Background：Among the most important aspects of risk and hazard studies relating to forest ecosystems are maximum forest density and density-dependent tree ***：Long-term observations about the maximum density of unthinned Pinus patula and *** field plots based on the Correlated Curve Trend（CCT）spacing studies which were established almost 8 decades ago by O’Connor（Forest Research with Special Reference to Planting Distances and Thinning,1935）in South *** specific approaches were introduced for analysing maximum density and tree survival,namely the‘limiting line’,Nilson’s sparsity and tree survival with the Weibull ***：The main results are：a）Maximum densities differ greatly among the two species grown on the same site and within the same species grown on different sites;it is possible to relate these differences to site index in both species.b）The relationship between the quadratic mean diameter and the minimum average spacing of surviving trees（known as Nilson’s Sparsity）appears to be surprisingly similar in both species.c）An analysis of tree survival in response to different initial planting espacements shows that the Weibull survival function parameters can be estimated if the initial planting density is *** result is presented for each of the eight large experiments used in this ***：This study contributes to a better understanding of tree survival and maximum density which are the key factors required for estimating risk and *** risk of tree mortality is not constant,but varies with tree species,planting density,tree age and growing *** estimating that risk,therefore,continuous long-term observation on different sites and with varying planting densities,as provided by the unthinned CCT series,are essential.

In this study,transient non-Fourier heat transfer in a solid cylinder is analytically solved based on dual-phase-lag for constant axial heat flux *** equations for the model are expressed in two-dimensional cylindrical coordinates;the equations are nondimensionalized and exact solution for the equations is presented by using the separation of variable *** showed that the dual-phase-lag model requires less time to meet the steady temperature compared with single-phase-lag *** the contrary,thermal wave diffusion speed for the dual-phase-lag model is greater than the single-phase-lag *** the effect of relaxation time in dual-phase-lag model has been taken on consideration.

以修正的Brink函数和Pain函数拟合尾巨桉干形曲线。材料来源于南非暖温带花岗岩低地草原地区桉树工业用材林53块标准地的153株尾巨桉干形测定数据。2个削度方程均能对调查数据进行很好地拟合,只是在不同的相对高度时有小的偏差。参数少的方程具有十分好的应用前景,因为从理论上来说,可以用参数预估的方法建立一个广义的干形模型。参数预估不能运用于修正的Brink函数,但在Pain函数的基础上建立参数预估模型是可能的甚至是必要的,因为Pain函数是把绝对树干直径描述为相对树干高度的函数。为此,对参数预估模型是否能描述的树形差异或者仅仅是大小的差异作了测度评价。应用结果表明,参数预估模型未必能用于描述树形的差异。

Background and aim: Kangaroo mother care (KMC) has become the standard of care for low- risk preterm babies born in developing countries. However, the potential risk of nosocomial transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis within KMC units, particularly in tuberculosis- endemic areas, has not been explored. We report an infant (sentinel case) who was admitted to our paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) with extensive pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods and results: When interviewed, the mother reported no household contact with a tuberculosis source case, but mentioned that she shared a KMC room with someone who had symptoms suspicious of tuberculosis. We found molecular evidence that nosocomial transmission of M. tuberculosis occurred within the KMC unit and conducted a contact investigation of all infants exposed to this infectious source case during her stay in the KMC unit. Conclusion: We present the findings of the contact investigation and discuss the implications of these findings for KMC units, particularly in tuberculosis- endemic areas.
