In India, during the mid-nineties the Union Government had initiated the Mid-Day Meal schemes in schools to promote primary education on one hand, and to reduce malnutrition on the other. However, Tamil Nadu had launched this program several decades before;during the regime of Mr. Kumarasami Kamraj (1954-1963). An empirical study was undertaken in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, in the south of India, to understand the nutritional status of the children between 11 and 18 years old. This group is vulnerable, as during this age, individuals undergo physical and mental changes. We calculated the Body Mass Index (BMI) of school children to assess their nutritional status. A total of 806 school children took part in this study and the majority of them were found to be underweight in the study region. Irrespective of their age group and sex, as per the WHO’s international standards, 83% of the students were underweight (BMIBMI 18.5 - 24.9), and of the rest, 0.39% and 0.06% were in the BMI range of 25 - 29.9 (overweight) and 30 - 35.9 (obese), respectively. Based on available data, a regression analysis was carried out. This regression model showed that students’ age, sex and father’s occupation significantly affects their BMI. Further analysis showed that BMI was independent of the students’ blood group. It was concluded that malnutrition among school children can be eliminated by providing additional healthy foods and by improving the Socio Economic Background (SEB) of the region.

Cloud Computing has become the popular paradigm for accessing the various scalable and on-demand computing services over the ***,individual Cloud Service Providers(CSPs)offering specialized services to the customers collaborate to form the Cloud Federation,in order to reap the real benefits of Cloud *** collaboration,the member CSPs of the federation achieve better resource utilization and Quality of Service(QoS),thereby increasing their business *** a CSP runs out of resources in the Cloud Federation,in order to offload the customer requests for resources to other CSP(s),identifying a suitable partner is a challenging task due to the lack of global coordination among *** this paper,we propose the design and implementation of an efficient partner selection mechanism in the Cloud Federation,using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)methods,and also considering the trust values of various CSPs in the *** AHP method is used to calculate the weights of the QoS parameters used in the TOPSIS method which is used to rank the various CSPs in the Cloud Federation according to the user *** results show the effectiveness of this approach in order to efficiently select the trustworthy partners in large scale federations to ensure the required QoS to the cloud consumers.

Synchronous machines are dedicated to the specific application. They are generally employed in rolling mills, pumps, fans, and compressors like reprobating and centrifugal drives, pulp and paper processing, water treatment, mining, and in cement industries. As a synchronous motor, the performance is reduced for the given excitation while the load increases. When operated as synchronous generators, both power loads and lighting loads depend on the output from the armature winding. This paper presents an alternative choice in which by providing an additional winding in the stationary armature, when operated as a Double Winding Synchronous Motor (DWSyM), it becomes possible to operate in maximum power factor by adjusting the loads on both the stator windings. When operated as conventional motor, for the load current of 3.5 A, the efficiency is 55% and power factor is 0.55, for the same excitation when second winding is connected to a load current of 1 A, the efficiency is improved to 77.6% and power factor is improved to 0.66. The main focus of this machine is to improve the performance of the machine for the reduced excitation and minimum load. For the reduced excitation, the performance can be improved by loading both the windings. While operated as Double Winding Synchronous Generator (DWSyG), two stator outputs are available which help to separate the power and lighting circuits. Hence, interruption in the lighting circuit can be limited, this machine can be considered as Twin generator.

In this work, the most detrimental missense mutations of Madl protein that cause various types of cancer were identified computationally and the substrate binding efficiencies of those missense mutations were analyzed. Out of 13 missense mutations, I Mutant 2.0, SIFT and PolyPhen programs identified 3 variants that were less stable, deleterious and damaging respectively. Subsequently, modeling of these 3 variants was performed to understand the change in their conformations with respect to the native Madl by computing their root mean squared deviation （RMSD）. Furthermore, the native protein and the 3 mutants were docked with the binding partner Mad2 to explain the substrate binding efficiencies of those detrimental missense mutations. The docking studies identified that all the 3 mutants caused lower binding affinity for Mad2 than the native protein. Finally, normal mode analysis determined that the loss of binding affinity of these 3 mutants was caused by altered flexibility in the amino acids that bind to Mad2 compared with the native protein. Thus, the present study showed that majority of the substrate binding amino acids in those 3 mutants displayed loss of flexibility, which could be the theoretical explanation of decreased binding affinity between the mutant Madl and Mad2.

In this work, the most detrimental missense mutations of aspartoacylase that cause Canavan's disease were identified computationally and the substrate binding efficiencies of those missense mutations were analyzed. Out of 30 missense mutations, I-Mutant 2.0, SIFT and PolyPhen programs identified 22 variants that were less stable, deleterious and damaging respectively. Subsequently, modeling of these 22 variants was performed to understand the change in their conformations with respect to the native aspartoacylase by computing their root mean squared deviation (RMSD). Furthermore, the native protein and the 22 mutants were docked with the substrate NAA (N-Acetyl-Aspartic acid) to explain the substrate binding efficiencies of those detrimental missense mutations. Among the 22 mutants, the docking studies identified that 15 mutants caused lower binding affinity for NAA than the native protein. Finally, normal mode analysis determined that the loss of binding affinity of these 15 mutants was caused by altered flexibility in the amino acids that bind to NAA compared with the native protein. Thus, the pre- sent study showed that the majority of the substrate-binding amino acids in those 15 mutants displayed loss of flexibility, which could be the theoretical explanation of decreased binding affinity between the mutant aspartoacylases and NAA.

This paper provides the performance analysis of multi input multi output (MIMO) Multi carrier (MC) interleaver based multiple-access system with multiuser detection. Interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) is a scheme in which users are separated by employing different interleavers instead of different signatures as in a conventional code-division multiple-access (CDMA) scheme. The basic principle of IDMA is that the interleaver is different for different users. Interleavers are generated independently and randomly. At the receiver, ZF, LLSE, VBLAST/ZF/MAP and VBLAST/LLSE/MAP detectors are employed. The performance of the system is analyzed for different channel conditions using extensive simulation runs based on Monte Carlo simulation trials. Simulation results divulge that VBLAST/LLSE/MAP detector results in significant performance amelioration compared to other detectors as applied to MC/IDMA system.

Objective:To determine how biochanin-A(BCA)affects high-fat diet and streptozotocin-induced pathological changes in lipid metabolism and antioxidant status in diabetic ***:Diabetic rats were orally administered BCA(10 mg/kg body weight)for 30 days to investigate its effects on lipid profiles and oxidative stress markers in the liver and *** addition,the mRNA expression of antioxidant and lipid metabolism enzymes in the liver was ***:BCA attenuated hyperlipidemia by regulating mRNA expressions of HMG-CoA reductase,fatty acid synthase,carnitine palmitoyl transferase,and acetyl-CoA ***,BCA reduced high-fat diet and streptozotocin-induced oxidative stress by suppressing lipid peroxidation,improving superoxide dismutase,catalase,and glutathione peroxidase levels,and upregulating mRNA expressions of these ***:BCA may be a promising nutraceutical for the treatment of dyslipidemia and oxidative stress associated with diabetes.
