Alzheimer’s disease(AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive impairment that is a current and growing public health crisis but only has minimally effective treatments. Age is the greatest risk factor for AD, however the progression to cognitive impairment likely results from genetic(e.g., ApoE4 or mutations in APP, PS1 or PS2) and environmental(e.g., exercise, diet, and sleep) factors that influence AD pathology. The relationship between sleep and AD has important implications for the optimal clinical management and potential treatment strategies in patients with AD. Sleep disturbances are prevalent in AD patients and may play a significant role in the advancement of pathology and disease progression. However, the mechanisms underlying poor sleep and disturbed circadian rhythms in AD are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of disrupted sleep in AD prone mouse model. APP/PS1 mice at 3 months of age were sleep deprived for 72 hours using automated treadmill method and compare with age matched non-sleep deprived APP/PS1 mice as control. Open field test and morris water maze(MWM) were used to assess neurobehavioral symptoms in sleep deprived and control mice, which showed an increase in anxiety like behavior, a decrease in locomotor activity and significant decrease in learning and memory. To further explore the molecular mechanism underlying these behavioral alterations, major excitatory and inhibitory protein levels(GluR1, GluR2, NMDAR, GS, GABA α1, GABAB1, GABA) were analyzed by western blot. Results showed a significant increase in Glu R1 and decrease in GABAAα1 in prefrontal cortex while same trend was observed in hippocampus. These findings suggest altered coordination between excitatory and inhibitory neurons in sleep deprived AD mouse model. A Holistic Secure Communication Mechanism Using a Multilayered Cryptographic Protocol to Enhanced Security

Over the past 25 years, the amount of time that we spend asleep has steadily decreased. At present, there is much interest in the idea that society is chronically sleep deprived. A growing body of evidence indicates that even minor sleep loss, particularly if it accumulates over long periods of time, has notable behavioral and cognitive consequences. Recent epidemiological studies strongly suggest not only sleep problems and insomnia are typical symptoms of depression but also they are the risk factors for depression. More than 90% of depressed patients complain about impairments of sleep quality. It is therefore important to consider the possible wider physiological and systemic effects of sleep deprivation（SD）. Here we report mice experienced by SD for 24 hrs show an anxiety-like behavior in open field, plus maze and force swim test and impaired spatial memory in morris water maze test. Further, western blot results show SD causes reduction in the function of pCaMKII and pCREB mediated gene transcription. Altered levels of Ca MKII and CREB are also prevalent in depressed patients. Treatment of mice with citalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and the most used antidepressant, rescued the SD induced deficits in pCaMKII and p CREB signaling and improved behavioral deficits. These findings demonstrate that SD disrupts cognitive function by interfering with Ca MKII and CREB signaling pathway, and suggest that citalopram may provide a new therapeutic approach to counteract the deleterious effects of SD on cognition.

An advanced anaerobic biofilter（AF） was introduced for the treatment of coal gasification wastewater（CGW）,and effluent recirculation was adopted to enhance phenol removal and methane *** results indicated that AF was reliable in treating diluted CGW,while its efficiency and stability were seriously reduced when directly treating raw ***,its performance could be greatly enhanced by effluent *** optimal effluent recirculation of 0.5 to the influent,concentrations of chemical oxygen demand（COD） and total phenol in the effluent could reach as low as 234.0 and 14.2 mg/L,***,the rate of methane production reached 169.0 m L CH_4/L/*** CGW seemed to restrain the growth of anaerobic microorganisms,especially methanogens,the inhibition was temporary and reversible,and anaerobic bacteria presented strong *** activities of methanogens cultivated in CGW could quickly recover on feeding with glucose wastewater（GW）.However,the adaptability of anaerobic bacteria to the CGW was very poor and the activity of methanogens could not be improved by long-term *** analysis using the Haldane model,it was further confirmed that high effluent recirculation could result in high activity for hydrolytic bacteria and substrate affinity for toxic matters,but only suitable effluent recirculation could result in high methanogenic activity.

In this paper, the inhibition of methanogens by phenol in coal gasification wastewater（CGW）was investigated by both anaerobic toxicity tests and a lab-scale anaerobic biofilter reactor（AF）. The anaerobic toxicity tests indicated that keeping the phenol concentration in the influent under 280 mg/L could maintain the methanogenic activity. In the AF treating CGW,the result showed that adding glucose solution as co-substrate could be beneficial for the quick start-up of the reactor. The effluent chemical oxygen demand（COD） and total phenol reached1200 and 100 mg/L, respectively, and the methane production rate was 175 m L CH4/g COD/***, if the concentration of phenol was increased, the inhibition of anaerobic micro-organisms was irreversible. The threshold of total phenol for AF operation was 200–250 mg/L. The extracellular polymeric substances（EPS） and particle size distribution of anaerobic granular sludge in the different stages were also examined, and the results indicated that the influence of toxicity in the system was more serious than its effect on flocculation of EPS. Moreover, the proportion of small size anaerobic granular sludge gradually increased from10.2% to 34.6%. The results of high through-put sequencing indicated that the abundance of the Chloroflexi and Planctomycetes was inhibited by the toxicity of the CGW, and some shifts in the microbial community were observed at different stages.

Multispectral imaging has been used for numerous applications in e.g.,environmental monitoring,aerospace,defense,and ***,we present a diffractive optical network-based multispectral imaging system trained using deep learning to create a virtual spectral filter array at the output image *** diffractive multispectral imager performs spatially-coherent imaging over a large spectrum,and at the same time,routes a pre-determined set of spectral channels onto an array of pixels at the output plane,converting a monochrome focal-plane array or image sensor into a multispectral imaging device without any spectral filters or image recovery ***,the spectral responsivity of this diffractive multispectral imager is not sensitive to input polarization *** numerical simulations,we present different diffractive network designs that achieve snapshot multispectral imaging with 4,9 and 16 unique spectral bands within the visible spectrum,based on passive spatially-structured diffractive surfaces,with a compact design that axially spans ~72λ_(m),where λ_(m) is the mean wavelength of the spectral band of ***,we experimentally demonstrate a diffractive multispectral imager based on a 3D-printed diffractive network that creates at its output image plane a spatially repeating virtual spectral filter array with 2×2=4 unique bands at terahertz *** to their compact form factor and computation-free,power-efficient and polarization-insensitive forward operation,diffractive multispectral imagers can be transformative for various imaging and sensing applications and be used at different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum where high-density and wide-area multispectral pixel arrays are not widely available.
