Huangl.ngbing （Hl.） is.the mos. des.ructive dis.as. of citrus.worl.wide. The As.an citrus.ps.l.id, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama （hemiptera： Ps.l.idae）, is.the vector of the phl.em-inhabiting bacterium, Candidatus.l.beribacter as.aticus. which is.pres.med to caus. Hl. in Fl.rida citrus. l.boratory and fiel. s.udies.were conducted to examine the behavioral.res.ons.s.of mal. and femal. D. cirri to their cuticul.r extracts. In ol.actometer as.ays. more mal. D. citri were attracted to one, five, or 10 femal. cuticul.r extract equival.nt units.than bl.nk control.. The res.l.s.were confirmed in fiel. s.udies.in which cl.ar or yel.ow traps.baited with 10 femal. cuticul.r extract equival.nt units.attracted proportionatel. more mal.s.than cl.ar traps.baited with mal. cuticul.r extract or unbaited traps. Anal.s.s.of cuticul.r cons.ituents.of mal. and femal. D. citri reveal.d differences.between the s.xes.in chemical.compos.tion of their cuticul.r extracts. l.boratory bioas.ays.with s.nthetic chemical. identified from cuticul.r extracts.indicated that dodecanoic acid attracted more mal.s.than cl.an air. Traps.baited with dodecanoic acid did not increas. total.catch ol.. citri as.compared with bl.nk traps.at the dos.ges.tested; however, the s.x ratio ofps.l.id catch was.mal. bias.d on traps.baited with the highes. l.re l.ading dos.ge tested （10.0 mg）.

A l.rge fire of 233 ha in Huas.arán National.Park in Peru provided an opportunity to compare pl.nt and bird res.ons.s.in burned and nearby unburned zones.of the puna. heights.and l.ve diameters.of fl.gs.ip Puya raimondii ros.ttes.as.igned to four broad devel.pmental.phas.s., pl.nt communities.66 s.ecies.in 24 famil.es.and nine growth forms. and bird communities.77 s.ecies.in s.x trophic guil.s. were monitored after the fire. Al.hough no mortal.ty was.obs.rved, Puya raimondii pl.nts.were affected by the fire, l.s.ng approximatel. 60% of their photos.nthetic area acros. al. devel.pmental.phas.s. but recovered quickl. during the firs. two years.after fire. The comparis.n of Puya ros.tte recovery after fire was.compl.cated by the changes.in l.ve ros.tte diameter for unburned pl.nts. which s.owed pl.s.icity of photos.nthetic area l.nked to s.as.nal.and annual.fl.ctuations.in precipitation in this.rel.tivel. dry environment(decreas.d by 26% for mature adul. pl.nts.over the s.udy period). Fire caus.d an immediate change in the dens.ty, biomas. and compos.tion of vegetation. Al.hough the s.ecies.pres.nt remained s.mil.r, their abundances.changed s.gnificantl. immediatel. after the fire, with notabl. reductions.in dominant tus.ock gras.es. This.provided opportunities.for other pl.nts. res.l.ing in higher pos.fire divers.ty of pl.nt s.ecies. genera, famil.es.and growth forms. In turn, the changes.in vegetation after fire affected the compos.tion of birds.according to their trophic guil.. Granivores.l.rgel. dis.ppeared,general.s.s.were mos.l. unaffected, and other guil.s.s.owed a more compl.x res.ons.. As.the vegetation recovered, mos. dis.l.ced birds.returned within approximatel. one year.

Experimental.s.udy of a s.l.r Thermal.Incubator Us.ng a Phas.-Change Material.for Off-Grid Us.

The aim of this.s.udy was.to provide a s.mpl., eas.-to-us. incubation s.stem for s.al.-s.al. rural.poul.ry farmers.far from the el.ctricity grid. To this.end, a natural.y ventil.ted s.l.r thermal.incubator was.buil. and experimental.y tested. A U-s.aped evacuated tube col.ector and a wooden crate hol.ing 50 eggs.were us.d to buil. the s.l.r thermal.incubator. Water was.us.d as.the heat trans.er fl.id, and an EPCM was.integrated into the incubation chamber for operation at night or when the s.n was.hidden. The heat generated by the s.l.r col.ector and s.ored in the heat trans.er fl.id is.trans.orted to the incubation chamber by thermos.phon to heat the chamber. Temperature and humidity probes.powered by a s.l.r panel.were pl.ced at various.l.cations.to monitor the thermo-hygrometric efficiency of the incubation s.stem. The incubator, heated by natural.convection, proved to function normal.y, and the incubation chamber was.maintained throughout the incubation period within a temperature range of 35.53˚C to 39.53˚C and rel.tive humidity averaging 49.4% to 68.5%. The experiment was.carried out by introducing 30 eggs.and the res.l.s.of the experimental.s.udy s.owed that the incubator’s.efficiency was.87%. The performance tes.s.gave a fertil.ty rate of 93% and a hatching rate of 93%, i.e. 28 fertil. eggs.and 26 hatched eggs. res.ectivel..
