Grapevine embodies a fascinating species as regards phenotypic plasticity and genotype-per-environment *** terroir,namely the set of agri-environmental factors to which a variety is subjected,can influence the phenotype at the physiological,molecular,and biochemical level,representing an important phenomenon connected to the typicality of *** investigated the determinants of plasticity by conducting a field-experiment where all terroir variables,except soil,were kept as constant as *** isolated the effect of soils collected from different areas,on phenology,physiology,and transcriptional responses of skin and flesh of a red and a white variety of great economic value:Corvina and *** results,together with physio-phenological parameters,suggest a specific effect of soil on grapevine plastic response,highlighting a higher transcriptional plasticity of Glera in respect to Corvina and a marked response of skin compared to *** a novel statistical approach,we identified clusters of plastic genes subjected to the specific influence of *** findings could represent an issue of applicative value,posing the basis for targeted agricultural practices to enhance the desired characteristics for any soil/cultivar combination,to improve vineyards management for a better resource usage and to valorize vineyards uniqueness maximizing the terroir-effect.

BACKGROUND Melatonin(MLT)is a potent antioxidant molecule that is shown to have a beneficial effect in various pathological situations,due to its action against free *** To evaluate the effect of MLT on carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4))induced liver injury in rats in terms of oxidative stress,reticular stress,and cell *** Twenty male Wistar rats(230-250 g)were divided into four groups:Control rats,rats treated with MLT alone,rats treated with CCl_(4)alone,and rats treated with CCl_(4)plus ***_(4)was administered as follows:Ten doses every 5 d,ten every 4 d,and seven every 3 *** was administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 20 mg/kg from the 10th wk to the end of the experiment(16th wk).RESULTS MLT was able to reduce the release of liver enzymes in the bloodstream and to decrease oxidative stress in CCl_(4)treated rats by decreasing the level of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and increasing superoxide dismutase activity,with a lower reduction in serum zinc levels,guaranteeing a reduction in liver damage;additionally,it increased the expression of nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 and decreased the expression of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein *** also decreased the expression of the proteins associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress,i.e.,glucose-regulated protein 78 and activating transcription factor 6,as well as of heat shock factor 1 and heat shock protein *** MLT has a hepatoprotective effect in an experimental model of CCl_(4)-induced liver injury,since it reduces oxidative stress,restores zinc levels,and modulates endoplasmic reticulum stress.

Vengono presemati i risuhati in una ricerca condoua nel 1991 sulla biologia riproduttivadi una popolazione di Sturns vulgaris nidificante nella 《colombaia》 di una cascina della pianura lombar-da. L’inizio della costruzione dei nidi è compreso tra il 15 matzo e il 2 aprile. I nidi sono stall terminatiin tin tempo medio di 4,6 giorni （2-9）, nel 20,40% delle 338 cavità disponibili. Tra l’ultimazione del nidoe l’inizio delle deposizioni trascorrono in media 2,6 giorni （0-10）. L’inizio delle 《prime》 deposizioni ècompreso tra il 22 marzo （data precoce a livello europeo） e il 9 aprile; quello delle 《intermedie》 trail 24 aprile e I’ll gingno; quello delle 《seconde》 trail 29 aprile e il 16 giugno. La dimensionc mediadelle covate è 5,4 nova （3-8）. Le uova inisnrano in media nun 29,5×21,2 e pesano g 6,9 （n= 148）. Ladurata media dell’incubazione è. 12,2 giorni （11-15）, quella dell’allevamento dei pnlli di 15,5 （13-22）,con una differenza significativa tra le I covate （19,1） e le successive （14,9）. Il numero medio di pulliper covata alla schiusa è 4,5 （1-7）; quello dei pulli per nidiata all’involo di 3,3 （1-6）. Il lasso di schiusaè del 71,2%, quello d’involo del 47.5%; in entrambi i cast i valori più elevati si collocano in corrisponden-za delle covate di 6 nova. II snccesso riprodnttivo è del 33,8%, con una media di 1,9 pulli per covatae una differenza significativa tra le I covate （0,8） e le successive （intermedie= 2,4; II = 3）. I risuhati evi-denziano la notevole influenza svoha dalle condizioni meteorologiche sull’andamento della nidificazionee soprattutto sul successo riproduttivo. AIM: To evaluate the potential interference of trunk fat (TF) mass on metabolic and skeletal metabolism. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 340 obese women (mean age: 44.8 ± 14 years; body mass index: 36.0 ± 5.9 kg/m 2 ) were included. Patients were evaluated for serum vitamin D, osteocalcin (OSCA), inflammatory markers, lipids, glucose and insulin (homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, HOMA-IR) levels, and hormones profile. Moreover, all patients underwent measurements of bone mineral density (BMD;at lumbar and hip site) and body composition (lean mass, total and trunk fat mass) by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. RESULTS: Data showed that: (1) high TF mass was inversely correlated with low BMD both at lumbar (P dimentation rate (P directly correlated with IGF-1 (P < 0.0005), lumbar (P < 0.006) and hip (P < 0.01) BMD; and (4) inversely with HOMA-IR (P < 0.001) and fibrinogen (P < 0.0005). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that only vitamin D was independent of TF variable. CONCLUSION: In obese women, TF negatively correlates with BMD independently from vitamin D levels. Reduced IGF-1 and increased inflammatory markers might be some important determinants that account for this relationship.

We report a case of primary colonic lymphoma incidentally diagnosed in a patient presenting a gallbladder attack making particular attention on the diagnostic findings at ultrasound(US) and total body computed tomography(CT) exams that allowed us to make the correct final diagnosis.A 85-year-old Caucasian male patient was referred to our department due to acute pain at the upper right quadrant,spreaded to the right shoulder *** had nausea and mild fever and Murphy's maneuver was *** physical examination a large bulky mass was found in the right *** underwent to US exam that detected a big stone in the lumen of the gallbladder and in correspon-dence of the palpable mass,an extended concentric thickening of the colic *** scan was performed and confirmed a widespread and concentric thickening of the wall of the ascending colon and *** addition,revealed signs of microperforation of the colic *** large lymphadenopathies were found in the abdominal,pelvic and thoracic cavity and there was a condition of splenomegaly,with some ischemic outcomes in the context of the *** metastasis in the parenchimatous organs were *** imaging findings suggest us the diagnosis of *** underwent to surgery,and right hemicolectomy and cholecystectomy was *** examination confirmed our diagnosis,revealing a diffuse large B-cell *** patient underwent to Cyclophosphamide,Hydroxydaunorubicin,Oncovin,Prednisone chemotherapy showing only a partial regression of the lymphadenopathies,being in advanced stage at the time of diagnosis.
