Aicardi-Goutieres syndrome(AGS)is a systemic inflammatory disorder caused by mutations in any one of the nine different genes,whose deficiency provokes a type I(interferon)IFN response probably central to pathogenesis.^(1) ADAR1,one of the genes mutated in AGS(AGS6),encodes for an enzyme that belongs to the ADAR family(ADAR1,ADAR2,and ADAR3)that catalyzes the conversion of adenosine to inosine within double-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs)(RNA editing A-to-1).

The United Nations(UN)’s call for a decade of“ecosystem restoration”was prompted by the need to address the extensive impact of anthropogenic activities on natural *** ecosystem restoration is increasingly necessary due to increasing habitat degredation in deep waters(>200 m depth).At these depths,which are far beyond those accessible by divers,only established and emerging robotic platforms such as remotely operated vehicles(ROVs),autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs),landers,and crawlers can operate through manipulators and multiparametric sensor arrays(e.g.,optoacoustic imaging,omics,and environmental probes).The use of advanced technologies for deep-sea ecosystem restoration can provide:①high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)imaging and acoustic mapping of substrates and key taxa,②physical manipulation of substrates and key taxa,③real-time supervision of remote operations and long-term ecological monitoring,and④the potential to work ***,we describe how robotic platforms with in situ manipulation capabilities and payloads of innovative sensors could autonomously conduct active restoration and monitoring across large spatial *** expect that these devices will be particularly useful in deep-sea habitats,such as①reef-building cold-water corals,②soft-bottom bamboo corals,and③soft-bottom fishery resources that have already been damaged by offshore industries(i.e.,fishing and oil/gas).

In most plants, a large fraction of photo-assimilated carbon is stored in the chloroplasts during the day as starch and remobilized during the subsequent night to support metabolism. Mutations blocking either starch synthesis or starch breakdown in Arabidopsis thaliana reduce plant growth. Maltose is the major product of starch breakdown exported from the chloroplast at night. The maltose excess 1 mutant （mex1）, which lacks the chloroplast envelope maltose transporter, accumulates high levels of maltose and starch in chloroplasts and develops a distinctive but previously unexplained chlorotic phenotype as leaves mature. The introduction of additional mutations that prevent starch synthesis, or that block maltose production from starch, also prevent chlorosis of mex1. In contrast, introduction of mutations in disproportionating enzyme （DPE1） results in the accumulation of maltotriose in addition to maltose, and greatly increases chlorosis. These data suggest a link between maltose accumulation and chloroplast homeostasis. Microscopic analyses show that the mesophyll cells in chlorotic mex1 leaves have fewer than half the number of chloroplasts than wild-type cells. Transmission electron microscopy reveals autophagy-like chloroplast degradation in both mex1 and the dpe1/mex1 double mutant. Microarray analyses reveal substantial reprogramming of metabolic and cellular processes, suggesting that organellar protein turnover is increased in mex1, though leaf senescence and senescence-related chlorophyll catabolism are not induced. We propose that the accumulation of maltose and malto-oligosaccharides causes chloroplast dysfunction, which may by signaled via a form of retrograde signaling and trigger chloroplast degradation.

Liver cancer is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide,with hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc)comprising most *** hepatitis B and c viral infections,heavy alcohol use,and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)-associated advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis,several other risk factors for Hcc have been identified(*** age,obesity,insulin resistance,type 2 diabetes).These might in fact partially explain the occurrence of Hcc in non-cirrhotic patients without viral *** surveillance through effective screening programs is still an unmet need for many nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)patients,and identification of pre-cirrhotic individuals who progress to Hcc represents a substantial challenge in clinical practice at the *** with NASHcirrhosis should undergo systematic Hcc surveillance,while this might be considered in patients with advanced fibrosis based on individual risk *** this context,interventions that potentially prevent NAFLD/NASH-associated Hcc are *** paper provided an overview of evidence related to lifestyle changes(*** loss,physical exercise,adherence to healthy dietary patterns,intake of certain dietary components,etc.)and pharmacological interventions that might play a protective role by targeting the underlying causative factors and pathogenetic ***,well-designed prospective studies specifically dedicated to NAFLD/NASH patients are still needed to clarify the relationship with Hcc risk.

The authors consider the problem of boundary feedback stabilization of the 1D Euler gas dynamics locally around stationary states and prove the exponential stability with respect to the H2-norm. To this end, an explicit Lyapunov function as a weighted and squared H2-norm of a small perturbation of the stationary solution is constructed. The authors show that by a suitable choice of the boundary feedback conditions, the H2- exponential stability of the stationary solution follows. Due to this fact, the system is stabilized over an infinite time interval. Furthermore, exponential estimates for the c norm are derived.

