Innovations and stepwise evolution of CBFs/DREB1s and their regulatory networks in angiosperms

The C-repeat binding factors/dehydrationresponsive element binding protein 1 s(CBFs/DREB1 s)have been identified as major regulators of cold acclimation in many angiosperm plants.However,their origin and evolutionary process associated to cold responsiveness are still lacking.By integrating multi-omics data of genomes,transcriptomes,and CBFs/DREB1 s genome-wide binding profiles,we unveil the origin and evolution of CBFs/DREB1 s and their regulatory network.Gene collinearity and phylogeny analyses show that CBF/DREB1 is an innovation evolved from tandem duplication-derived DREBⅢgene.A subsequent event of e-whole genome duplication led to two CBF/DREB1 archetypes(CladesⅠandⅡ)in ancient angiosperms.In contrast to cold-insensitivity of Clade I and their parent DREBⅢgenes,CladeⅡevolved a further innovation in cold-sensitive response and was stepwise expanded in eudicots and monocots by independent duplications.In geological time,the duplication events were mainly enriched around the Cretaceous-Paleogene(K-Pg)boundary and/or in the Late Cenozoic Ice Age,when the global average temperature significantly decreased.Consequently,the duplicated CBF/DREB1 genes contributed to the rewiring of CBFs/DREB1 s-regulatory network for cold tolerance.Altogether,our results highlight an origin and convergent evolution of CBFs/DREB1 s and their regulatory network probably for angiosperms adaptation to global cooling.

Summary What is already known about this topic?Hematological parameters may indicate the presence of chronic low-grade inflammation and increasing viscosity,which are involved in the pathological processes of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).However,the association between several hematological parameters in early pregnancy and GDM has yet to be elucidated.What is added by this report?Hematological parameters in the first trimester,particularly red blood cell(RBC)count and systematic immune index,have a significant impact on GDM incidence.The neutrophils(NEU)count in the first trimester was particularly pronounced for GDM.The upward trend of RBC,white blood cell(WBC),and NEU counts was consistent across all GDM subtypes.What are the implications for public health practice?Early pregnancy hematological parameters are associated with the risk of GDM.

Tea polyphenol-gut microbiota interactions:hints on improving the metabolic syndrome in a multi-element and multi-target manner

The metabolic syndrome(MS)has become one of the main problems in public health.Tea polyphenols(TPs),the main bioactive components of tea,has been claimed to have the potential to regulate metabolism and effectively prevent or mitigate the MS.However,many studies into the effects of TPs on MS have provided conflicting findings and the underlying mechanism has been elusive.The predominant TPs in unfermentedand and fermented tea are catechins and oxidized polyphenols(theaflavins and thearubigins),both of which have low bioavailability and reach the colon where most gut microbes inhabit.Gut microbiota has been demonstrated to be tightly associated with host metabolism.The interactions between TPs and gut microbiota will lead to the alterations of gut microbiota composition and the production of metabolites including short chain fatty acids,bile acids,amino acids and TPs derived metabolites,accordingly exerting their biological effects both locally and systemically.This review highlighted the contribution of metabolites and specific gut bacteria in the process of TPs intervention on the MS and further discuss how TPs impact the MS via gut microbiota from the viewpoint of gut organ/tissue axis.

Fabrication and evaluation of a portable and reproducible quartz crystal microbalance immunochip for label-free detection ofβ-lactoglobulin allergen in milk products

In this study,a label-free,portable and reproducible immunochip based on quartz crystal microbalance(QCM)was developed for the qualitative detection ofβ-lactoglobulin(β-LG),an allergen,in milk products.Experimental parameters in the fabrication and regeneration procedure such as pH of the coupling microenvironment,amount of anti-β-LG antibody and regeneration reagent were optimized in detail.Under optimal conditions,the proposed QCM immunochip exhibited good recognition of β-LG,with a calibration curve of ΔF=12.877 C_(β-LG)^(0.4809)(R^(2)=0.9982)and limit of detection of 0.04μg/mL.Additionally,this portable QCM immunochip had good stability,high specificity,and no obvious cross-reaction to three other milk proteins(α-casein,α-lactalbumin,and lactoferrin).It could compete a qualitative measurement within5 min,and could be reused at least ten times.In the β-LG analysis of actual milk samples,the developed QCM immunochip yielded reliable and accurate results,which correlated strongly with those from the standard HPLC method(R^(2)=0.9969).Thus,the portable,stable,and reproducible QCM immunochip developed in this study allowed the rapid,cost-effectively and sensitively measure theβ-LG in milk products.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a degenerative disease characterized by destruction and progressive expansion of the abdominal aortic wall. An AAA is typically defined as an enlargement of the abdominal aorta with diameter ≥3 cm or ≥50% greater than the suprarenal diameter. The pathological changes associated with AAA include inflammatory cell infiltration, extracellular matrix (ECM) destruction and remodeling, and vascular smooth muscle cell loss. The matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family of proteins plays an important role in initiation and progression of AAA. Since understanding the regulation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in AAA is essential for treatment of AAA, this review summarized the regulatory mechanisms of MMPs to provide a reference for exploring novel therapeutic approaches.

