Maize (Zea mays L.) is the major cereal cultivated in Benin and it is important to know its genetic diversity to improve the yield. The genetic markers of important traits are evaluated in order to improve the maize inbred lines. The aim of th.s.study was to evaluate the genetic diversity of Benin’s maize accessions by ssR marker. Th.s. one hundred eighty seven maize accessions from three areas (south, Center and North) were analyzed using three ssR markers. A total of 227 polymorphic bands were produced and showed high genetic diversity (shannon index = 0.51). The polymorphic information content (PIC) values for the ssR loci ranged from 0.58 to 0.81, with an average of 0.71. Genetic distance-based UPGMA dendrogram showed a genetic differentiation between accessions and they were grouped into four clusters in each area. Th.s.work provides necessary information that can be used not only to improve the maize production and conservation but also to better manage genetic species resources in Benin.

Introduction: In haemodialysis patients, the risk of acquiring blood-borne viral infections is an important cause of the dialysis’s process. Indeed, viral infections are quite common in chronic haemodialysis patients including th.s. due to viral hepatitis B and hIV. Objective: Determine the prevalence of hIV infection and hepatitis B infection among chronic hemodialysis patients of Togo. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in chronic hemodialysis patients of Togo from January 1st to December 31st, 2016. sociodemographic and clinical data were collected. Antigen h.s.was screened by a rapid immunochromatographic test (sD BIOLINE? h.s.g), and hIV antibodies were detected using a combination of 2 rapid diagnostic test, sD BIOLINE? hIV-1/2 (first step) and TRIDOT test (second step). Results: During the study period, 95 subjects were included. Patient’s age was ranking from 13 to 80 years with a mean of 46.6 years. The sex-ratio (M/F) was 1.8 and a duration average of dialysis was 51.7 months. The aetiologies of the chronic endstage kidney failure were related respectively to a vascular renal disease for 42.1% of the patients, glomerular nephropaty for 34.74%, interstitial nephropaty for 9.47% and hereditary for 3.16%. For 10.53% of the patients, the initial renal disease remained indefinite. Prevalence of antigen h.s.and hIV antibodies were respectively 10.5% and 7.4%. The frequency of co-infection hBV and hIV was 1.1%. Conclusion: The rates of hBV infection and hIV infection remain high in chronic hemodialysis in Togo, somewhat which is linked to an endemic aspect of th.s. two viruses in the country. The type of initial renal disease (glomerular) and the vascular way (the central catheters) established the risk factors for the hIV infection while for the infection of hVB no factor was incriminated.

Evaluation of Therapeutic Adherence in Patients suffering from Chronic Inflammatory Rheumatism in the Rheumatology Wards of Lomé (Togo)

Objectives: Therapeutic compliance can be defined as the degree of adequacy between a patient’s behaviour and h.s.doctor’s recommendations. Non-adherence to treatment h.s.serious consequences in terms of morbidity and mortality. Our aim was to assess adherence among patients treated for chronic inflammatory rheumatism in Lomé. Patients and Methods: Th.s.was a multicentre cross-sectional study conducted from January 2015 to December 2021. Patients aged 18 years or older, treated in the rheumatology departments of the sylvanus Olympio University h.s.ital or the Bè h.s.ital during the study period, were included if they were diagnosed with chronic inflammatory rheumatism and started on disease-modifying therapy. Adherence was assessed using the Compliance Questionnaire Rheumatology 19 questionnaire, with a threshold for good compliance set at 80%. Results: Out of 13,214 patients received, 159 suffered from chronic inflammatory rheumatism (h.s.ital frequency 1.5%), and 60 met the inclusion criteria for our study. There were 55 women (91.7%) and 5 men (8.3%), giving a sex-ratio of 1/11. The mean age was 49.5 ± 13.5 years (extremes: 19 and 78 years). Rheumatoid arthritis (68.3%) was the most common rheumatic disease, followed by undefined rheumatic diseases (16.6%) and spondyloarthritis (8.3%). Average compliance with treatment was 76.9% ± 12.4% (extremes 29.8 and 91.2). There was no statistically significant difference according to the type of rheumatism. Conclusion: Overall compliance was poor, with a Compliance Questionnaire Rheumatology 19 of less than 80%. It was non-significantly influenced by socioeconomic status, disease severity and duration of progression.

