Modified Multifidelity Surrogate Model Based on Radial Basis Function with Adaptive Scale Factor

Multifidelity surrogates(MFSs) replace computationally intensive models by synergistically combining information from different fidelity data with a significant improvement in modeling efficiency. In this paper, a modified MFS(MMFS) model based on a radial basis function(RBF) is proposed, in which two fidelities of information can be analyzed by adaptively obtaining the scale factor. In the MMFS, an RBF was employed to establish the low-fidelity model.The correlation matrix of the high-fidelity samples and corresponding low-fidelity responses were integrated into an expansion matrix to determine the scaling function parameters. The shape parameters of the basis function were optimized by minimizing the leave-one-out cross-validation error of the high-fidelity sample points. The performance of the MMFS was compared with those of other MFS models(MFS-RBF and cooperative RBF) and single-fidelity RBF using four benchmark test functions, by which the impacts of different high-fidelity sample sizes on the prediction accuracy were also analyzed. The sensitivity of the MMFS model to the randomness of the design of experiments(DoE) was investigated by repeating sampling plans with 20 different DoEs. Stress analysis of the steel plate is presented to highlight the prediction ability of the proposed MMFS model. This research proposes a new multifidelity modeling method that can fully use two fidelity sample sets, rapidly calculate model parameters, and exhibit good prediction accuracy and robustness.

In deep underground engineering,rock burst and other dynamic disasters are prone to occur due to stress concentration and energy accumulation in surrounding rock.The control of dynamic disasters requires bolts and cables with high strength,high elongation,and high energy-absorbing capacity.Therefore,a constant resistance energy-absorbing(CREA)material is developed.In this study,the dynamic characteristics of the new material are obtained via the drop hammer tests and the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB)tests of the new material and two common bolt(CB)materials widely used in the field.The test results of drop hammer test and SHPB test show that the percentage elongation of CREA material is more than 2.64 and 3.22 times those of the CB material,and the total impact energy acting on CREA material is more than 18.50 and 21.84 times,respectively,indicating that the new material has high elongation and high energy-absorbing capacity.Subsequently,the CREA bolts and cables using the new material are developed,which are applied in roadways with high stress and strong dynamic disturbance.The field monitoring results show that CREA bolts and cables can effectively control the surrounding rock deformation and ensure engineering safety.

Dynamic DNA nanodevices have gained tremendous attention due to their extraordinary inherent functionality and advantages,however,dynamic DNA nanodevices-based biosensors are still challenging due to their high reliance on proteases and limited amplification capabilities.Herein,exploiting bispecific aptamer as initiators for the first time,we developed a three-dimensional(3D)DNA nanomotor biosensor powered by DNAzyme and entropy-driven circuit for sensitive and specific detection of lysozyme,in which walking and rolling strategies are efficiently integrated to achieve excellent signal amplification capability.Benefiting from the high selectivity of bispecific aptamer,the 3D DNA nanomotor biosensor can respond to lysozyme with high specificity and operate at high speed to release signals.The whole process is independent of protease,avoiding the influence of adverse environment on the operation stability.Under optimal conditions,it can achieve a limit of detection as low as 0.01 pg/mL with an excellent linear range of 0.05 pg/mL–500 ng/mL for lysozyme.Furthermore,the proposed strategy revealed high accuracy in the analysis of real samples,indicating a great potential for the application of nanomotor biosensors to the detection of non-nucleic acid targets.

In the environment of heterogeneous wireless networks, it is vital to select a currently optimal network for applications and subscribers. The use of multiple attribute decision making （MADM） for heterogeneous network selection can provide subscribers with satisfactory service quality. Converting heterogeneous network selection into a MADM problem, the authors present an improved algorithm for MADM based on group decision theory. The algorithm combines weight vectors of multiple attribute decision making to obtain a combinational weight vector. Then the results＇ compatibility will be assessed. If they do not meet the requirements of compatibility, the judgment matrix will be modified until a comprehensive vector that satisfies compatibility requirements is produced. The vector is combined with simple weighting method （SAW） for network selection. Simulation shows that the algorithm can provide users with satisfactory quality of service （QoS）.

