A new additive technique for manufacturing of short fibre-reinforced ultra-refractory ceramics is *** technique allows the fabrication of solvent-free,thin(~100µm),flexible,and easy-to-handle sheets suitable for fabricating homogeneous or layered structures.A large range of compositions,in terms of matrix and fibre volumetric contents,from 0%to 100%is *** amount of short carbon fibres incorporated in the sheets ranged from 20 to 50 vol%,whereas the fibre length ranged from 3 to 5 *** matrix composition investigated with this technique consisted of ZrB_(2)/SiC/Y_(2)O_(3).By increasing the fibre amount from 35 to 50 vol%,an improvement of mechanical properties was ***-point flexural strength(σ)ranged from 107 to 140 MPa,depending on the amount of carbon fibres(Cf).The same holds true for the work of fracture,ranging from 108 to 253 J/m^(2).Functionally graded composites were fabricated by overlapping sheets with a fibre gradient(0%-50%).

Ultra-high-temperature ceramic matrix composites(UHTCMCs)based on a ZrB_(2)/SiC matrix have been investigated for the fabrication of reusable nozzles for *** de Laval nozzle prototypes,obtained by sintering with either hot pressing(HP)or spark plasma sintering(SPS),were tested 2-3 times in a hybrid rocket motor for proving *** were extracted after oxidation tests to study the microstructural changes and oxidative and thermomechanical stresses induced by the repeated *** to a reference graphite nozzle,no measurable erosion was observed for the UHTCMC-based *** oxidation mechanism consisted in the formation of a ZrO_(2)intermediate layer,with a liquid silicon oxide(SiO_(2))layer on the surface that was displaced by the action of the gas flux towards the divergent part of the nozzle,protecting it from further *** specimens obtained by HP and SPS displayed similar performance,with very slight differences,which were attributed to small changes in *** tests demonstrated the capability of complex-shaped prototypes made of the developed UHTCMCs to survive repeated exposure to environments representative of a realistic space propulsion application,for overall operating time up to 30 s,without any failure nor measurable erosion,making a promising step towards the development of reusable rocket components.

Background:Pancreatic solid pseudopapillary tumors(SPTs)are rare clinical entity,with low malignancy and still unclear *** account for less than 2%of exocrine pancreatic *** study aimed to perform a systematic review of the main clinical,surgical and oncological characteristics of pancreatic *** sources:MEDLINE/PubMed,Web of Science and Scopus databases were systematically searched for the main clinical,surgical and oncological characteristics of pancreatic SPTs up to April 2021,in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRISMA)*** endpoints were to analyze treatments and oncological ***:A total of 823 studies were recorded,86 studies underwent full-text reviews and 28 met inclusion ***,1384 patients underwent pancreatic *** age was 30 years and 1181 patients(85.3%)were *** most common clinical presentation was non-specific abdominal pain(52.6%of cases).Mean overall survival was 98.1%.Mean recurrence rate was 2.8%.Mean follow-up was 4.2 ***:Pancreatic SPTs are rare,and predominantly affect young women with unclear *** resection is the gold standard of treatment achieving good oncological impact and a favorable prognosis in a yearly life-long follow-up.

Peutz-Jeghers syndrome(PJS)is a rare autosomal dominant disorder characterized by mucocutaneous pigmentation and gastrointestinal(GI)hamartomatous polyposis and is associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal,breast,gynecologic and other extra-GI *** serine/threonine kinase 11(STK11)gene has been identi-fied as a pathogenic factor in ***11 is a tumor sup-pressor gene located on chromosome 19p13.3 and includes 9 coding exons.1 The STK11 protein is composed of 433 amino acids(aa)and comprises a kinase catalytic region(aa 49e309)as well as N-and C-terminal regulatory domains.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflam-matory diseases of multifactorial etiology, are the lead-ing cause of death worldwide. In the last decade, more infectious agents, labeled as "infectious burden", rather than any single pathogen, have been showed to con-tribute to the development of atherosclerosis through different mechanisms. Some microorganisms, such as Chlamydia pneumoniae(C. pneumoniae), human cytomegalovirus, etc. may act directly on the arterial wall contributing to endothelial dysfunction, foam cell formation, smooth muscle cell proliferation, platelet ag-gregation as well as cytokine, reactive oxygen specie, growth factor, and cellular adhesion molecule produc-tion. Others, such as Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), in-fluenza virus, etc. may induce a systemic inflammation which in turn may damage the vascular wall(e.g., by cytokines and proteases). Moreover, another indirect mechanism by which some infectious agents(such as H. pylori, C. pneumoniae, periodontal pathogens, etc.) may play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclero-sis is molecular mimicry. Given the complexity of the mechanisms by which each microorganism may con-tribute to atherosclerosis, defining the interplay of moreinfectious agents is far more difficult because the pro-atherogenic effect of each pathogen might be ampli-fied. Clearly, continued research and a greater aware-ness will be helpful to improve our knowledge on the complex interaction between the infectious burden and atherosclerosis.

Objective:To report the outcomes of surgery for a contemporary series of patients with locally advanced non-metastatic renal cell carcinoma(RCC)treated at a referral academic centre,focusing on technical nuances and on the value of a multidisciplinary ***:We queried our prospective institutional database to identify patients undergoing surgical treatment for locally advanced(cT3-T4 N0-1 M0)renal masses suspected of RCC at our centre between January 2017 and December ***:Overall,32 patients were included in the analytic *** these,12(37.5%)tumours were staged as cT3a,8(25.0%)as cT3b,5(15.6%)as cT3c,and 7(21.9%)as cT4;6(18.8%)patients had preoperative evidence of lymph node ***(28.1%)patients underwent nephron-sparing surgery while 23(71.9%)received radical nephrectomy.A template-based lymphadenectomy was performed in 12 cases,with evidence of disease in 3(25.0%)at definitive histopathological *** cases of RCC with level IV inferior vena cava thrombosis were successfully treated using liver transplant techniques without the need for extracorporeal *** intraoperative complications were recorded in 3(9.4%)patients,no postoperative major complications(Clavien-Dindo3)were *** histopathological analysis,2(6.2%)patients who underwent partial nephrectomy harboured oncocytoma,while the most common malignant histotype was clear cell RCC(62.5%),with a median Leibovich score of 6(interquartile range 5e7).Conclusion:Locally advanced RCC is a complex and heterogenous disease posing several challenges to surgical *** experience confirms that provided careful patient selection,surgery in experienced hands can achieve favourable perioperative,oncological,and functional outcomes.

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas is a low-grade malignant tumor that predominantly affects young women in their third and fourth *** and risk factors are *** symptoms are aspecific and most commonly due to mass *** is made by computed tomography scan or magnetic resonance imaging and histological characterization is obtained by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle ***,these lesions are composed by both solid and pseudopapillary structures with necrotic and hemorrhagic ***,the biological behavior is aggressive with tumor recurrence and distant ***,curative R0 surgical resection is the best option able to provide long term survival even in advanced *** disease is the main predictor of poor *** and radiotherapy regimens are not well ***,they could be effective in reducing tumor size as neoadjuvant treatment or disease control in palliative *** complete surgical resection provides a cure rate of>95%,considering young age of the patients and morbidity associated to pancreatic surgery,further studies are needed to better investigate risk factors and responsiveness to hormones in order to allow early diagnosis and follow up strategies that could avoid unnecessary surgery in less aggressive disease.
