Selective conversion of fructose to 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO)is considered as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to petroleum-based processes,however,this approach still faces challenges associated with low efficiency and harsh reaction ***,we have successfully synthesized a novel bifunctional Ru-WO_(x)-MgO_(y) catalyst through a facile'one-pot'solvothermal ***,this catalyst exhibits exceptional catalytic performances in the conversion of fructose to 1,2-PDO under mild reaction *** yield of 1,2-PDO is up to 56.2%at 140°C for 4 h under an ultra-low hydrogen pressure of only 0.2 MPa,surpassing the reported results in recent literature(below 51%).Comprehensive characterizations and density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the presence of oxygen vacancies in the Ru-WO_(x)-MgO_(y) catalyst,serving as active acidic sites,facilitates the chemoselective cleavage of C-C bonds in fructose,which leads to the generation of active intermediates and ultimately resulted in the high yield of 1,2-PDO.

Evaluating the physical mechanisms that link hydraulic fracturing(HF) operations to induced earthquakes and the anticipated form of the resulting events is significant in informing subsurface fluid injection operations. Current understanding supports the overriding role of the effective stress magnitude in triggering earthquakes, while the impact of change rate of effective stress has not been systematically addressed. In this work, a modified critical stiffness was brought up to investigate the likelihood, impact,and mitigation of induced seismicity during and after hydraulic fracturing by developing a poroelastic model based on rate-and-state fraction law and linear stability analysis. In the new criterion, the change rate of effective stress was considered a key variable to explore the evolution of this criterion and hence the likelihood of instability slip of fault. A coupled fluid flow-deformation model was used to represent the entire hydraulic fracturing process in COMSOL Multiphysics. The possibility of triggering an earthquake throughout the entire hydraulic fracturing process, from fracturing to cessation, was investigated considering different fault locations, orientations, and positions along the fault. The competition between the effects of the magnitude and change rate of effective stress was notable at each fracturing stage. The effective stress magnitude is a significant controlling factor during fracturing events, with the change rate dominating when fracturing is suddenly started or stopped. Instability dominates when the magnitude of the effective stress increases(constant injection at each fracturing stage) and the change rate of effective stress decreases(the injection process is suddenly stopped). Fracturing with a high injection rate, a fault adjacent to the hydraulic fracturing location and the position of the junction between the reservoir and fault are important to reduce the Coulomb failure stress(CFS) and enhance the critical stiffness as

Arsenic(As)speciation transformation in acid mine drainage(AMD)is comprehensively affected by biological and abiotic factors,such as microbially mediated Fe/S redox reactions and changes in environmental conditions(pH and oxidation-reduction potential).However,their combined impacts on arsenic speciation transformation remain poorly ***,we explored arsenic transformation and immobilization during pyrite dissolution mediated by AMD enrichment culture under different acidic pH *** results for incubation and mineralogical transformation of solid residues show that in the presence of AMD enrichment culture,pH 2.0,2.5,and 3.0 are more conducive to the formation of jarosites and ferric arsenate,which could immobilize high quantities of dissolved arsenic by adsorption and *** pH conditions significantly affect the initial adsorption of microbial cells to the minerals and the evolution of microbial community structure,further infuencing the biodissolution of pyrite and the release and oxidation process of Fe/*** results of Fe/S/As speciation transformation of the solid residues show that the transformation of Fe,S,and As in solution is mainly regulated by pH and potential values,which imposed significantly different effects on the formation of secondary minerals and thus arsenic oxidation and *** above results indicated that arsenic transformation is closely related to the Fe/S oxidation associated with pyrite bio-oxidation,and this correlation is critically regulated by the pH conditions of the system.

We systemically investigate optical trapping capability of a kind of tornado waves on Rayleigh *** tornado waves are named as tornado circular Pearcey beams(TCPBs)and produced by combining two circular Pearcey beams with different *** theoretical exploration delves into various aspects,including the propagation dynamics,energy flux,orbital angular momentum,trapping force,and torque characteristics of *** results reveal that the orbital angular momentum,trapping force,and torque of these beams can be finely tuned through the judicious manipulation of their topological charges(l_(1)and l_(2)).Notably,we observe a precise control mechanism wherein the force diminishes with|l_(1)+l_(2)|and|l_(1)-l_(2)|,while the torque exhibits enhancement by decreasing solely with|l_(1)+l_(2)|or increasing with|l_(1)-l_(2)|.These results not only provide quantitative insights into the optical trapping performance of TCPBs but also serve as a valuable reference for the ongoing development of innovative photonic tools.

