Objective:Many daily activities involve intrinsic or extrinsic goal-directed eye and hand *** extensive visuomotor coordination network including nigro-striatal pathways is required for efficient timing and positioning of eyes and *** aim of this study was to investigate how Parkinsons disease(PD)affects eye-hand coordination in tasks with different cognitive ***:We used a touch screen,an eye-tracking device and a motion capturing system to quantify changes in eye-hand coordination in early-stage PD patients(H&Y<2.5)and age-matched *** and kinematics of eye and hand were quantified in four eye-hand coordination tasks(pro-tapping,dual planning,anti-tapping and spatial memory task).Results:In the pro-tapping task,saccade initiation towards extrinsic goals was not ***,in the dual planning and anti-tapping task initiation of saccades towards intrinsic goals was faster in PD *** movements were differently affected:initiation of the hand movement was only delayed in the pro-tapping and dual planning ***,hand movements in PD patients were slower executed compared to ***:Whereas initiation of saccades in an extrinsic goal-directed task(pro-tapping task)is not affected,early stage PD patients have difficulty in suppressing reflexive saccades towards extrinsic goals in tasks where the endpoint is an intrinsic goal(*** planning and anti-tapping task).This is specific for eye movements,as hand movements have delayed responses in the pro-tapping and dual planning *** suggests that reported impairment of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in early-stage PD patients affects only inhibition of eye *** conclude that timing and kinematics of eye and hand movements in visuomotor tasks are affected in PD *** result may have clinical significance by providing a behavioral marker for the early diagnosis of PD.

It is well known that the sufficient family of time-optimal paths for both Dubins' as well as Reeds-Shepp' s car models consist of the concatenation of circular arcs with maximum curvature and straight line segments, all tangentially connected. These time-optimal solutions suffer from some drawbacks. Their discontinuous curvature profile, together with the wear and impairment on the control equipment that the bang-bang solutions induce, calls for ' smoother' and more supple reference paths to follow. Avoiding the bang-bang solutions also raises the robustness with respect to any possible uncertainties. In this paper, our main tool for generating these “nearly time-optimal” , but nevertheless continuous-curvature paths, is to use the Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP) and make an appropriate and cunning choice of the Lagrangian function. Despite some rewarding simulation results, this concept turns out to be numerically divergent at some instances. Upon a more careful investigation, it can be concluded that the problem at hand is nearly singular. This is seen by applying the PMP to Dubins car and studying the corresponding two point boundary value problem, which turn out to be singular. Realizing this, one is able to contradict the widespread belief that all the information about the motion of a mobile platform lies in the initial values of the auxiliary variables associated with the PMP. Invisibility or unhearability cloaks have been made possible by using metamaterials enabling light or sound to fow around obstacle without the trace of refections or *** are known for being fexible building units that can mimic a host of unusual and extreme material responses,which are essential when engineering artifcial material properties to realize a coordinate transforming *** and stretching the coordinate grid in space require stringent material parameters;therefore,small inaccuracies and inevitable material losses become sources for unwanted scattering that are decremental to the desired *** obstacles further limit the possibility of achieving a robust concealment of sizeable objects from either radar or sonar *** using an elaborate arrangement of gain and lossy acoustic media respecting parity-time symmetry,we built a one-way unhearability cloak able to hide objects seven times larger than the acoustic *** speaking,our approach has no limits in terms of working frequency,shape,or size,specifcally though we demonstrate how,in principle,an object of the size of a human can be hidden from audible sound.

Due to their unique thermal, electronic and mechanical properties, carbon nanotubes （CNTs） have aroused various attentions of many researchers. Among all the techniques to fabricate CNTs, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition （PECVD） has been extensively developed as one growth technique to produce verticallyaligned car bon nanotubes （VACNTs）. Though CNTs show a trend to be integrated into nanoelectromechanical system （NEMS）, CNT growth still remains a mysterious technology. This paper attempts to reveal the effects of substrates and un derlayers to CNT synthesis. We tried five different substrates by substituting intrinsic Si with high resistivity ones and byincreasing the thickness of SiO2 insulativity layer. And also, we demonstrated an innovative way of adjusting CNT den sity by changing the thickness of Cu underlayer.

