Background:Although sentinel lymph node biopsy(SLNB) can accurately predict the status of axillary lymph node(ALN) metastasis,the high false?negative rate(FNR) of SLNB is still the main obstacle for the treatment of patients who receive SLNB instead of ALN dissection(ALND).The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical significance of SLNB combined with peripheral lymph node(PLN) sampling for reducing the FNR for breast cancer and to discuss the effect of "skip metastasis" on the FNR of ***:At Shandong Cancer Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University between March 1,2012 and June 30,2015,the sentinel lymph nodes(SLNs) of 596 patients with breast cancer were examined using radiocolloids with blue dye ***,the SLNs were removed;then,the area surrounding the original SLNs was selected,and the visible lymph nodes in a field of 3–5 cm in diameter around the center(i.e.,PLNs) were removed,avoiding damage to the structure of the ***,ALND was *** SLNs,PLNs,and remaining ALNs underwent pathologic examination,and the relationship between them was ***:The identification rate of SLNs in the 596 patients was 95.1%(567/596);the metastasis rate of ALNs was 33.7%(191/567);the FNR of pure SLNB was 9.9%(19/191);and after the SLNs and PLNs were eliminated,the FNR was 4.2%(8/191),which was significantly decreased compared with the FNR before removal of PLNs(P Aected number(N) of SLNs,the patients were divided into four groups of N = 0.028).ccording to the det= 1,2,3,and ≥4;the FNR in these groups was 19.6,9.8,7.3,and 2.3%,*** the patients with removal of PLNs was significantly decreased compared with that before remo≤2 or val of P≤3 detected SLNs,the FNR afterLNs(N 3:12.2% vs.4.7%,P ≤ 2:14.0% vs.4.7%,P = 0.019;N ≤ nt(P = 0.021),whereas for patients with ≥4 detected SLNs,the decrease in FNR was not statistically significa= 1.000).In the entire cohorts,the "skip metastasis" rate was 2.5%(15/596);the FNR caused by "s

Effect of cooling rate on morphology and type of vanadium-containing phases in Al-10V master alloy

Effects of cooling rates on the morphology, sizes and species of primary vanadium-containing phases in Al-10V master alloys were investigated. The results show that the primary vanadium-containing phases with different morphologies and compositions present in Al-10V master alloys at different cooling rates with the pouring temperature of 1,170 °C. When the Al-10V master alloy is solidified in the refractory mold at a cooling rate of 2 °C·s-1, the vanadium-containing phases are mainly plate-like Al10V phases, with the average size of 100.0 μm in the center and 93.2 μm at the edge of the ingot. When the master alloy is solidified in the graphite mold at a cooling rate of 24.3 °C·s-1, the primary vanadium-containing phases are dendritic Al3V phases, with the average length of 297.0 μm for the first dendrite in the center and 275.0 μm at the edge of the ingot. The secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) is 9.5 μm in the center and 9.3 μm at the edge of the ingot, respectively. When the solidification is carried out in the copper mould at a cooling rate of 45.7 °C·s-1, the primary vanadium-containing phases are also Al3V phases but with smaller size, compared with that prepared at the cooling rate of 24.3 °C·s-1. As a result, the average length is 190.0 μm for the first dendrite in the center and 150.0 μm at the edge of the ingot. The SDAS is 9.8 μm in the center and 4.4 μm at the edge of the ingot, respectively.

Orthographic Processing of Developmental Dyslexic Children in China: Evidence from an Event-Related Potential Study

Objective:This study aimed to explore the orthographic processing of simplified Chinese characters in developmental dyslexic children in Kashgar,Xinjiang,China,and provide a theoretical basis for intervention strategies for developmental dyslexia in ***:Using event-related potential(ERP)measures,18 developmental dyslexic children and 23 typically developing children performed a character decision task with three types of stimuli:real characters(RCs),pseudocharacters(PCs),and noncharacters(NCs).Results:Behavioral results showed that the control children displayed a faster and higher accurate performance than the dyslexic children across PCs and *** data revealed that the RCs and PCs elicited a stronger P200 than the *** with the RCs and NCs,children in the control group showed more N400 negatives for *** is worth mentioning that dyslexic children did not show any difference on N400,which reflected the insufficient orthographic processing of dyslexic children in ***:These results show that Chinese dyslexic children had orthographic processing defects.

Seasonal Variation and Correlation with Environmental Factors of Photosynthesis and Water Use Efficiency of Juglans regia and Ziziphus jujuba

Both the photosynthetic light curves and CO2 curves of Juglans regia L. and Ziziphus jujuba Mill. var. spinosa in three seasons were measured using a LI-6400 portable photosynthesis system. The maximal net photosynthetic rate （Amax）, apparent quantum efficiency（φ）, maximal carboxylation rate （Vcmax） and water use efficiency （WUE） of the two species were calculated based on the curves. The results showed that Amax of J. regia reached its maximum at the late-season, while the highest values of Amax of Z. jujuba occurred at the mid-season. The Amax of J. regia was more affected by relative humidity （RH） of the atmosphere, while that of Z. jujuba was more affected by the air temperature. Light saturation point （LSP） and Light compensation point （LCP） of J. regia had a higher correlation with RH of the atmosphere, those of Z. jujuba, however, had a higher correlation with air temperature. Vcmax of both J. regia and Z. jujuba had negative correlation with RH of the atmosphere. WUE of J. regia would decrease with the rise of the air temperature while that of Z. jujuba increased. Thus it could be seen that RH, temperature and soil moisture had main effect on photosynthesis and WUE of J. regia and Z. jujuba. Incorporating data on the physiological differences among tree species into forest carbon models will greatly improve our ability to predict alterations to the forest carbon budgets under various environmental scenarios such as global climate change, or with differing species composition.