To the Editor:Downstaging therapy has been confirmed to help patients whose tumors are beyond the liver transplantation (LT) criteria to gain the opportunity for LT with long-term survival.Zhan et al.[1] recently demonstrated that patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) beyond the Hangzhou criteria on initial diagnosis without extra hepatic metastasis or vascular invasion have comparative outcomes with those matching Milan criteria after LT if these patients are successfully downstaged to the Hangzhou criteria[1].However,whether the downstaging therapy prolongs the survival time of those with portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) is not clear.Our study was to add some data in this field.

In vivo degradation predication faces a huge challenge via in vitro corrosion test due to the difficulty for mimicking the complicated microenvironment with various influencing factors.A thin electrolyte layer(TEL)cell for in vitro corrosion of pure magnesium and AZ91 alloy was presented to stimulate the in vivo corrosion in the micro-environment built by the interface of the implant and its neighboring tissue.The results demonstrated that the in vivo corrosion of pure Mg and the AZ91 alloy was suppressed under TEL condition.The AZ91 alloy was more sensitive than pure Mg to the inhibition of corrosion under a TEL thickness of less than 200 mm.The TEL thickness limited the distribution of current,and thus localized corrosion was more preferred to occur under TEL condition than in bulk solution.The TEL cell might be an appropriate approach to simulating the in vivo degradation of magnesium and its alloys.

The hydrodynamic shape of the heaving buoy is an important factor of the motion response in waves and thus concerns the energy conversion efficiency for the point absorbers(PAs).The current experience-based designs are time consuming and not very efficient,hence,faster and smarter methods are desirable.An automated optimization method based on a fully parametric modeling method and computational fluid dynamics(CFD),is proposed in this paper.Using this method,a benchmark buoy is screen designed and then optimized by maximizing the heave motion response.The geometry is described parametrically and deformed by means of the free-form deformation(FFD)method.During the optimization process,the expansion factor of control points is the basis for the variations.A combination of the Sobol and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II(NSGA-II)is used to search for the solutions.After several iterations,the heaving buoy shape with optimal heave motion response is obtained.The analyses show that the heave motion response has increased 55.3%after optimization.The developed methodology is valid and seems to be a promising way to design a novel buoy that can significantly improve the wave energy conversion efficiency of the PAs in future.

Age, Growth and Maturation of Largehead Hairtail (Trichiurus japonicus) in the East China Sea

Largehead hairtail(Trichiurus japonicus)is a commercially important fish species in China Seas,characterized by wide distribution,seasonal migration,spawning all year round.Under long-term high fishing pressure,the biological traits of largehead hair-tail have changed,such as miniaturization,smaller size-at-age and earlier age-at-maturation.To explore its current biological charac-ters,we analyzed age,growth and maturation of largehead hairtail in the East China Sea by analyzing the otolith microstructure and gonads.The results showed that largehead hairtail is mainly composed of 1 year and 2 years old individuals.The estimated von Ber-talanffy growth function(VBGF)showed significant differences between sexes,and asymptotic pre-anal length of male is longer than that of female.Two spawning seasons were observed in spring and autumn by monthly gonadosomatic index(GSI).Compared to historic survey data,the average pre-anal length at age decreased and size-at-maturation became smaller in the East China Sea.This study updates life history parameters of largehead hairtail,and provides a reference for the present status of largehead hairtail,which can contribute to largehead haritail stock assessment and sustainable utilization in the China Seas.

interaction pipelines while maintaining interfaces for task-specific customization.The Structural-BT framework supports the modular design of structure functionalities and allows easy extensibility of the inner planning flows between BT components.With the Structural-BT framework,software engineers can develop robotic software by flexibly composing BT structures to formulate the skeleton software architecture and implement task-specific algorithms when necessary.In the experiment,this paper develops robotic software for diverse task scenarios and selects the baseline approaches of Robot Operating System(ROS)and classical BT development frameworks for comparison.By quantitatively measuring the reuse frequencies and ratios of BT structures,the Structural-BT framework has been shown to be more efficient than the baseline approaches for robotic software development.