The aim of this study was to correlate plumage variation with the amount of genomic hybrid content in hybrids between Azure Tits Cyanistes cyanus(Pallas,1770)and European Blue Tit Cyanistes caeruleus(Linnaeus,1758),by re-sequencing the genomes of museum specimens of non-hybrids and presumed hybrids with varying *** project was funded by crowdsourcing and initiated when two presumed Azure Tits,observed by hundreds of Swedish birdwatchers,were rejected as hybrids based on minor plumage deviations assumed to indicate hybrid contents from the European Blue *** results confirm that hybrids with intermediate plumages,so called Pleske’s Tits,are first generation hybrids(F1 hybrids).Individuals,whose plumages are similar to Azure Tits,but assessed as hybrids based on minor plumage deviations,are all backcrosses but vary in their degree of hybrid ***,some individuals morphologically recognized as pure Azure Tits expressed similar degrees of hybrid *** results indicate that:(1)hybrid content may be widespread in Azure Tits in the western part of its habitat distribution;(2)plumage deviation in backcrosses is not linearly correlated with the genetic degree of hybrid origin;and(3)all Azure Tits observed in Europe outside its natural distribution may have some degree of hybrid *** therefore suggest that it is very difficult to phenotypically single out hybrids beyond first generation *** argue that decreased sequencing costs and improved analytical tools open the doors for museomic crowd-sourced projects that may not address outstanding biological questions but have a major interest for lay citizens such as birdwatchers.

Right portal vein ligation (PVL) is a safe and widespread procedure to induce controlateral liver hypertrophy for the treatment of bilobar colorectal liver metastases. We report a case of a 60-year-old man treated by both right PVL and ligation of the glissonian branches of segment 4 for colorectal liver metastases surrounding the right and median hepatic veins. After surgery, the patient developed massive hepatic necrosis with secondary pulmonary and renal insufficiency requiring transfer to the intensive care unit. This so-called toxic liver syndrome finally regressed after hemofiltration and positive oxygen therapy. Diagnosis of acute congestion of the ligated lobe was suspected. The mechanism suspected was an increase in arterial inflow secondary to portal vein ligation concomitant with a decrease in venous outflow due to liver metastases encircling the right and median hepatic vein. This is the first documented case of toxic liver syndrome in a non-cirrhotic patient with favorable issue, and a rare complication of PVL.

Descriptive IoT Based Design and Implementation of a 3-Input Automatic Transfer Switch with Data Logging Features

Electricity is crucial for critical sectors such as banking, healthcare, education, and business. However, in developing nations like Cameroon, persistent power fluctuations and outages present significant challenges, leading to communication disruptions, food spoilage, water supply interruptions, and financial losses. This study proposes a novel solution: a three-input automatic transfer switch integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) and data logging capabilities. The system automatically switches between three independent power sources based on priority and availability, employing electromechanical contactors, relays, and timers for seamless switching. It incorporates ATMEGA328P microcontrollers, a GSM module for communication, and an SD card module for efficient data logging. Safety measures, such as miniature circuit breakers, voltage monitoring relays, and proper grounding, ensure user protection and system integrity. A user-friendly mobile application enables remote manual switching and real-time system information requests, while SMS notifications inform consumers about power source changes. The system has a power rating of 4.752 kW, accommodating a maximum continuous load of the same value. Voltage dividers provide a reliable 3.37 VDC output from a 12 VDC input, and data logging operates effectively by storing system data onto an SD card every 1.5 seconds. Comprehensive testing validates the system’s performance, with an average percentage error of 2.31% compared to actual values, falling within an acceptable range. This solution distinguishes itself by incorporating modern technologies like data logging and IoT, addressing the limitations of existing alternatives.
