Phylogenetic analysis and biological characteristic tests of marine bacteria isolated from Southern Ocean(Indian sector)water

Fifty-seven bacteria were isolated from Southern Ocean （Indian sector） water samples which were collected from different latitude and longitude of the ocean. All the isolates were able to grow at 4℃, 20℃, 37℃ and tolerable NacI concentration up to 13.5% （w/v）. 29 out of 57 isolates were identified using 16S rDNA amplification and the sequences were submitted to National center for Biotechnology Information （NcBI）. All the isolates were classified by using Ribosomal Database Project （RDP） and found that isolates belongs to Proteobacteria and Bacteriodes. The average G＋c content was 56.4%. The isolates were screened for the presence of extracellular enzymes, viz. amylase, catalase, urease, esterase, lipase and protease. The disc diffusion method is used to screen antibiotic production by the isolates against four pathogenic bacteria, viz. Salmonella typhimurium （NcIm 2501）, Staphylococcus aureus （NcIm 2122）, Bacillus subtilis （NcIm 2193）, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa （NcIm 2036）. Nine out of 29 were found to be antibiotic producer.

White organic light-emitting diodes(WOLEDs)have several desirable features,but their commercialization is hindered by the poor stability of blue light emitters and high production costs due to complicated device ***,we investigate a standard blue emitting hole transporting material(HTm)N,N'-bis(naphthalen-1-yl)-N,N'-bis(phenyl)benzidine(NPB)and its exciplex emission upon combining with a suitable electron transporting material(ETm),3-(biphenyl-4-yl)-5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-4-phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole(TAZ).Blue and yellow OLEDs with simple device structures are developed by using a blend layer,NPB:TAZ,as a blue emitter as well as a host for yellow phosphorescent dopant iridium(III)bis(4-phenylthieno[3,2-c]pyridinato-N,c2')acetylacetonate(PO-01).Strategic device design then exploits the ambipolar charge transport properties of tetracene as a spacer layer to connect these blue and yellow emitting *** tetracene-linked device demonstrates more promising results compared to those using a conventional charge generation layer(cGL).Judicious choice of the spacer prevents exciton difusion from the blue emitter unit,yet facilitates charge carrier transport to the yellow emitter unit to enable additional exciplex *** complementary behavior of the spacer improves the blue emission properties concomitantly yielding reasonable yellow *** overall white light emission properties are enhanced,achieving cIE coordinates(0.36,0.39)and color temperature(4643 K)similar to *** intermolecular exciplex emission in OLEDs simplifes the device architecture via its dual functionality as a host and as an emitter.

cancer chemoprevention, a desirable and important facet of biomedical research, Provides a practical approach to identify potentially useful inhibitors of cancer development, and offers an opportunity to study the mechanism of carcinogenesis. During the recent past a nuInber of compounds have been tested for their anticarcinogenic potential specially constituents of human diet. The enzyme y-glutamyl transpeptidase (cGT), which catalyses the transfer of glutamyl gnups of peptides to other peptides and amino acids, has been proposed as a marker of cell proliferation and neoplasia. It also serves as a tool to evaluate the carcinogenic and cocareinogenic poential of environmental toxicants. In the present investigations, GGT activity induced by carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, viz. 7, 12-dimethyl-benz(a) anthracene (DmBA) and benzo(a)Pyrene (BaP was significantly inhibited by diallylsulfide (DAS) and indole-3-carbinol (13c) in mouse skin. DAS and 13c are constituents of garlic. A significant inhibition in GGT levels was also observed in a strong mitogen (12-o-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acelate) induced activity by pretreatment of DAS/13c in mouse skin. Therefore these dielary constituents seem to be strong modifiers of chemically induced carcinogenesis.

Prostate cancer begins as an androgen-responsive disease. However, subsequent accumulation of multiple sequential genetic and epigenetic alterations transforms the disease into an aggressive, castration-resistant prostate cancer (cRPc). The monoallelic Androgen Receptor (AR) is associated with the onset, growth and development of Prostate cancer. The AR is a ligand-dependent transcription factor, and the targeting of androgen- and AR-signaling axis remains the primary therapeutic option for Prostate cancer (Pca) treatment. A durable and functional disruption of AR signaling pathways combining both traditional and novel therapeutics is likely to provide better treatment options for cRPc. Recent work has indicated that expression of AR is modulated at the posttranscriptional level by regulatory miRNAs. Due to a relatively long 3’ untranslated region (UTR) of AR mRNA, the posttranscription expression is likely to be regulated by hundreds of miRNAs in normal as well as in disease state. The main objective of the article is to offer a thought-provoking concept of “andro-miRs” and their potential application in AR gene expression targeting. This new paradigm for targeting constitutively active AR and its tumor specific splicing isoforms using andro-miRs may pave the way for a novel adjunctive therapy and improved treatment of cRPc.

