Protein expression changes in Tibetan middle-to-long distance runners after the transition from high altitude to low altitude:Implications for enhancing endurance training

The study aims to investigate the differences in protein expressions in Xizang's(Tibetan)middle-to-long distance runners after the transition from high altitude to low altitude and reveal the molecular mechanisms underlying their enhanced middle-to-long distance running *** the study,eleven subjects were selected from native Tibetan middle-to-long distance runners to participate in an 8-week pre-competition exercise training program consisting of a 6-week training stage in Kangding City at an altitude of 2560 meters(m)and a subsequent 2-week training stage in Leshan City at an altitude of 360 *** samples were collected twice from the runners before beginning altitude exercise training in Kangding and after going to sea level-Leshan *** a label-free quantitative method,peptides in the samples were analyzed by mass *** analysis was performed to identify differentially expressed proteins and predict their biological functions.A total of 846 proteins were identified in the 21 samples,including 719 quantified *** total,49 significantly differentially expressed proteins(p<0.05)were identified,including twenty-eight 0.2-fold up-regulated proteins or twenty-one 0.17-fold down-regulated *** up-regulated proteins,including cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator(CFTR)and carbonic anhydrase I(CAI),were of particular interest due to their role in regulating the oxygen saturation in deep *** Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis indicated that these proteins were mainly involved in regulating actin cytoskeleton,local adhesion,biotin absorption and metabolism,immune system,cancer,and membrane transport *** conclusion,Tibetan middle-to-long distance runners who resided in high-altitude areas benefited from repeated plateau-plain alternate training mode during the pre-competition *** training mode induced positive changes in peripheral blood plasma proteins(CFTR and CAI

Long period variable(LPV)stars are very promising distance indicators in the infrared *** selected asymptotic giant branch(AGB)stars in the Large and Small Magellanic Cloud(LMC and SMC)from the Gaia Data Release 3 LPV catalog,and classified them into oxygen-rich(O-rich)and carbon-rich(C-rich)AGB *** the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer database,we determined the W1-and W2-band period-luminosity relations(PLRs)for each pulsation-mode sequence of AGB *** dispersion of the PLRs of O-rich AGB stars in sequences C'and C is relatively small,around 0.14 *** PLRs of LMC and SMC are consistent in each *** the W2 band,the PLR of large-amplitude C-rich AGB stars is steeper than that of small-amplitude C-rich AGB stars,due to their more circumstellar *** two methods,we find that some PLR sequences of O-rich AGB stars in the LMC are dependent on *** coefficients of the metallicity effect areβ=-0.533±0.213 mag dex~1andβ=-0.767±0.158 mag dex~1for sequence C in W1 and W2 bands,*** significance of the metallicity effect in W1 band for the four sequences is 2.2-3.5σ.Both of these imply that distance measurements using O-rich Mira may need to take the metallicity effect into account.

Beams typically do not travel through the magnet centers because of errors in storage *** beam deviating from the quadrupole centers is affected by additional dipole fields due to magnetic field ***-based alignment(BBA)is often performed to determine a golden orbit where the beam circulates around the quadrupole center *** storage rings with many quadrupoles,the conventional BBA procedure is time-consuming,particularly in the commissioning phase,because of the necessary iterative *** addition,the conventional BBA method can be affected by strong coupling and the nonlinearity of the storage ring *** this study,a novel method based on a neural network was proposed to determine the golden orbit in a much shorter time with reasonable *** golden orbit can be used directly for operation or adopted as a starting point for conventional *** method was demonstrated in the HLS-II storage ring for the first time through simulations and online *** results of the experiments showed that the golden orbit obtained using this new method was consistent with that obtained using the conventional *** development of this new method and the corresponding experiments are reported in this paper.