Prognostic evaluation of postoperative adjuvant therapy for operable cervical cancer:10 years'experience of National Cancer Center in China

Objective： The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors and to evaluate the impact of adjuvant therapy on clinical outcome for early-stage cervical cancer. Methods： The clinical-pathological data of all 1,335 patients with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics （FIGO） Ib-[Ia cervical cancer treated with primary radical surgery at the Chinese National Cancer Center between May 2007 and Dec 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. The median follow-up was 70 months. Results： Of all the patients, 61.6% of the cases received adjuvant therapy, with 5-year disease-free survival （DFS） of 92.1% and 5-year overall survival （OS） of 95.0%. In multivariate analysis, differentiation of G3 （P〈0.05）, lymph node metastasis （LNM, P〈0.05） and lymphovascular space invasion （LVSI, P〈0.05） were independent predictors for OS, while LNM （P〈0.05）, deep stroma invasion （DSI, P〈0.05） and LVSI （P〈0.05） were independent factors for DFS. The samples were stratified by histologic type, and cervical squamous cell carcinoma （SCC） was found to share the same independent factors except for differentiation of OS. As to patients with cervical adenocarcinoma/adenosquamons carcinoma （AC/ASC）, differentiation was the independent predictor of OS （P〈0.05）; and LVSI of DFS （P〈0.05）. Of 236 patients with high-risk factors, there was no significant difference in survival between concurrent chemoradiotherapy （CCRT, n=195）, radiotherapy （RT, n=24）, and chemotherapy （CT, n=17）. Among the 190 patients with LNM who underwent CCRT, 124 cases showed improved DFS after sequential CT （P=0.118）, with a recurrence rate decrease of 14%, though the difference was not statistically significant. Patients with single intermediate-risk factors like DSI or LVSI were found to partially benefit from adjuvant therapy, but the difference was not statistically significant. QTL Identification of the Insensitive Response to Photoperiod and Temperature in Soybean by Association Mapping

The insensitive response to photoperiod and temperature is an important quantitative trait for soybean in wide adaptation breeding. The natural variation in response to photoperiod and temperature was detected using 275 accessions of soybean [Glycine max （L.） Merrill] from China. Genome-wide association mapping, based on population structure analysis, was carried out using 118 SSR markers by the TASSEL GLM （general linear model） program. Nine SSR markers （P〈0.01） were associated with the value of the response to photoperiod and temperature （VRPT） caused by days to flowering （DF）, among which, Satt308 （LG M）, Sattl50 （LG M） and Satt440 （LG l）, were identified in both 2006 and 2007. Twelve SSR markers （P〈0.01） were associated with VRPT caused by days to maturity （DM）, among which three markers, Satt387 （LG N）, Satt307 （LG C2） and AW310961 （LG J）, were detected in both 2006 and 2007. In addition, a total of 20 elite alleles were screened out over 2006 and 2007 for being associated with an insensitive response to photoperiod and temperature （IRPT） caused by DF and a total of seven different elite alleles were screened out for being associated with IRPT caused by DM. Among these elite alleles, five alleles, Satt150-244, Satt308-164, Satt308-206, Satt440-176, and Satt440-206, were associated with IRPT caused by DF and were identified in both years, but only one allele, Satt307-170, was identified as being associated with an IRPT caused by DM. Based on these elite alleles, a set of typical accessions were screened out. The result about the genetic basis of IRPT is meaningful for soybean wide adaption breeding.

Transfer and Detection of barstar Gene to Maize Inbred Line 18-599 (White) by Particle Bombardment

In China, the purity of maize hybrid strain is discomforting to the development of seed industrialization. Finding a new method for reproduction of maize hybrid strain is necessary. In this study, using particle bombardment, barstar gene was transferred into maize inbred line 18-599 （White）, which is an antiviral and high quality maize inbred line. By molecular detection of the anther of transgenic maize, two plants transferred with barstar gene were gained in this study, which are two restorer lines. The two plants showed normal male spike, and lively microspores. But the capacity of the two restorer lines should be studied in the future. The aim of this study is to find a new method of reproduction of maize hybrid strain using engineering restorer lines and engineering sterility lines by gene engineering technology.

Predictors to assess non-sentinel lymph node status in breast cancer patients with only one sentinel lymph node metastasis

Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of avoiding axillary lymph node dissection （ALND） for patients with only one sentinel lymph node （SLN） metastasis. The characteristics and predictive factors for non-sentinel lymph node （NSLN） metastasis of patients with single positive SLN were also analyzed. Methods Patients with no and only one SLN metastasis （OIn and 1In group, n ≥2） were selected from 1228 cases of invasive breast carcinoma, who underwent axillary dissection in Shandong Cancer Hospital between November 1999 and December 2011, to compare the characteristics of NSLN metastasis between them. For the 1In group, the factors that influenced the NSLN metastasis were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. Results Differences of the NSLN metastasis between the OIn and the 1In groups were significant （P 〈0.001）. There was no significant difference between the axillary lymph node metastasis on level III in 1In group and OIn group （P=0.570）. When the total SLN number was 〉4 and with one positive case, the NSLN metastasis was not significantly different from that in the OIn group （P=-0.118）. In the 1In group, clinical tumor size （P = 0.012）, over-expression of Her-2 （P=0.003）, tumor grade （P=0.018） and the total number of SLN （P=0.047） significantly correlated with non-SLN metastasis. Clinical tumor size （P=0.015） and the expression of Her-2 （P=0.01） were independent predictive factors for non-SLN metastasis by the Logistic regression model. Conclusion Under certain conditions, breast cancer patients with single SLN metastasis could avoid ALND.