Ethylene-propene copolymers have been synthesized by three c1-symmetric metallocene molecules(1,2,and 3),having tert-butyl substituents on the cp moiety,on the fluorenyl moiety,or on both moieties,and methylaluminoxane(MAO)at different polymerization temperatures and monomer *** were investigated by 13 c-NMR,1 H-NMR,and SEc analyses.A relationship was found between[EEE]/[E]ratios and copolymer molar masses in each series:the higher the[EEE]/[E]ratio,the lower the copolymer molar *** parity of[EEE]/[E]ratio,copolymer molar mass follows the order 1>>3>*** end group analysis reveals that copolymers mainly terminate when propene is the last inserted unit,confirming that it is the greater facility of Mt-P-E-poly(E-co-P)to terminate that influences the copolymer molar *** the catalysts considered,catalyst 1,which gives syndiospecific polypropene,gives greater activities,comonomer incorporation,and molar *** 3,which gives isospecific polypropene,in copolymerization performs better than 2,having the same bridge,with respect to activities,ethylene content,and molar *** good performance of this catalyst arises from the not necessity of polymer chain to back skip when ethylene is the last inserted unit.

Histone deacetylase 1(HDAc1)is an important epigenetic controller involvedin transcriptional regulation throughmodification of chromatin *** and epigenetic changes and deregulation of signal transduction pathways have been implicated in the development of breast *** of estrogen receptor a(ERa)expression is one of the mechanisms behind the acquisition of endocrine *** and increased hormone and growth factor receptor signaling in breast cancer cells contribute to resistance to endocrine *** HDAcs and the PI3K/mTOR signaling pathway are becoming promising targets in breast cancer,reversing also acquired hormone *** we show how mitogens,activating the PI3K/mTOR pathway,trigger the phosphorylation of HDAc1 in breast cancer cells,which is completely dependent on the activity of the p70 S6 kinase(S6K1).Our findings show that S6K1,overexpressed in many breast cancers,controls HDAc1-dependent transcriptional regulation of ERa levels upon mitogenic stimuli,controlling HDAc1 recruitment to the ERa ***,cell treatment with both mTOR and HDAcs inhibitors shows an additive effect in inhibiting breast cancer *** confirms the novel cross-talk between the HDAc1 and PI3K pathways with clinical implications towards the treatment of this malignant disease.

This work addresses the alloying of titanium aluminides used in aircraft engine applications and automobiles. The oxidation resistance behavior of two titanium aluminides of α2 ＋ γ （Ti3Al ＋ TiAl） and orthorhombic Ti2NbAl, recognized as candidates for high-temperature applications, was investigated by exposure of the alloys for 100 h in air. Thus, oxidation resistance was expressed as the mass gain rate, whereas surface aspects were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy in conjunction with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and the type of oxidation products was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The orthorhombic Ti2NbAl alloy was embrittled, and pores and microcracks were formed as a result of oxygen diffusion through the external oxide layer formed during thermal oxidation for 100 h.

To clarify which factors may influence pathological tumor response and affect clinical outcomes in patients with locally advanced rectal carcinoma treated with neo-adjuvant chemoradiotherapy and *** regression grade (TRG) according to the Dworak system and yTNM stage were assessed and correlated with pre-treatment clinico-pathological variables in 215 clinically locally advanced (cTNM stage II and III) rectal carcinomas. Prognostic value of all pathological and clinical factors on disease free survival (DFS) and cancer specific survival (cSS) was analyzed by Kaplan Meier and cox-regression ***+ status, mucinous histotype or poor differentiation in the pre-treatment biopsy were significantly associated with lower pathological response (low Dworak grade and TNM remaining unchanged/upstaging). cases showing acellular mucin pools in surgical specimens all had unremarkable clinical courses with no deaths or recurrences during follow-up. Dworak grade had prognostic significance for DFS and cSS. However, compared to the 5-tiered system, a simplified two-tiered grading system, in which grades 0, 1 and 2 were grouped as absent/partial regression and grades 3 and 4 were grouped as total/subtotal regression, was more reproducible and prognostically informative. The two-tiered Dworak system, yN stage, craniocaudal extension of the tumor and radial margin status were significant independent prognostic *** data suggest that caution should be applied in using a conservative approach in rectal carcinomas with cN+ status, extensive/lower involvement of the rectum and mucinous histotype or poor differentiation. Although Dworak TRG is prognostically significant, a simplified two-tiered system could be preferable. Finally, cases with acellular mucin pools should be carefully evaluated to definitely exclude residual mucinous carcinoma.