Coniopteris simplex is a common component in many Jurassic ***,due to morphological variations in sterile fronds and incomplete preservation of reproductive organs,its classification has been controversial for a long ***,we present new material collected from the Middle Jurassic Yan’an Formation in the Ordos Basin,Inner *** new material reveals important morphological characters,including hemi-dimorphic fronds,two forms of sterile pinnae,short-stalked sori and sporangia on fertile fronds,annulus of sporangium composed of about 30 cells,in situ rounded triangular spores with protruded suture,and the lips of trilete laesura encircled by one or two rows of small *** on these observations,we emended the diagnosis of this common *** spatio-temporal distribution of Coniopteris simplex shows that the iconic species was restricted to the paleolatitudes ranging from 19.5°N to 48.9°N in the Northern Hemisphere during the Early—Late Jurassic,mainly distributed in the tropical to paratropical zones,and the paleolongitude ranging from 9.6°E to 129.3°E,which may be limited by the opening of the Viking Corridor and the splitting of the Central Atlantic Ocean.

Objective: The effects of arsenic trioxide(As2O3) on hepatocellular carcinoma have been documented widely. Autophagy plays dual roles in the survival and death of cancer cells. Therefore, we investigated the exact role of autophagy in As2O3-induced apoptosis in liver cancer ***: The viability of hepatoma cells was determined using the MTT assay with or without fetal bovine serum. The rate of apoptosis in liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was evaluated using flow cytometry, Hoechst 33258 staining, and TUNEL assays. The rate of autophagy among liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was detected using immunofluorescence, Western blot assay and transmission electron ***: Upon treatment with As2O3, the viability of HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells was decreased in a time-and dose-dependent manner. The apoptosis rates of both liver cancer cell lines increased with the concentration of As2O3, as shown by flow cytometry. Apoptosis in liver cancer cells treated with As2O3was also shown by the activation of the caspase cascade and the regulation of Bcl-2/Bax ***, As2O3treatment induced autophagy in liver cancer cells;this finding was supported by Western blot, immunofluorescence of LC3-II and beclin 1, and transmission electron microscopy. In liver cancer cells, As2O3inhibited the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin(PI3K/AKT/mTOR) signal pathway that plays a vital role in both apoptosis and autophagy. The PI3K activator SC-79 partially reversed As2O3-induced autophagy and apoptosis. Furthermore, inhibiting autophagy with 3-methyladenine partially reversed the negative effects of As2O3on cell *** starvation increased autophagy and amplified the effect of As2O3on cell ***: As2O3induces apoptosis and autophagy in liver cancer cells. Indium selenide (InSe),as a wide-bandgap semiconductor,has received extensive attention in the flexible electronics field in recent years due to its exceptional plasticity and promising thermoelectric ***,the low carrier concentration severely limits its thermoelectric performance *** this work,we conducted contrasting strategies that can be employed to increase the carrier concentration of InSe,including bandgap narrowing and heterovalent ***,the carrier concentration initially increases as a result of the reduced bandgap upon Te alloying and then slightly decreases due to the weak electronegativity of *** Br doping realizes high carrier concentration by pushing the Fermi level into the conduction bands and activating the multiple *** the other hand,both Te and Br obviously suppress the thermal conductivity due to the point defect *** contrast,Br doping realizes a higher thermoelectric performance with a maximum ZT of～0.13 at 773 K benefiting from the better optimization of carrier *** work elucidates the strategies for enhancing carrier concentration at anion sites and demonstrates the high efficiency of halogen doping in ***,the carrier concentration of InSe is promising to be further optimized,and future work should focus on employing approaches such as cation doping or secondphase compositing.

Worldwide,the incidence of major depressive disorder(MDD)is increasing annually,resulting in greater economic and social ***,the pathological mechanisms of MDD and the mechanisms underlying the effects of pharmacological treatments for MDD are complex and unclear,and additional diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for MDD still are *** currently widely accepted theories of MDD pathogenesis include the neurotransmitter and receptor hypothesis,hypothalamicpituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis hypothesis,cytokine hypothesis,neuroplasticity hypothesis and systemic influence hypothesis,but these hypothesis cannot completely explain the pathological mechanism of *** it is still hard to adopt only one hypothesis to completely reveal the pathogenesis of MDD,thus in recent years,great progress has been made in elucidating the roles of multiple organ interactions in the pathogenesis MDD and identifying novel therapeutic approaches and multitarget modulatory strategies,further revealing the disease features of ***,some newly discovered potential pharmacological targets and newly studied antidepressants have attracted widespread attention,some reagents have even been approved for clinical treatment and some novel therapeutic methods such as phototherapy and acupuncture have been discovered to have effective improvement for the depressive *** this work,we comprehensively summarize the latest research on the pathogenesis and diagnosis of MDD,preventive approaches and therapeutic medicines,as well as the related clinical trials.
