Influence rule of downtime on heat transfer in converters

The models for calculating the heat transfer in converters allow the accurate control of heat dissipation caused by downtime,and thus help in crease scrap ratio and reduce energy consumptio *** 17 was used to establish such a model to analyse the coupling law between the downtime and heat dissipation of the converter and the temperature drop of molten *** was measured by infrared detection,and model accuracy was verified by comparative *** variation law of the amount of cold charge added for different downtimes under different process conditions was *** results show that the range of the variation of heat dissipation caused by downtime is 8.9-78.5 *** the downtime increases by 30 min,heat dissipation of dephosphorisation(deP)and decarburisation(deC)converters increases by about 23.4 and 41.3 GJ,*** a certain smelting cycle,the temperature drop of the molten iron for deP,deC and conventional converters increases by about 12.5,15.0 and 17.0 K,respectively;and the amount of scrap added in the double-linking and conventional smelting processes decreases by 0.93 and 0.75%,respectively.

The Unsteady Vortex Lattice Method(UVLM) is a medium-fidelity aerodynamic tool that has been widely used in aeroelasticity and flight dynamics simulations. The most timeconsuming step is the evaluation of the induced velocity. Supposing that the number of bound and wake lattices is N and the computational cost is O (N2), we present an OeNT Dipole Panel Fast Multipole Method(DPFMM) for the rapid evaluation of the induced velocity in UVLM. The multipole expansion coefficients of a quadrilateral dipole panel have been derived in spherical coordinates, whose accuracy is the same as that of the Biot-Savart kernel at the same truncation degree *** methods(the loosening method and the shrinking method) are proposed and tested for space partitioning volumetric panels. Compared with FMM for vortex filaments(with three harmonics),DPFMM is approximately two times faster for N2 [103,106]. The simulation time of a multirotor(N~104) is reduced from 100 min(with unaccelerated direct solver) to 2 min(with DPFMM).

Extracting copper from copper oxide ore by a zwitterionic reagent and dissolution kinetics

Sulfamic acid （SA）, which possesses a zwitterionic structure, was applied as a leaching reagent for the first time for extracting copper from copper oxide ore. The effects of reaction time, temperature, particle size, reagent concentration, and stirring speed on this leach- ing were studied. The dissolution kinetics of malachite was illustrated with a three-dimensional diffusion model. A novel leaching effect of SA on malachite was eventually demonstrated. The leaching rate increased with decreasing particle size and increasing concentration, reac- tion temperature and stirring speed. The activation energy for SA leaching malachite was 33.23 kJ/mol. Furthermore, the effectiveness of SA as a new reagent for extracting copper from copper oxide ore was confirmed by experiment. This approach may provide a solution suitable for subsequent electrowinning. In addition, results reported herein may provide basic data that enable the leaching of other carbonate miner- als of copper, zinc, cobalt and so on in an SA system.

A solvent annealing-induced structural reengineering approach is exploited to fabricate polymersomes from block copolymers that are hard to form vesicles through the traditional solution self-assembly *** specifically,polystyrene-b-poly(4-vinyl pyridine)(PS-b-P4VP)particles with sphere-within-sphere structure(SS particles)are prepared by three-dimensional(3D)soft-confined assembly through emulsion-solvent evaporation,followed by 3D soft-confined solvent annealing upon the SS particles in aqueous dispersions for structural engineering.A water-miscible solvent(e.g.,THF)is employed for annealing,which results in dramatic transitions of the assemblies,e.g.,from SS particles to *** approach works for PS-b-P4VP in a wide range of block ***,this method enables effective encapsulation/loading of cargoes such as fluorescent dyes and metal nanoparticles,which offers a new route to prepare polymersomes that could be applied for cargo release,diagnostic imaging,and nanoreactor,etc.

