Effects of temperature and diet on length-weight relationship and condition factor of the juvenile Malabar blood snapper(Lutjanus malabaricus Bloch & Schneider, 1801)

In this study we aimed to analyze the effects of water temperature and diet on the length-weight rela- tionship and condition of juvenile Malabar blood snapper Lutjanus malabaricus over a 30-d experimental period. The experiment was conducted in the laboratory using a flow-through-sea-water system. The fish were subjected to four different temperatures （22, 26, 30, and 34 ℃） and two diets （commercial pellet and natural shrimp）. Fish were fed twice daily. L. malabancus exhibited negative allometric growth （b〈3） at the beginning of the experiment （Day 0） at all temperatures and both diets except for 22 ℃ fed with shrimp, which showed isometric growth （b=3）. Conversely, at the end of the experiment （Day 30） fish showed isometric growth （b=3） at 30 ℃ fed with the pellet diet, indicating that the shape of the fish did not change with increasing weight and length, and a positive allometric growth （b〉3） at 30 ℃ fed with shrimp diet, which indicated that fish weight increases faster than their length. The rest of the temperatures represented negative allometric growth （b〈3） on both diet, meaning that fish became lighter with increasing size. The condition factors in the initial and final measurements were greater than 1, indicating the state of health of the fish, except for those fed on a pellet diet at 34 ℃. However, the best condition was obtained at 30 ℃ on both diets. Nev- ertheless, diets did not have a significant effect on growth and condition of juvenile L. malabaricus. The data obtained from this study suggested culturing L. malabaricus at 30 ℃ and feeding on the pellet or shrimp diet, which will optimize the overall production and condition of this commercially important fish species.

The study aims to afford a deeper knowledge on reproductive biology of Mystus bleekeri from Surma River,Bangladesh in a multidisciplinary ***,the species is in demand as food and ornamental fish in Bangladesh but still now comprehensive details on reproductive biology of this species is *** 600 fish samples were derived from commercial catches from July 2018 to June *** differences in sex ratio,size distribution,condition factor(Kn),fecundity,gonadosomatic index and gonadal maturation cycle were *** results showed 384(64%)female and 216(36%)male with an overall sex ratio of 1.77:1(female:male).Mean total length(TL)and body weight(BW)of all fish studied were 14.85±3.38 cm TL and 27.54±15.76 g,*** Kn varied with length groups,the highest(1.45±0.23)and lowest(0.89±0.18)values obtained in 16.0-16.9 and 10.0-10.9 cm TL groups,*** highest Kn was documented in October while the lowest was in *** GSI values showed two peaks in July and November for both the *** fecundity was found to vary from 1120 to 14790 eggs with average value of 4968±3047 with 14.4-18.3 cm in TL and 19.97-34.7g in *** relationship of fecundity with TL and BW was F=1.385TL13.405,r^(2)=0.885 and F=5.201BW^(4.827),r^(2)=*** behavior of spawning together with allochronic oocytes development has also been found through *** results of this study could be used for predicting the response of populations of fish in Surma River and/or other where to human interferences and environmental change.

The significant rise of ultra-violet（UV） radiation and pathogenic infectious bacteria poses a serious threat to global *** researchers' interests are attracted by novel materials with strong UVblocking ability,antibacterial activity and low toxicity to other *** this case,a simple wet chemical method with different annealing temperatures（400,500,and 600℃） was employed to create highly effective rare earth（Sm）-doped ZnO ***（101） plane of wurtzite ZnO shifts towards a lower angle with increasing annealing temperature,according to the X-ray diffraction（XRD） study findings,which additionally establishes the consequence of lattice *** of doublet peaks of Sm 3d(Sm 3d5/2and Sm 3d3/2) in the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） spectrum clearly validates the substitution of Sm3+ions in the 500℃-annealed *** 500℃-annealed nanorods exhibit combined performances of the wide band gap,improved UV absorbance,and vivid green luminescent emission（563 nm）.Additio nally,the nanorods have favorable UV-blocking execution of 96% for UVA at 360 nm,92% for UVB at 320 nm,and 57% for UVC at 225 nm,which is greater than the majority of ZnO-related materials that have been reported up to this *** doping is also appropriate for improving bacterial inhibition against the two studied strains（Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus）,in addition to the intriguing features discussed ***,with maximum inhibition zone diameters of 20±0.72 and 18±0.57 mm,respectively,these nanorods exhibit high inhibitory action against *** and *** bacterial *** rare earth-doped material developed during the current experiment,which was annealed at 500℃,could potentially serve as an effective replacement for UV-blocking and antibacterial material,especially for biomedical applications.

Objective:To evaluate the wound healing and antimicrobial activity of root extracts of Ixora coccinea(***).Methods:To investigate the wound healing efficacy of root extract of *** Linn,five groups of animals were divided each containing six *** wound models including incision and excision wound models were used in this *** parameters studied were tensile strength on incision wound model and in terms of wound contraction for excision wound model were compared with standard Nitrofurazone(NFZ) ointment(0.2%w/w). Six extracts(***,petroleum ether,benzene,chloroform and ethyl acetate ) of I. coccinea were screened for in vitro growth inhibiting activity against different bacterial strains riz. Staphylococcia *** pumilius,Enterococcus *** coli,Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungi Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger were compared with the standard drugs ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol for antibacterial and griscofulvin for antifungal *** serial dilution and cup(or) well plate methods were used for the antimicrobial study and MIC was ***:The ethanolic extract showed significant (P<0.001) wound healing activity when compared to standard drug NFZ with respect to normal control *** *** extract showed highly significant antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains used in this study when compared to *** aqueous extract showed moderate significant inhibition against all bacterial strains when compared to standard. All the extracts were shown negligible activity against the fungal strains used in this study. NaYF_(4):Eu nanorods with high aspect ratios are elaborated and optically trapped using dual fiber optical tweezers in a counterpropagating geometry. High trapping efficiency is observed using converging beams, emitted from diffractive Fresnel lenses directly 3D printed onto cleaved fiber facets. Stable nanorod trapping and alignment are reported for a fiber-to-fiber distance of 200 μm and light powers down to 10 m W. Trapping of nanorod clusters containing one to three nanorods and the coupling of nanorod motion in both axial and transverse directions are considered and discussed. The europium emission is studied by polarization-resolved spectroscopy with particular emphasis on the magnetic and electric dipole transitions. The respective σ and π orientations of the different emission lines are determined. The angles with respect to the nanorod axes of the corresponding magnetic and electric dipoles are calculated. Mono-exponential emission decay with decay time of 4–5 ms is reported. It is shown that the nanorod orientation can be determined by purely spectroscopic means.
