We report results from a neutral hydrogen(H I)intensity mapping survey conducted with a Phased Array Feed(PAF)on the Parkes *** survey was designed to cover 380 deg^(2)over the redshift range 0.3by the Wiggle Z Dark Energy *** results presented here target a narrow redshift range of 0.73bed,with an emphasis on flagging of RFI and correction for signal loss in the data reduction process,particularly due to the foreground subtraction methodology.A cross-correlation signal was detected between the H I intensity maps and the Wiggle Z redshift data,with a mean amplitude ofb)δ_(opt)>=1.32±0.42 m K(statistical errors only).A future Parkes cryogenic PAF is expected to detect the cross-correlation signal with higher accuracy than previously possible and allow measurement of the cosmic H I density at redshifts up to unity.

The diversity of plant architecture is determined by axillary meristems (AMs). AMs are produced from small groups of stem cells in the axils of leaf primordia and generate vegetative branches and reproductive inflorescences . Previous studies identified genes critical for AM development that function in auxin biosynthesis, transport, and signaling. barren stalkl (ba1), a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor, acts downstream of auxin to control AM formation. Here, we report the cloning and characterization of barren stalk2 (ba2), a mutant that fails to produce ears and has fewer branches and spikelets in the tassel, indicating that ba2 functions in reproductive AM development. Furthermore, the ba2 mutation suppresses tiller growth in the teosinte branchedl mutant, indicating that ba2 also plays an essential role in vegetative AM development. The ba2 gene encodes a protein that co-localizes and heterodimerizes with bA1 in the nucleus . Characterization of the genetic interaction between ba2 and ba1 demonstrates that ba1 shows a gene dosage effect in ba2 mutants, providing further evidence that bA1 and bA2 act together in the same pathway. Characterization of the molecular and genetic interaction between ba2 and additional genes required for the regulation of ba1 further supports this finding. The ba1 and ba2 genes are orthologs of rice genes, LAX PANICLE1 (LAX1) and LAX2, respectively, hence providing insights into pathways controlling AMs development in grasses.

Turbulent periodic flow, heat transfer, friction loss and thermal enhancement characteristics in a three-dimensional horizo- ntal square channel with broken V-ribs （b-VR） are numerically investigated. The computations are based on the finite volume method, and the SIMPLE algorithm with QUICK scheme is implemented. The b-VR were installed on both sides of a plate which was diagonally placed in a square channel to produce longitudinal vortex flows through the tested section. Effects of different open comer ratios （ d/H = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05） on heat transfer and pressure loss in the channel and the results of the b-VR are studied. The pitch ratio （PR = p/H） and blockage ratio （bR = p/H） of b-VRs were fixed at 1.0 and 0.15, respectively. As compared with the channel without V-rib, the one with b-VRs possessed considerably higher heat transfer and friction loss. It is observed that apart from the rise of Reynolds number, the reduction of the open comer ratios leads to an increase in the Nusselt number and friction factor due to the weaker turbulence and lower resistance to the flow. According to the computational results for b-VRs, the optimum thermal enhancement is fotmd at d/H = 0.

We examine the economics of royalties in bioprospecting contracts between a pharmaceutical and genetic resource supplier （local）, with an eve to understanding the relative advantages of indexing royalty, payments to gross revenue or net revenue. We show a risk-averse firm facing only production or only cost risks will index royalties to net revenue. When facing both types of risk the choice of royalty type depends on the relative magnitudes of the production and cost risk. In each case, the risk-averse firm chooses the royalty-type that shifts as much risk as possible to the local. Wheat the local is risk neutral the pharmaceutical＇s and local＇s preferences are *** the local is risk averse and there is only one type of risk, it will prefer a gross revenue royalty, and shift as much risk as possible to the firm： here the local and firm preferences are compatible only ifthe firm is risk-neutral. Lastly we show if the firm sets the terms of the contract and both agents are risk averse, *** will not likely volunteer to implement the socially optimal royalty arrangement as it prefers to shift as much risk to the loeal, who now also prefers a more certain return, This last outcome is at the heart of the benefit sharing discussionand suggests if risk sharing and equity are a concern in benefit sharing, then the choice of rcyalty type can be an important part of negotiations between pharmaceuticals and locals for the phytochemical from nature for new drug discovery.