Background: staphylococcal infections are managed by hygiene measures and usage of antibiotics. The first-line treatment refers to beta-lactamins. however, the emergence of beta-lactamin resistant staphylococcal strains h.s.been reported, as demonstrated by a study conducted in Lomé University Teaching h.s.ital, Bacteriology Laboratory (2001) on 742 staphylococcus aureus strains which revealed 67.00% of them where methicillin resistant. In th.s.setting of emergent methicillin-resistant strains, the second-line treatments are prescribed by clinicians without antibiograms. Fluoroquinolones are the first preference molecules used for second-line treatment because of their efficacy and affordability. We want to contribute to setting monitoring and alert-making tools for drug prescribers. Th.s.we conducted th.s.study, aiming to determine the frequency of s. aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNs) strains isolation in different types of biologic samples, and to investigate the link between methicillin resistance and ciprofloxacin resistance. Methods: We conducted th.s.study from January 2006 through Jun 2010. The Microbiology Laboratory service collected and analyzed samples for diagnostic purpose from inpatients and outpatients consulted in the h.s.ital. We collected and analyzed de-identified data on th.s. patients to form laboratory records. Bacteriological analyses in which ciprofloxacin have not been tested were excluded. Results: Over the 1108 staphylococal strains isolated from various biological samples processed, 751 were staphylococcus aureus and 357 were coagulase-negative staphylococci. The strains sensitivity profile is for all isolates. The majority of germs were s. aureus and 20% of them were ciprofloxacin-resistant. The probability of a patient who h.s.an infection caused by s. aureus increases h.s.stay in high-risk settings such as intensive care unit, surgical intervention, extended h.s.italization, use of a catheter. Objectives: To determine the epidemiological, clinical, and bacteriological characteristics of septic arthritis of the hip (SAH) among patients h.s.italized in the departments of Rheumatology in Lomé. strong>Patients and Methods:strong> Th.s.was a multicentre, descriptive study, conducted over a 16-year period, from January 2004 to December 2020 on patients’ records at the three departments of Rheumatology in Lomé. We included in th.s.study only patients with complete laboratory and radiological data. Patients who underwent hip replacement surgery and th.s. with arthritis of the hip due to all inflammatory arthropathies were excluded. The diagnosis of sAh was based on clinical, radiological and bacteriological features. In the absence of bacteriological confirmation, the presumptive etiological diagnosis was based on epidemiological data, contacting with a person with tuberculosis, the presence of high-grade fever, the mode of presentation of the symptoms, the patient’s general appearance, and the result of the tuberculin skin test. The data was collected using Epi info 7.0 and statistical analysis was performed using sTATA/IC 11.0. strong>Results:strong> Out of 3776 patients h.s.italized in the three departments over the study period, 705 (18.67%) were diagnosed with.s.ptic arthritis of which 70 (9.92%) patients with.s.h. The 70 patients with.s.h were 44 (62.86%) females, and 26 (37.14%) males, with a sex ratio of 1.7 F/M. The mean age of the patients was 42.43 ± 19.37 years (range: 5 years and 80 years) and the mean duration of symptoms was 6.57 ± 8.85 months (range: 2 days and 48 months). The pain was inflammatory in nature in 46 (65.71%) and mechanical in nature in 24 (34.29%) patients. The onset of the disease was progressive in 50 (71.43%) patients and sudden in 20 (28.57%) patients. The cereal group occupies a prominent place in the dietary habits of people in northern Benin and there is little recent information on cereal consumption. Th.s.study aims to assess the consumption, acquisition and supply of cereals to households in the community of Djougou. A semi-directive survey with KoBoCollect was conducted among 369 households to collect individual cereal food consumption data. The survey data processed by statistical tools showed that the most consumed cereals are maize (95%, p = 0.887), millet (58%, p = 0.755), rice (55%, p = 0.753), sorghum (15%, p = 0.635), wheat (5%, p = 0.920) and fonio barely 5%. The most common mode of acquisition in Djougou is purch.s. (50%, p = 0.947) but donation is also observed (25%, p = 0.988) as well as production observed in 20.6% of households. Purch.s.s are made from retailers in local markets (45%, p = 0.920) but also in streets and alleys (30%, p = 0.765). The most widely used preservation technique is drying at room temperature (70%, p = 0.995). households most often dry in the areas provided in the field (50%, p = 0.783) and at home (40%, p = 0.643). The preferred storage location is the kitchen (60%, p = 0.790). The bedroom (20%, 0.669) and the store (15%, 0.522) are the alternative places for storing cereals. In addition, the supply costs of cereals increased between 2020 and 2021. Th.s.vertiginous rise in prices is due, among other things, to the covid19 pandemic. The various data generated not only make it possible to have fresh data but also to invest them in the assessment of health risks for the achievement of a high level of protection of the health and life of consumers.