Mg-Al-hydrotalcite with alkaline sites protects Ni/KIT-6 from formation of amorphous coke in glycerol steam reforming via tailoring reaction intermediates

During steam reforming,the performance of a catalyst and amount/property of coke are closely related to reaction intermediates reaching surface of a ***,modification of reaction intermediates by placing Mg-Al-hydrotalcite above Ni/KIT-6 catalyst in steam reforming of glycerol was conducted at 300 to 600°*** results revealed that the catalytic activity of Ni/KIT-6 in the lower bed was enhanced with either Mg1-Al5-hydrotalcite(containing more acidic sites)or Mg5-Al1-hydrotalcite(containing more alkaline sites)as upper-layer *** in situ infrared characterization of steam reforming demonstrated that Mg-Al-hydrotalcite catalyzed the deoxygenation of glycerol,facilitating the reforming of the partially deoxygenated intermediates over Ni/***-Al-hydrotalcite as protective catalyst,however,did not protect the Ni/KIT-6 from formation of more ***,this did not lead to further deactivation of Ni/KIT-6 while Mg5-Al1-hydrotalcite even substantially enhanced the catalytic stability,even though the coke was much more significant than that in the use of single Ni/KIT-6(52.7%vs.28.6%).The reason beneath this was change of the property of coke from more aliphatic to more ***5-Al1-hydrotalcite catalyzed dehydration of glycerol,producing dominantly reaction intermediates bearing C=C,which formed the catalytic coke of with carbon nanotube as the main form with smooth outer walls as well as higher aromaticity,C/H ratio,crystallinity,crystal carbon size,thermal stability,and resistivity toward oxidation on Ni/KIT-6 in the lower *** comparison,the abundance of acidic sites on Mg1-Al5-hydrotalcite catalyzed the formation of more oxygen-containing species,leading to the formation of carbon nanotubes of rough surface on Ni/KIT-6.

Towards complex scenes: A deep learning-based camouflaged people detection method for snapshot multispectral images

Camouflaged people are extremely expert in actively concealing themselves by effectively utilizing cover and the surrounding environment. Despite advancements in optical detection capabilities through imaging systems, including spectral, polarization, and infrared technologies, there is still a lack of effective real-time method for accurately detecting small-size and high-efficient camouflaged people in complex real-world scenes. Here, this study proposes a snapshot multispectral image-based camouflaged detection model, multispectral YOLO(MS-YOLO), which utilizes the SPD-Conv and Sim AM modules to effectively represent targets and suppress background interference by exploiting the spatial-spectral target information. Besides, the study constructs the first real-shot multispectral camouflaged people dataset(MSCPD), which encompasses diverse scenes, target scales, and attitudes. To minimize information redundancy, MS-YOLO selects an optimal subset of 12 bands with strong feature representation and minimal inter-band correlation as input. Through experiments on the MSCPD, MS-YOLO achieves a mean Average Precision of 94.31% and real-time detection at 65 frames per second, which confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of our method in detecting camouflaged people in various typical desert and forest scenes. Our approach offers valuable support to improve the perception capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles in detecting enemy forces and rescuing personnel in battlefield.

Automated identification of steel weld defects,a convolutional neural network improved machine learning approach

This paper proposes a machine-learning-based methodology to automatically classify different types of steel weld defects,including lack of the fusion,porosity,slag inclusion,and the qualified(no defects)*** methodology solves the shortcomings of existing detection methods,such as expensive equipment,complicated operation and inability to detect internal *** study first collected percussed data from welded steel members with or without weld ***,three methods,the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients,short-time Fourier transform(STFT),and continuous wavelet transform were implemented and compared to explore the most appropriate features for classification of weld *** and convolutional neural network-enhanced algorithms were used to classify,the extracted ***,experiments were designed and performed to validate the proposed *** showed that STFT achieved higher accuracies(up to 96.63%on average)in the weld status *** convolutional neural network-enhanced support vector machine(SVM)outperformed six other algorithms with an average accuracy of 95.8%.In addition,random forest and SVM were efficient approaches with a balanced trade-off between the accuracies and the computational efforts.