Contact-killing antimicrobial coatings based on host defense peptides(HDPs) and their synthetic mimics have shown potential as powerful tools to combat implant-associated infections. Covalent modification of the antimicrobial surface has been utilized to prevent early-stage microbial infections owing to the less drug-leaching possibility that is beneficial to human health and the natural environment. Although considerable progress has been achieved in preparing contact-killing antimicrobial surfaces, discussions focusing on the in vitro and in vivo evaluations of these surfaces are limited. In this review, we summarized the established in vitro methods to simulate the practical interaction of microbes with the surrounding biological environment and the reported in vivo studies at different implant sites. We suggested that the in vivo specific site infection model is essential to gain a comprehensive understanding of these antimicrobial coatings in the preclinical stage, which can be established based on investigations performed using various in vitro assays and conventional non-specific site infection models. Overall, these precedent studies focusing on bacterial contact-killing coatings modified with HDPs and HDP mimics can be considered as critical to assess the surface antibacterial ability and to guide the future developments and applications of antimicrobial surfaces.

As a huge reserve for potential energy, natural gas hydrates(NGHs) are attracting increasingly extra attentions, and a series of researches on gas recovery from NGHs sediments have been carried out. But the slow formation and dissociation kinetics of NGHs is a major bottleneck in the applications of NGHs technology. Previous studies have shown that nanobubbles, which formed from melt hydrates, have significant promotion effects on dissociation and reformation dynamics of gas hydrates. Nanobubbles can persist for a long time in liquids, disaccording with the standpoint of classical thermodynamic theories, thus they can participate in the hydrate process. Based on different types of hydrate systems(gas + water, gas +water +inhibitors/promoters, gas + water + hydrophilic/hydrophobic surface), the effects of nanobubble evolution on nucleation, dissociation, reformation process and "memory effect" of gas hydrates are discussed in this paper. Researches on the nanobubbles in hydrate process are also summarized and prospected in this study.

Preparation of sulphonate-containing core/shell latex particles via seeded emulsion copolymerization

In this study, P（St-MAA） seed latex particles were first prepared via soap-free emulsion polymerization of styrene （St） and methacrylic acid （MAA）, then the seed particles were allowed to swell with St at room temperature, and the P（St-MAA）/P（St- NaSS） core/shell latex particles were then synthesized via seeded emulsion copolymerization of St and sodium styrene sulphonate （NaSS） using AIBN as initiator in the presence of N,N^-methylenebisacrylamide （BAA, water-soluble crosslinker）. Results showed that the polymerization could be carried out smoothly when the ratio of BAA to total monomers was less than 3 mol%, the narrow dispersed P（St-MAA） seed particles with the diameter of 150 nm and the P（St-MAA）/P（St-NaSS） core/shell latexes with the particle size of about 200 nm were synthesized. When the 25/75 mole ratio of NaSS/（St ＋ MAA） and 2 tool% of BAA were used in the seeded emulsion polymerization, the resulted P（St-MAA）/P（St-NaSS） latex product showed a low weight loss after water extraction, and the NaSS unit content in the whole particle and in the shell reached 11.7 mol% and 34.6 mol%, resoectivelv.

Zn release from fluid inclusions in a natural sphalerite

The type, size, and compositions of fluid inclusions in a natural sphalerite were investigated and the total concentration of Zn released from the fluid inclusions was measured. To compare the total concentration of Zn released from the fluid inclusions with that dissolved from the sphalerite itself, dissolution experiments and theoretical calculations for the dissolution equilibrium of the sphalerite were also performed. The results indicate that large numbers of fluid inclusions with various sizes exist in the sphalerite, which can be divided into four types, i.e., pure gaseous inclusions, pure liquid inclusions, gas-liquid inclusions, and gas-liquid inclusions containing solid minerals. These inclusions were broken open during the grinding process, and their compositions were released to the solution. The total concentration of Zn released from these inclusions reaches 18.35×10^-6 mol/L, which is much higher than that of Zn dissolved from the sphalerite itself （1.93×10^-6 mol/L） and the theoretical calculation value （2.73×10^-8 mol/L）.