从湖南省长沙县养殖场牛胃秸秆发酵物中分离获得了一株高产内切葡聚糖酶的菌株,命名为sCUEC7.通过菌落形态、生理生化特性及16s rDNA序列分析,鉴定sCUEC7菌株为枯草芽胞杆菌(Bacillus subtilis).当培养时间为12 h、ph值为6.0、培养温度为37°C、碳源为20.0 g·L^(-1)麦芽糖、氮源为15.0 g·L^(-1)胰蛋白胨、金属离子为1.5 g·L^(-1)的Mn^(2+)的条件下,枯草芽胞杆菌sCUEC7菌株菌体生长量和内切葡聚糖酶活性均较高.在单因素实验的基础上,响应面法分析显示:培养11.9 h,初始ph值为5.9,麦芽糖含量为19.8 g·L^(-1)时,预测最高酶活力为409.0 U·mL^(-1),内切葡聚糖酶的酶活力实测值与预测值之间有较高的拟合度.sCUEC7菌株产生内切葡聚糖酶活性较高,为其秸秆饲料中的应用奠定基础.

Objectives: To determine the frequency, the clinical and radiological features of lumbar spondylolisth.s.s in a rheumatological practice in Lomé. Patients and methods: Th.s.was a cross-sectional study conducted in the rheumatology department of the sylvanus Olympio Teaching h.s.ital in Lomé between January 1997 and December 2019. Medical records of patients with.s.mptomatic spondylolisth.s.s with radiographic confirmation were reviewed. The Meyerding classification system was used for grading. Results: Of the 350 patients contacted, 118 consented to participate in the study, making a response rate of 33.71%. Of the 118, 104 (88.1%) were females. 109 (92.4%) presented with radicular pain and 9 (7.6%) presented low back pain. The mean age of the patients was 54.24 ± 11.19 years. The average duration of the pain was 4.56 ± 1.32 years. The spondylolisth.s.s level most involved was the L4 - L5 (92/118), followed by L5 - s1 (23/118). 106 (89.8%) patients had anterolisth.s.s only, seven (5.9%) combination anterolisth.s.s and retrolisth.s.s. The spondylolisth.s.s was associated with.s.ondylosis in 110 (93.2%) patients. spondylosis was found at level L4 - L5 in 38.98% patients, followed by L5 - s1 (24.58%), L3 - L4 (18.64%). Grade I slip was found in 108 (91.53%) patients and Grade II slips 10 (8.47%). Isthmic lysis was found in 40 (33.9%) patients and it was located at L4 in 30 (75.0%). Conclusion: Lumbar spondylolisth.s.s appears to be expected in Lomé patients with nonspecific back pain and mainly affects females.

Prey availability is one of the principal drivers of tiger distribution and ***,formulating effective conservation strategies requires a clear understanding of tiger *** used scat analysis in combination with data on the abundance of several prey species to estimate Amur tiger diet and preference at 3 sites in the Russian Far *** also examined the effect of pseudoreplication on estimates of tiger *** collected 770 scats across the 3 *** to previous studies,we found that tigers primarily preyed on medium to large ungulates,with wild boar,roe,sika and red deer collectively comprising 86.7%of total biomass consumed on *** to Jacobs’index,tigers preferred wild boar,and avoided sika *** in preference indices derived from th.s. scat analyses compared to indices derived from kill data appear to be due to adjustments in biomass intake when sex–age of a killed individual is known:a component missing from scat ***(multiple samples collected from a single kill site)also skewed results derived from scat *** analysis still appears useful in providing insight into the diets of carnivores when the full spectrum of prey species needs to be identified,or when sample sizes from kill data are not *** sample sizes of kill data are large(as is now possible with GPs-collared animals),kill data adjusted by sex–age categories probably provides the most accurate estimates of prey biomass *** results provide further confirmation of the centrality of medium ungulates,in particular wild boar,to Amur tiger diet,and suggest that the protection of th.s.group of species is critical to Amur tiger conservation.
