Objective:To explore the prevalence,pathogenicity,and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of urinary tract infections at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching ***:Samples from 400 patients with a presumptive diagnosis of urinary tract infection including 250 non pregnant females and 150 males were used for this *** were distributed into two groups: children aged 2 to 17(Croup A) and adults aged 18 to 75(Croup B).The standard wire loop and agar diffusion technique were employed for culture and susceptibility testing,*** obtained were analysed using SPSS,version ***:30.0%of Group A and 41.0%of Group B had significant bacteriuria with 66.7%and 79.3%as females,*** commonest isolates cultured were Escherichia coli(32.8%),Staphylococcus aureus(17.2%),and Klebsiella spp.(16.4%).About 76.6%of isolates were sensitive to the fluorinated quinolones,31.2%to the aminoglycosides,and 22.7%to the urinary antiseptic,*** isolates were nonsensitive to tetracycline(93.8%),cotrimoxazole(92.2%),and nalidixic acid(86.7%).Most isolates showed non-uniform sensitivity patterns to the cephaloporins(cefuroxime and ceftazidime). Pseudomonas *** were generally resistant to the fluorinated ***: Though the fluorinated quinolones are still largely effective for empirical therapy in urinary tract infections,the importance of prior sensitivity testing in checking the emergence of bacterial antibiotic resistance can not be overemphasized.

Lemon grass(Cymbopogon citratus Stapf) is a popular alternative to western medicines for a number of conditions, including fevers,muscle soreness and superficial infections in *** addition to its already reported suppressive effects against *** infection,this study sought to determine its repository and blood schizonticidal activities in established *** infection using Swiss albino mice as *** weighing on average, between 15 and 25g were given 103mg/kg,155mg/kg and 310mg/kg/day of the crude aqueous extract of cymbopogon citratus stapf,in the 4-day test,24-hour Rane test and 72-hour Rane *** effects of these doses of the extract were then compared with chloroquine(5mg/kg/day) and sulphadoxine/pyrimethamine (3mg/kg/day).We report an average percentage suppressive repository activity of 65.8%for the extract at a dose of 310mg/kg and a blood schizonticidal activity that increased from 68.33%in the 24-hour Rane test to 92%in the 72-hour Rane test for the same dose of *** crude aqueous extract of *** stapf thus has significant repository and blood schizonticidal activities against established *** infection in Swiss albino mice compare to that of pyrimethamine and sulphadoxine/pyrimethamine respectively.

Objective:To compare the two methods of rapid diagnostic tests(RDTs)and microscopy in the diagnosis of ***:RDTs and microscopy were carried out to diagnose malaria. Percentage malaria parasitaemia was calculated on thin films and all non-acute cases of plasmodiasis with less than 0.001%malaria parasitaemia were regarded as *** were simply presented as percentage positive of the total number of patients under *** results of RDTs were compared to those of microscopy while those of RDTs based on antigen were compared to those of RDTs based on ***' follow-up was made for all ***: All the 200 patients under present study tested positive to RDTs based on malaria antibodies(serum)method(100%).128 out of 200 tested positive to RDTs based on malaria antigen(whole blood)method(64%),while 118 out of 200 patients under present study tested positive to visual microscopy of Lieshman and diluted Giemsa(59%).All patients that tested positive to microscopy also tested positive to RDTs based on *** patients on the second day of follow-up were non-febrile and had antimalaria ***;We conclude based on the present study that the RDTs based on malaria antigen(whole blood)method is as specific as the traditional microscopy and even appears more sensitive than *** RDTs based on antibody(serum)method is unspecific thus it should not be *** is most likely that Africa being an endemic region,formation of certain levels of malaria antibody may not be *** present study also supports the opinion that a good number of febrile cases is not due to malaria. An analysis of the changes in vegetation cover on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia in 2000–2021 due to climatic trends was carried out based on the MODIS *** changes in vegetation cover were estimated based on trends in Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)and Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI).In general,in the 21st century,an increase in the biomass of vegetation cover is *** trends were observed in 16%–22%of the territory,and negative only in 1%–3%.For about 20%of the analyzed territory,a significant influence of climate on the changes in vegetation cover was *** most pronounced negative impact on vegetation cover was caused by summer air and soil temperatures,spring temperature,and summer winds,and the positive impact was caused by summer precipitation and soil *** response of the vegetation cover to climate was non-uniform concerning the ***,a significant correlation with the amount of precipitation was observed for~20%–35%of vegetation growing below 600 m above sea level and for less than 5%above this *** negative effect of summer temperatures on plants prevailed mainly at an elevation below~1400 m above sea *** climate change is likely to lead to significant degradation of vegetation in the steppe and foreststeppe in Khakassia in the coming decades.

This paper focuses on a method to solve structural optimization problems using particle swarm optimization （PSO）, surrogate models and Bayesian statistics. PSO is a random/stochastic search algorithm designed to find the global optimum. However, PSO needs many evaluations compared to gradient-based optimization. This means PSO increases the analysis costs of structural optimization. One of the methods to reduce computing costs in stochastic optimization is to use approximation techniques. In this work, surrogate models are used, including the response surface method （RSM） and Kriging. When surrogate models are used, there are some errors between exact values and approximated values. These errors decrease the reliability of the optimum values and discard the realistic approximation of using surrogate models. In this paper, Bayesian statistics is used to obtain more reliable results. To verify and confirm the efficiency of the proposed method using surrogate models and Bayesian statistics for stochastic structural optimization, two numerical examples are optimized, and the optimization of a hub sleeve is demonstrated as a practical problem.

The amount of piggery wastewater as domestic livestock is *** volume of piggery wastewater produced is less than the volume of other wastewaters,but piggery wastewater has a heavy impact on wastewater streams due to an extremely high concentration of nitrogen and *** this study,laboratory reactors were operated using piggery wastewater and the effluent of anaerobic digester from piggery wastewater *** purpose of this study was to induce the nitritation process,which is an economically advantageous nitrogen removal method that converts ammonium nitrogen into *** results showed that the effluent of anaerobic digester from piggery wastewater was more efficient than raw piggery wastewater in terms of inducing *** can be deduced that nitritation is largely affected by an organic fraction of piggery *** can also be concluded that a small amount of biodegradable organic matter in piggery wastewater is efficient in inducing nitritation.

In an effort to protect the quality of the water system, interest in non-point source pollution is increasing. Recently, studies of non-point sources pollution are continuing in relation to various land- use areas, but such studies have not been fully conducted in railway facility sites. Using monitoring data of railway bridge area with concrete road-bed, the runoff characteristics, pollutant unit loads, and first flush criteria were assessed. Railway bridge area with concrete road-bed typically show the first flush effect, and the pollutant unit load was determined to be higher than other public facilities areas. Further, the first flush criteria show an effective rainfall amount of 7 mm. In other words, from the runoff of railway facilities, considerable amounts of non-point source pollutants are occurred, indicating the need to create best management practices which are adequate for railway facility sites.
