Scientiﬁc workﬂows have gained the emerging attention in sophisti-cated large-scale scientiﬁc problem-solving *** pay-per-use model of cloud,its scalability and dynamic deployment enables it suited for executing scientiﬁc workﬂow *** the cloud is not a utopian environment,failures are inevitable that may result in experiencingﬂuctuations in the delivered *** a single task failure occurs in workﬂow based applications,due to its task dependency nature,the reliability of the overall system will be affected *** rather than reactive fault-tolerant approaches,proactive measures are vital in scientiﬁc workﬂ*** work puts forth an attempt to con-centrate on the exploration issue of structuring a nature inspired metaheuristics-Intelligent Water Drops Algorithm(IWDA)combined with an efﬁcient machine learning approach-Support Vector Regression(SVR)for task failure prognostica-tion which facilitates proactive fault-tolerance in the scheduling of scientiﬁc workﬂow *** failure prediction models in this study have been implemented through SVR-based machine learning approaches and the precision accuracy of prediction is optimized by IWDA and several performance metrics were evaluated on various benchmark workﬂ*** experimental results prove that the proposed proactive fault-tolerant approach performs better compared with the other existing techniques.

Segmentation has been an effective step that needs to be done before the classification or detection of an anomaly like Alzheimer’s on a brain *** helps detect pixels of the same intensity or volume and group them together as one class or region,where in that particular region of interest(ROI)can be concentrated on,rather than focusing on the entire *** this paper White Matter Hyperintensities(WMH)is taken as a strong biomarker that supports and determines the presence of Alzheimer’*** thefirst step a proper segmentation of the lesions has to be carried *** pointed out in various other research papers,when the WMH area is very small or in places like the Septum Pellucidum the detection of the lesion is hard *** overcome such problem areas a very optimized and accurate Threshold would be required to have a precise segmentation to detect the area of *** would help in proper detection and classification of the *** this paper an elaborate comparison of various thresholding techniques has been done for segmentation.A novel idea for detection of Alzheimer’s has been presented in this paper,which encompasses the effectiveness of an optimized and adaptive *** Unet architecture has been taken as the baseline model with an adaptive kernel model embedded within the *** state-of-the-art technologies have been used with the dataset and a comparative study has been presented with the current architecture used in the *** lesion segmentation in narrow areas has accurately been detected compared to the other models and the number of false positives has been reduced to a great extent.

Background: Malondialdehyde(MDA) is a candidate general marker of oxidative stress(OS). We sought to assess the relation of MDA to Gulf War illness(GWI) and to a variety of ***: This is an observational study involving subjects from Southern California recruited from October 2011 to May 2014. MDA was assessed in 81 participants(41 GWI-cases, 40 controls). General and Gulf-specific exposures were elicited. MDA case–control comparison was restricted to 40 matched pairs. The potential association between MDA and exposures was assessed using regression analyses. Gulf-specific exposures were incorporated into a case-specific ***: Plasma MDA was significantly lower in GWI-cases than controls. Composite pesticide and fuel-solvent exposures negatively predicted MDA in the total sample, as well as in the analyses that included either GWI-cases or controls only. Self-reported exposure to organophosphate(OP) nerve gas was a strong predictor for lower MDA level in veterans with ***: Past pesticide exposures predicted lower MDA in both veterans with GWI and in healthy controls.

Similarity measure is an essential tool to compare and determine the degree of similarity between intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs). In this paper, a new similarity measure between intuitionistic fuzzy sets based on the mid points of transformed triangular fuzzy numbers is proposed. The proposed similarity measure provides reasonable results not only for the sets available in the literature but also gives very reasonable results, especially for fuzzy sets as well as for most intuitionistic fuzzy sets. To provide supportive evidence, the proposed similarity measure is tested on certain sets available in literature and is also applied to pattern recognition and medical diagnosis problems. It is observed that the proposed similarity measure provides a very intuitive quantification.

Although the health benefits of swimming are well-documented, health effects such as asthma and bladder cancer are linked to disinfection by-products(DBPs) in pool water. DBPs are formed from the reaction of disinfectants such as chlorine(Cl) or bromine(Br) with organics in the water. Our previous study(Daiber et al., Environ. Sci. Technol. 50, 6652;2016) found correlations between the concentrations of classes of DBPs and the mutagenic potencies of waters from chlorinated or brominated swimming pools and spas. We extended this study by identifying significantly different concentrations of 21 individual DBPs in brominated or chlorinated pool and spa waters as well as identifying which DBPs and additional DBP classes were most associated with the mutagenicity of these waters. Using data from our previous study, we found that among 21 DBPs analyzed in 21 pool and spa waters, the concentration of bromoacetic acid was significantly higher in Brwaters versus Cl-waters, whereas the concentration of trichloroacetic acid was significantly higher in Cl-waters. Five Br-DBPs(tribromomethane, dibromochloroacetic acid, dibromoacetonitrile, bromoacetic acid, and tribromoacetic acid) had significantly higher concentrations in Br-spa versus Cl-spa waters. Cl-pools had significantly higher concentrations of ClDBPs(trichloroacetaldehyde, trichloromethane, dichloroacetic acid, and chloroacetic acid), whereas Br-pools had significantly higher concentrations of Br-DBPs(tribromomethane, dibromoacetic acid, dibromoacetonitrile, and tribromoacetic acid). The concentrations of the sum of all 4 trihalomethanes, all 11 Br-DBPs, and all 5 nitrogen-containing DBPs were each significantly higher in brominated than in chlorinated pools and spas. The 8 Br-DBPs were the only DBPs whose individual concentrations were significantly correlated with the mutagenic potencies of the pool and spa waters.