An integrated theoretical and experimental investigation of insensitive munition compounds adsorption on cellulose,cellulose triacetate, chitin and chitosan surfaces

This manuscript reports results of combined computational chemistry and batch adsorption investigation of insensitive munition compounds, 2,4-dinitroanisole（DNAN）, triaminotrinitrobenzene（TATB）, 1,1-diamino-2,2-dinitroethene（FOX-7） and nitroguanidine（NQ）, and traditional munition compound 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene（TNT） on the surfaces of cellulose, cellulose triacetate, chitin and chitosan biopolymers. cellulose,cellulose triacetate, chitin and chitosan were modeled as trimeric form of the linear chain of4 c1 chair conformation of β-D-glucopyranos, its triacetate form, β-N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucosamine, respectively, in the 1 ？ 4 linkage. Geometries were optimized at the m062 X functional level of the density functional theory（DFT） using the 6-31 G（d,p） basis set in the gas phase and in the bulk water solution using the conductor-like polarizable continuum model（cPcm） approach. The nature of potential energy surfaces of the optimized geometries were ascertained through the harmonic vibrational frequency analysis. The basis set superposition error（BSSE） corrected interaction energies were obtained using the 6-311 G（d,p）basis set at the same theoretical level. The computed BSSE in the gas phase was used to correct interaction energy in the bulk water solution. computed and experimental results regarding the ability of considered surfaces in adsorbing the insensitive munitions compounds are discussed.

ccR5A32 mutation does not influence the susceptibility to HcV infection, severity of liver disease and response to therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis c

AIm： To study whether ccR5△32 mutation was associated with viral infection and severity of liver disease. mETHODS： Two hundred and fifty two histologically proven, chronic HcV patients （mean age： 41±14 years; m/F： 164/88） were genotyped. PcR based genotyping of 32 bp deletion at the ccR5 locus was done. Fourhundred and eight matched healthy controls were studied to assess susceptibility to HcV infection. To assess correlation of immune gene polymorphism with severity of HcV related liver disease, patients with chronic HcV infection were divided into those with a fibrosis score of ≤ 2 （mild） or 〉 2 （severe） and histological activity index （HAI） of ≤ 5 or 〉 5. For correlation between ccR5△32 mutations and response to therapy, 129 patients who completed therapy were evaluated. RESULTS： The majority （89.4%） of the patients were infected with genotype 3. The frequency of homozygous ccR5△32 mutants was comparable to HcV patients as compared to the healthy controls （0.7% vs 0%, P = 0.1）. Further more, the frequency of ccR5△32 mutation was comparable in patients with mild or severe liver disease.（P = NS）. There was also no association observed with response to therapy and ccR5△32 mutation. cONcLUSION： ccR5△32 mutation does not have a role in disease susceptibility, severity or response to therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis c infection.

The oxidation behaviour of 10%, 30%, and 50% cold rolled and unprocessed 9cr 1mo ferritic steels in air have been studied under isothermal conditions at a temperature of 900°c in a cyclic manner. Oxidation kinetics was established for all samples on which experiment was conducted in air at 900°c under cyclic conditions for 50 cycles by thermogravimetric technique. Each cycle consisted of 1 hour heating at 900°c followed by 20 min of cooling in air. 10% cold rolled sample followed parabolic rate of oxidation while 30% cold rolled sample showed accelerated rate of weight gain. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray (SEm/EDAX) techniques were used to characterise the oxidized sample and their scales. 10% cold rolled steel was found to be more corrosion resistance than other in air oxidation for 50 cycles.

The aim of present research is to study the dispersion of air pollutants using the air quality model, AERmOD and to predict the impact of pollutants (Pm10, NO2 and cO) at the receptor level released from Gas Based Power Plant (GBPP). The net-concentrations including monitored data plus predicted values of Pm10, NO2 and cO would be increased from base value 75 to 77.61 μg/m3 with an increase of 3.48%, 22 to 26.66 μg/m3 with an increase of 21.18% and 428 to 538.37 μg/m3 with an increase of 25.79% respectively. The study of hill effect showed that it had profound impact upon the dispersion of pollutants and the ratio (with hill and without hill) of each pollutant was 3.89 for Pm10 (24 hr), 2.40 for NO2 (24 hr) and 13.98 for cO (1 hr). The natural gas based plant not only decreases the pollution level but also reduces the hospital treatment cost and protects the public health. The modeling results suggest that the GBPP could be a clean technology as replacement of coal power plants located in the city which pollute the environment considerably in spite of control measures installed.
