Mode Multiplication of Cylindrical Vector Beam Using Raytracing Control

Cylindrical vector beams(CVBs)hold significant promise in mode division multiplexing communication owing to their inherent vector mode ***,existing studies for facilitating CVB channel processing are confined to mode shift conversions due to their reliance on spin-dependent helical modulations,overlooking the pursuit of mode multiplication *** challenge lies in the multiplicative operation upon inhomogeneous vector mode manipulation,which is expected to advance versatile CVB channel switching and ***,we tackle this gap by introducing a raytracing control strategy that conformally maps the light rays of CVB from the whole annulus distribution to an annular sector *** with the multifold conformal annulus-sector mappings and polarization-insensitive phase modulations,this approach facilitates the parallel transformation of input CVB into multiple complementary components,enabling the mode multiplication conversion with protected vector *** as a demonstration,we experimentally implemented the multiplicative operation of four CVB modes with the multiplier factors of𝑁N=+2 and N=−3,achieving the converted mode purities over 94.24%and 88.37%.Subsequently,200 Gbit/s quadrature phase shift keying signals were successfully transmitted upon multiplicative switching of four CVB channels,with the bit-error-rate approaching 1.1.−*** results underscore our strategy’s efficacy in CVB mode multiplication,which may open promising prospects for its advanced applications.

CO2 mineralization by typical industrial solid wastes for preparing ultrafine CaCO3: A review

Mineral carbonation is a promising CO2 sequestration strategy that can utilize industrial wastes to convert CO2 into high-value CaCO3. This review summarizes the advancements in CO2 mineralization using typical industrial wastes to prepare ultrafine CaCO3. This work surveys the mechanisms of CO2 mineralization using these wastes and its capacities to synthesize CaCO3, evaluates the effects of carbonation pathways and operating parameters on the preparation of CaCO3, analyzes the current industrial application status and economics of this technology. Due to the large amount of impurities in solid wastes, the purity of CaCO3 prepared by indirect methods is greater than that prepared by direct methods. Crystalline CaCO3 includes three polymorphs. The polymorph of CaCO3 synthesized by carbonation process is determined the combined effects of various factors. These parameters essentially impact the nucleation and growth of CaCO3 by altering the CO2 supersaturation in the reaction system and the surface energy of CaCO3 grains. Increasing the initial pH of the solution and the CO2 flow rate favors the formation of vaterite, but calcite is formed under excessively high pH. Vaterite formation is favored at lower temperatures and residence time. With increased temperature and prolonged residence time, it passes through aragonite metastable phase and eventually transforms into calcite. Moreover, polymorph modifiers can decrease the surface energy of CaCO3 grains, facilitating the synthesis of vaterite. However, the large-scale application of this technology still faces many problems, including high costs, high energy consumption, low calcium leaching rate, low carbonation efficiency, and low product yield. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate ways to accelerate carbonation, optimize operating parameters, develop cost-effective agents, and understand the kinetics of CaCO3 nucleation and crystallization to obtain products with specific crystal forms. Distribution, burial fluxes and carbon sink effect of sedimentary organic carbon in the eastern China seas

The ocean is the largest active carbon reservoir on Earth. Organic carbon(OC), as the primary species of carbon sequestration in the ocean, plays an important role in the global carbon cycle through its deposition and burial. In this study,sedimentary OC data from 5796 stations, together with relevant geochemical and sedimentological parameters in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea, and East China Sea(BYES) were used to summarize and elucidate the distribution and burial patterns of sedimentary OC, and assess carbon sink effect of sedimentary OC burial. The results show that the OC content in the sediments of the BYES ranges from 0.00% to 2.1.%, with an average content of 0.47%±0.26%. OC content is significantly correlated with finegrained sediments, with an average OC content in mud areas being 39% higher than that in non-mud areas. Modern OC buried in the BYES are mainly deposited in 7 major mud areas, with a total sedimentary OC burial flux of approximately 8.20 Mt C yr^(–1..Among them, the burial flux of biospheric OC is 6.92 Mt C yr^(–1., equivalent to the OC consumption amount of silicate weathering of the 9 major river basins in the eastern China. In its natural state, the annually sequestered OC in the sediments of the eastern China seas is equivalent to 25.37 Mt of atmospheric CO_(2), indicating a significant carbon sink effect. The distribution and burial of terrigenous OC in the BYES are mainly influenced by the large river inputs and complex marine hydrodynamic environment,while human activities such as dam construction have significantly altered the OC burial in these coastal mud areas.

The advancement of integrated optical communication networks necessitates the deployment of on-chip beam splitters for efficient signal interconnections at network ***,the pursuit of micron-scale beam splitting with large corners and reducing the device footprint to boost connection flexibility often results in phase *** mismatches,which stem from radiation modes and backward scattering,pose significant obstacles in creating highly integrated and interference-resistant *** address this,we introduce a solution based on the topological valley-contrasting state generated by photonic crystals with opposing valley Chern numbers,manifested in a harpoon-shaped structure designed to steer the splitting *** approach enables adiabatic mode field evolution over large corners,capitalizing on the robust phase modulation capabilities and topological protection provided by the subwavelength-scale valley-contrasting *** demonstration reveals that beam splitters with large corners of 60°,90°,and 1.0°exhibit insertion loss fluctuations below 2.7 dB while maintaining a minimal footprint of 8.8μm×8.8μ*** a practical demonstration,these devices facilitate three-channel signal connections,successfully transmitting quadrature phase shift keying signals at 3.66 Tbit/s with bit error rates below the forward error correction threshold,demonstrating performance comparable to that in defects *** harnessing the unidirectional excitation feature,we anticipate significant enhancements in the capabilities of signal distribution and connection networks through a daisy chain configuration.

Pien Tze Huang(PZH),a class-1.nationally protected traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),has been used to treat liver diseases such as hepatitis;however,the effect of PZH on the progression of sepsis is ***,we reported that PZH attenuated lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced sepsis in mice and reduced LPS-induced production of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages by inhibiting the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)***,PZH stimulated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)phosphorylation to induce the expression of A20,which could inhibit the activation of NF-κB and MAPK *** of the bile acid(BA)receptor G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1.TGR5)in macrophages abolished the effects of PZH on STAT3 phosphorylation and A20 induction,as well as the LPS-induced inflammatory response,suggesting that BAs in PZH may mediate its anti-inflammatory effects by activating ***,deprivation of BAs in PZH by cholestyramine resin reduced the effects of PZH on the expression of phosphorylated-STAT3 and A20,the activation of NF-κB and MAPK signalling,and the production of proinflammatory cytokines,whereas the addition of BAs to cholestyramine resin-treated PZH partially restored the inhibitory effects on the production of proinflammatory ***,our study identifies BAs as the effective components in PZH that activate TGR5-STAT3-A20 signalling to ameliorate LPS-induced sepsis.
