In this work we have designed and simulated a thermal bi-directional integrated circuit mass flow sensor. The approach used here was an extension to the gas flow model given by Mayer and Lechner [1]. The design features high precision response received from analog integrated circuits. An established mathematical model for the heat flow equation including CFD parameters were used within COMSOL simulation (COMSOL Multiphysics, Sweden). Heat pulses of 55°C for a period of nearly 120 seconds and 50% duty cycles were applied as thermal sources to the flowstream. The boundary conditions of the heat equations at the solid (heating element) fluid interface were set up in the software for the thermal response. The hardware design included one heating element and two sensing elements were used to detect the bi-directional mass flow. Platinum sensors were used due to their linear characteristics within 0°C to 100°C range, and their high temperature coefficient (0.00385 Ω/°C). Polyimide thin film heater was used as the element due to its high throughput and good thermal efficiency. Two bridge circuits were used to sense the temperature distribution in the vicinity of the sensing elements.

Aim: To demonstrate an algorithmic approach to hypospadias repair with the aid of the surgical microscope as a teaching aid, as well as an ergonomic tool. Methods: One hundred and two patients were operated on between 2009 and 2013, all by the senior surgeon (M Dalal). This is a retrospective review of results in the case series. The procedures used were one stage repair with no incision of the urethral plate, or the two stage Bracka repair. Results:Fifty-six patients underwent the one stage procedure and 46 patients underwent the two stage Bracka repair. Early complication rate was 4.9% (n = 5) and late complication rate was 10.7%(n = 11). The fistula rate specific to one stage and two stage procedures was 5.3% (n = 3) and 13% (n = 6) respectively. Conclusion: A structured approach to hypospadias surgery will aid the surgeon in choosing the appropriate procedure for the appropriate patient. The authors have chosen to use 2 types of repair for all hypospadias subsets based on the algorithm. They find the microscope an invaluable teaching aid, whilst at the same time providing an ergonomic benefit, and providing a wide range of surgical site magnification.

Chimeric antigen receptors （CARs） are fusion molecules that may be genetically delivered ex-vivo to T-cells and other immune cell populations, thereby conferring specifcity for native target antigens found on the surface of tumour and other target cell types. Antigen recognition by CARs is neither restricted by nor dependent upon human leukocyte antigen antigen expression, favouring widespread use of this technology across transplantation barriers. Signalling is delivered by a designer endodomain that provides a tailored and target-dependent activation signal to polyclonal circulating T-cells. Recent clinical data emphasise the enormous promise of this emer-ging immunotherapeutic strategy for B-cell malignancy, notably acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. In that context, CARs are generally targeted against the ubiquitous B-cell antigen, CD19. However, CAR T-cell immunotherapy is limited by potential for severe ontarget toxicity, notably due to cytokine release syndrome. Furthermore, effcacy in the context of solid tumours remains unproven, owing in part to lack of availability of safe tumourspecific targets, inadequate CAR T-cell homing and hostility of the tumour microenvironment to immune effector deployment. Manufacture and commercial development encountered with more traditional drug products. Finally, there is increasing interest in the application of this technology to the treatment of non-malignant disease states, such as autoimmunity, chronic infection and in the suppression of allograft rejection. Here, we consider the background and direction of travel of this emerging and highly promising treatment for malignant and other disease types.

A numerical analysis of the log-law behavior for the turbulent boundary layer of a wall-bounded flow is performed over a flat plate immersed in three nanofluids(Zn O-water,SiO_(2)-water,TiO_(2)-water).Numerical simulations using CFD code are employed to investigate the boundary layer and the hydrodynamic *** validate the current numerical model,measurement points from published works were used,and the compared results were in good *** were carried out for the velocity series of 0.04,0.4 and 4 m/s and nanoparticle concentrations0.1% and 5%.The influence of nanoparticles’ concentration on velocity,temperature profiles,wall shear stress,and turbulent intensity was *** obtained results showed that the viscous sub-layer,the buffer layer,and the loglaw layer along the potential-flow layer could be analyzed based on their curving quality in the regions which have just a single wall *** was seen that the viscous sub-layer is the biggest area in comparison with other ***,the section where the temperature changes considerably correspond to the thermal boundary layer’s thickness goes a downward trend when the velocity *** thermal boundary layer gets deep away from the leading ***,a rise in the volume fraction of nanoparticles indicated a minor impact on the shear stress developed in the *** all cases,the thickness of the boundary layer undergoes a downward trend as the velocity increases,whereas increasing the nanoparticle concentrations would enhance the *** precisely,the log layer is closed with log law,and it is minimal between Y^(+)=50 and Y^(+)=*** temperature for nanoparticle concentration φ=5%is higher than that for φ=0.1%,in boundary layers,for all studied ***,it is established that the behavior is inverted from the value of Y^(+)=1 and the temperature for φ =0.1% is more important than the case of φ =5%.For turbulence intensity peak,this peak exists at Y^(+)

