Constructing Versatile Hydrophilic Surfaces via in-situ Aminolysis

Surface hydrophilization is required for numbers of applications such as biosensor,biomedical implants and marine ***,the preparation of hydrophilic surface from a solid substrate still suffers from limited thicknesses,complex procedures,restricted substrates and harsh ***,a method based on in-situ aminolysis of poly(pentafluorophenyl acrylate)(pPFPA)capable of generating arbitrary hydrophilic surface is proposed,enabling high design freedom and abundant choices of hydrophilic *** immersing pPFPA coated substrates into 3-((3-aminopropyl)dimethylammonio)propane-1-sulfonate(ADPS),β-alanine and amine-terminal poly(ethylene glycol)(NH2-PEG)solutions for two hours drastically reduces the water contact angle of the corresponding surfaces,indicating the high efficiency and excellent generality of such *** studies reveal that these coatings are able to mitigate fog formation,self-clean the oil contaminant and exhibit excellent antifouling performance against ***,relying on the fast and quantitative feature of the aminolysis,these hydrophilic surfaces possess excellent regeneration capability and well-recover their hydrophilic feature after being physically *** work represents a facile and universal way to fabricate versatile hydrophilic surfaces for multi-functional applications such as self-cleaning,patterning,sensing,antifogging and anti-biofouling.

Antimony selenide(Sb_(2)Se_(3))is a promising candidate for photodetector applications boasting unique material benefits and remarkable optoelectronic *** high-performance self-powered Sb_(2)Se_(3)photodetector through a synergistic regulation of absorber layer and heterojunction interface demonstrates great potential and needs essential *** this study,an effective two-step thermodynamic/kinetic deposition technique containing sputtered and selenized Sb precursor is implemented to induce self-assembled growth of Sb_(2)Se_(3)light absorbing thin film with large crystal grains and desirable[hk1]orientation,presenting considerable thin-film photodetector ***,aluminum(Al^(3+))cation dopant is introduced to modify the optoelectronic properties of CdS buffer layer,and further optimize the Sb_(2)Se_(3)/CdS(Al)heterojunction interface *** to the suppressed carrier recombination and enhanced carrier transport kinetics,the champion Mo/Sb_(2)Se_(3)/CdS(Al)/ITO/Ag photodetector exhibits self-powered and broadband characteristics,accompanied by simultaneously high responsivity of 0.9 A W^(-1)(at 11 nW cm^(-2)),linear dynamic range of 120 dB,impressive ON/OFF switching ratio over 10^(6)and signal-to-noise ratio of 10^(9),record total noise determined realistic detectivity of 4.78×10^(12)Jones,and ultra-fast response speed with rise/decay time of 24/75 ns,representing the top level for Sb_(2)Se_(3)-based *** intriguing work opens up an avenue for its selfpowered broadband photodetector applications.

Crayfish Shell Waste as Safe Biosorbent for Removal of Cu^(2+)and Pb^(2+)from Synthetic Wastewater

Crayfish shell is an abundant natural waste and is also a potential biosorbent for pollutants,especially,heavy *** this study,the safety of the use of crayfish shell as a biosorbent was first assessed by release experiments involving primary heavy metal ions,such as Cu^(2+),Zn^(2+),and Cr^(3+),in aqueous solution under different environmental *** release concentrations of heavy metals were dependent on pH,ionic strength,and humic acid;and the maximum release concentrations of heavy metals were still lower than the national ***,Cu^(2+) and Pb^(2+) removal by crayfish shell in synthetic wastewater was *** removal process involved biosorption,precipitation,and complexation,and the results indicate that crayfish shell is an excellent biosorbent for Cu^(2+) and Pb^(2+) *** precipitation step is particularly dependent on Ca species,pH,and *** maximum removal capacities of Pb^(2+) and Cu^(2+) were 676.20 and 119.98 mg/g,*** related precipitates and the generated complex products include Cu_(2)CO_(3)(OH)_(2),Ca_(2)CuO_(3),CuCO_(3),Pb_(2)CO_(3)(OH)_(2),CaPb_(3)O_(4),and PbCO_(3).

An example of iron-catalyzed cross-electrophile couplingof inert C-O bonds with alkyl bromides via aniron/B_(2)pin_(2) catalytic system has been *** and heteroaryl carbamates can smoothly undergothis transformation under mild conditions, deliveringthe alkylated products with good *** protocol exhibits good functional group compatibilityand enables the late-stage functionalizationof biorelevant compounds, thus providingexcellent opportunities for applications in medicinalchemistry. Control experiments and computationalstudies reveal that a high spin Fe(I/II/III) catalyticmechanism might be involved in this reactionthrough single electron transfer to activate alkylbromides, oxidative addition of aryl carbamates, andreductive elimination to form Csp^(2)-Csp^(3) bonds.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by periodontopathic bacteria that affects periodontal support tissues.1 If left untreated,it results in loss of periodontal attachment and alveolar bone *** one-half of adults in the United States older than 30 years have periodontal disease.2 Though the disease is initiated by bacterial infection,it activates host defense systems that eventually lead to the degradation of the *** periodontitis,the disease progress involves further production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as cytokines,proteolytic enzymes like matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs),and their inhibitors.

Tens of billion metric tons of anthropogenic CO_2 discharged from the burning of fossil fuels lead to an enormous environmental and resource burden. It is charming to transform CO_2 to desirable, economical chemicals and materials. Poly（propylene carbonate）（PPC） is an emerging CO_2-based material. Herein, we report the design, synthesis and characterization of the reactive hot melt polyurethane adhesive（RHMPA） based on PPC polyol. The resultant RHMPAs exhibit good adhesion properties to multiple substrates including plastics（PC, PMMA, ABS） and metals（aluminium, steel）, which is comparable to or even better than conventional RHMPAs prepared from petro-based polyol. Furthermore, the PPC-based RHMPAs have tunable mechanical properties, and are thermally stable in the typical working range of bonding process（up to 270 °C）. The study is expected to expand the applications of PPC and provide a new type of CO_2-based renewable and eco-friendly materials.

3D DSMC Simulation of Rarefied Gas Flows around a Space Crew Capsule Using OpenFOAM

An open source Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code, called as dsmcFoam in OpenFOAM, is used to study a blunt body with the shape of a space crew capsule return vehicle. The rarefied gas has the Knudsen number with 0.03. The flow with a Mach number 4.35 over the capsule was simulated by DSMC. The distributions of velocity field and temperature around the capsule were calculated. This study may provide some useful information for the reentry of the return vehicle.

Whether budget devoted to law enforcement effectively prevents crime has been at the centre of debates for a long time,but primarily in *** this paper,I seek to inspect the relationship between judicial inputs and crime reduction based on China provincial panel from 1989 to *** judicial authority turns out to be ineffective in performing its duty when instrumental variable method *** the research reveals little evidence that ideological indoctrination relevant inputs have significant influence on China’s crime ***, some other socioeconomic factors such as social welfare expenditures,education level and urbanization,play significant roles in this *** findings suggest transitional governments should rethink the financing given to judicial system and shift their attention to some more cost-effective means.