Recurrent infection triggered encephalopathy syndrome in a pediatric patient with RANBP2 mutation and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection

Introduction:Acute necrotizing encephalopathy(ANE),a fatal subtype of infection-triggered encephalopathy syndrome(ITES),can be triggered by many systemic infections.RANBP2 gene mutations were associated with recurrent ANE.Case presentation:Here we report a 1-year-old girl with recurrent ITES and RANBP2 mutation.She was diagnosed with influenza-associated encephalopathy and made a full recovery on the first episode.After severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection,the patient presented with seizures and deteriorating mental status.Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed necrotic lesions in bilateral thalami and pons.Methylprednisolone,immunoglobulin,and interleukin 6 inhibitors were administered.Her consciousness level was improved at discharge.Nineteen cases of 2019 coronavirus disease-related ANE have been reported,of which 22.2%of patients died and 61.1%had neurologic disabilities.RANBP2 gene mutation was found in five patients,two of whom developed recurrent ITES.Conclusion:Patients with RANBP2 mutations are at risk for recurrent ITES,may develop ANE,and have a poor prognosis after relapse.

为提高气体绝缘组合电器(Gas insulated switchgear,GIS)局部放电类型诊断的精度,提出了一种基于EWT-FE结合IHPO-SVM算法的GIS局部放电诊断方法。为深度挖掘局部放电信号内部特征,利用经验小波变换(Empirical wavelet transform,EWT)结合模糊熵(Fuzzy entropy,FE)算法对信号进行分解,并提取有效特征量;为提高支持向量机(Support vector machine,SVM)算法自适应能力与分类识别精度,提出利用经过余弦衰减计算方法以及指数下降函数改进的猎人猎物优化(Improved hunter-prey optimizer,IHPO)算法对SVM算法参数进行优化选取;搭建GIS局部放电试验模型,建立基于EWT-FE信号分析结合IHPO-SVM的局部放电识别模型,对所提算法有效性进行验证。试验结果表明,所提算法GIS局部放电类型诊断精度均大于95%,优于传统诊断算法。

A topology approach to overcome the pore size/volume trade-offs for autonomous indoor humidity control

Autonomous indoor humidity control is gaining more and more attention but is limited by the trade-offs among pore volume,pore size and water stability of water adsorbents. We solve this problem by using a unique coordination network topology combined with hydrolytically stable M（Ⅲ） carboxylate clusters. By extending the ligand length from 9.0 to 11.2 and 13.7?, the pore volume significantly increases from 0.99 to 1.40 and 1.78 cm3g–1, which proportionally increases the saturated water adsorption capacity. Meanwhile, the pore size slightly increases from 10.4 to 11.0 and 13.5?, which restricts the isotherm inflection pressure and hysteresis width to meet the requirement of indoor humidity control. Large single-crystals suitable for Xray diffraction studies were obtained by using Fe（Ⅲ） salts, while isostructural frameworks with sufficiently high water stabilities were synthesized by using Cr（Ⅲ） salts, which offer record working capacity of 0.90 and 1.10 g g–1for indoor humidity control.

Waste collection is an important part of waste management system.Transportation costs and carbon emissions can be greatly reduced by proper vehicle routing.Meanwhile,each vehicle can work again after achieving its capacity limit and unloading the waste.For this,an energy-efficient multi-trip vehicle routing model is established for municipal solid waste collection,which incorporates practical factors like the limited capacity,maximum working hours,and multiple trips of each vehicle.Considering both economy and environment,fixed costs,fuel costs,and carbon emission costs are minimized together.To solve the formulated model effectively,contribution-based adaptive particle swarm optimization is proposed.Four strategies named greedy learning,multi-operator learning,exploring learning,and exploiting learning are specifically designed with their own searching priorities.By assessing the contribution of each learning strategy during the process of evolution,an appropriate one is selected and assigned to each individual adaptively to improve the searching efficiency of the algorithm.Moreover,an improved local search operator is performed on the trips with the largest number of waste sites so that both the exploiting ability and the convergence accuracy of the algorithm are improved.Performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on ten waste collection instances,which include one real-world case derived from the Green Ring Company of Jiangbei New District,Nanjing,China,and nine synthetic instances with increasing scales generated from the commonly-used capacitated vehicle routing problem benchmark datasets.Comparisons with five state-of-the-art algorithms show that the proposed algorithm can obtain a solution with a higher accuracy for the constructed model.

针对结合星地观测与模型定量模拟消光性气溶胶光学特性及黑碳质量空间分布这一热点问题,利用TROPOMI卫星紫外波段观测数据与AERONET地基观测数据,基于“核-壳”假设下的米散射模型提出了一种准确量化黑碳气溶胶质量空间分布的模拟方法,并对北京、中国香港、首尔三个站点的模拟结果进行分析与验证。多源数据约束后米散射模型模拟得到的结果显示:北京的吸收系数在0.04~0.13之间,中国香港的吸收系数整体小于0.08,首尔的吸收系数介于0.02~0.06之间。计算得到的黑碳气溶胶柱内质量空间分布结果显示:北京站黑碳气溶胶柱内质量在200~600 kg/grid之间,中国香港站黑碳气溶胶柱内质量在180~650 kg/grid之间,首尔站黑碳气溶胶柱内质量在300 kg/grid以下。结合卡尔曼滤波排放清单与一阶箱模型对黑碳气溶胶柱内质量结果进行间接验证,计算得到的黑碳气溶胶生命周期为1~4 d不等,符合其在大气中的真实状态,说明结果具有一定可靠性。通过对比加入TROPOMI紫外波段卫星观测数据前后对模型进行约束得到的粒径分布及吸收系数结果的差异发现:加入紫外波段观测数据对模拟结果具有一定增强作用。所提方法模拟结果良好,方案具有一定应用潜力。