DSPs/FPGAs Comparative Study for Power Consumption, Noise Cancellation, and Real Time High Speed Applications

Adaptive noise data filtering in real-time requires dedicated hardware to meet demanding time requirements. Both DSP processors and FPGAs were studied with respect to their performance in power consumption, hardware architecture, and speed for real time applications. For testing purposes, real time adaptive noise filters have been implemented and simulated on two different platforms, Motorola DSP56303 EVM and Xilinx Spartan III boards. This study has shown that in high speed applications, FPGAs are advantageous over DSPs with respect of their speed and noise reduction because of their parallel architecture. FPGAs can handle more processes at the same time when compared to DSPs, while the later can only handle a limited number of parallel instructions at a time. The speed in both processors impacts the noise reduction in real time. As the DSP core gets slower, the noise removal in real time gets harder to achieve. With respect to power, DSPs are advantageous over FPGAs. FPGAs have reconfigurable gate structure which consumes more power. In case of DSPs, the hardware has been already configured, which requires less power consumption? FPGAs are built for general purposes, and their silicon area in the core is bigger than that of DSPs. This is another factor that affects power consumption. As a result, in high frequency applications, FPGAs are advantageous as compared to DSPs. In low frequency applications, DSPs and FPGAs both satisfy the requirements for noise cancelling. For low frequency applications, DSPs are advantageous in their power consumption and applications for the battery power devices. Software utilizing Matlab, VHDL code run on Xilinix system, and assembly running on Motorola development systems, have been used for the demonstration of this study.

In this paper, three rock types including Sandstone, Mudstone, and Crystalline Gypsum were part of a laboratory study conducted to develop a dataset for predicting the unconfined compressive strength of UAE intact sedimentary rock specimens. Four hundred nineteen rock samples from various areas along the coastal region of the UAE were collected and tested for the development of this dataset and evaluation of models. From the statistical analysis of the data, regression equations were established among rock parameters and correlations were expressed and compared by the ones proposed in literature.

背景:腹腔镜和机器人方法在胰腺手术中的运用业已广泛。本研究旨在评估现有的对比腹腔镜和机器人手术切除胰腺肿瘤的文献,并利用Meta分析的方法量化比较两种手术方式的治疗效果研究规划:本研究系统综述Pub-med和Em-base数据库中对比腹腔镜和机器人胰腺手术的文献。从中转开腹原因、手术时间、术中出血量、淋巴结清扫数目、术后胰瘘率、总体并发症和死亡率对两种方法进行了评估,得出每组的平均净差异和效果.结果:我们初选232篇文献并获取全文,其中47篇符合本研究纳入标准。共包含2753例患者,其中690例接受机器人胰腺手术,2063例接受腹腔镜胰腺手术。相比于腹腔镜手术组,机器人方法的总手术时间为延长约20～45min。机器人组术中失血量减少约57ml,而中转开腹的可能性为腹腔镜手术的1.85倍左右。腹腔镜组患者平均住院时间虽较机器人组有所延长(14,395 vs.11.85天),但两组间并无显著性差异。在淋巴结清扫数目、总体并发症和死亡率方面,两组亦无显著性差异结论:腹腔镜和机器人胰腺手术结果相似,均安全可行。与腹腔镜手术相比,机器人法往往手术时间延长,失血量时间少,中转开腹率较高。Meta分析结果表明,与腹腔镜法相比,机器人胰腺手术并无显著优势。
