In this paper, with K＋, Ca2＋ and Fe3＋ as the objects of study, retardation of soil-bentonite （SB） barrier materials for metal ions with different valences is investigated, and the adsorption mechanism, migration patterns and permeation behavior are explored so as to provide a theoretical basis for their application. The results show that the adsorption process for metal ions with different valences by SB barrier materials is fast, and the higher the valence, the greater the adsorption capacity. The fitting of the adsorption process conforms to pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetics and Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption equation, which explains that chemical adsorption is the dominating state and that the SB surface has certain heterogeneity. The permeability coefficient of K＋, Ca2＋ and Fe3＋ in SB each has a maximum and the higher the valence, the sooner the maximum appears. Also the higher the valence, the more obvious the effect on SB retardation performance; and the sooner the ion breaks through the barrier wall completely, that is, the wall＇s retardation performance for higher valent ions may decline.

Local heat transfer and flow characteristics,which is crucial to the overall performance of supercritical CO_(2) recuperators,is rarely examined in details in reported studies.In this paper,the local heat transfer and flow characteristics of supercritical CO_(2) in sinusoidal channel printed circuit heat exchangers are numerically investigated under the working conditions of recuperators.Based on the simplified physical model constituted by10 pitches,the variations of Re,heat flux,Nu,secondary flow and other relevant parameters along the flow direction are analyzed firstly.Comparison is further made between the high and low temperature recuperators(HTR and LTR).It's observed that the local heat transfer and flow characteristics vary greatly from the inlet to the outlet,especially in the LTR.Differences of 127.5% and 61.7% can be observed on the cold side of the LTR for Re and heat transfer coefficient h, respectively.Results indicate that the temperature difference and heat transfer coefficient h should not be regarded as constant and the distribution of h should be carefully considered in the design of the LTR.The complicated interactions among the varying thermophysical properties,buoyancy and the periodically changed centrifugal force are believed to be the key that shapes the flow fields.Furthermore,the changes of the wavy angle θ are found to have greater influence than the changes of mass flow rate in reshaping the flow field when θ>25°.Though gravity direction strongly affects the local heat transfer and flow characteristics,it's also found that the effects on the overall thermal-hydraulic performance are relatively minor.Yet the installation direction that yields a_y=g should better be avoided for the sinusoidal channel printed circuit heat exchanger.

Tuning the coordination atoms of central metal is an effective means to improve the electrocatalytic activity of atomic catalysts.Herein,iridium(Ir) is proposed to be asymmetrically anchored by sp-N and pyridinic N of hydrogen-substituted graphdiyne(HsGDY),and coordinated with OH as an Ir atomic catalyst(Ir_(1)-N-HsGDY).The electron structures,especially the d-band center of Ir atom,are optimized by these specific coordination atoms.Thus,the as-synthesized Ir_(1)-N-HsGDY exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performances for oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions in both acidic and alkaline media.Benefiting from the unique structure of HsGDY,IrN_(2)(OH)_(3) has been developed and demonstrated to act as the active site in these electrochemical reactions.All those indicate the fresh role of the sp-N in graphdiyne in producing a new anchor way and contributing to promote the electrocatalytic activity,showing a new strategy to design novel electrochemical catalysts.

BACKGROUND Jianpi Gushen Huayu Decoction(JPGS)has been used to clinically treat diabetic nephropathy(DN)for many years.However,the protective mechanism of JPGS in treating DN remains unclear.AIM To evaluate the therapeutic effects and the possible mechanism of JPGS on DN.METHODS We first evaluated the therapeutic potential of JPGS on a DN mouse model.We then investigated the effect of JPGS on the renal metabolite levels of DN mice using non-targeted metabolomics.Furthermore,we examined the effects of JPGS on c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)/P38-mediated apoptosis and the inflammatory responses mediated by toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)/nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)/NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3).RESULTS The ameliorative effects of JPGS on DN mice included the alleviation of renal injury and the control of inflammation and oxidative stress.Untargeted metabolomic analysis revealed that JPGS altered the metabolites of the kidneys in DN mice.A total of 51 differential metabolites were screened.Pathway analysis results indicated that nine pathways significantly changed between the control and model groups,while six pathways significantly altered between the model and JPGS groups.Pathways related to cysteine and methionine metabolism;alanine,tryptophan metabolism;aspartate and glutamate metabolism;and riboflavin metabolism were identified as the key pathways through which JPGS affects DN.Further experimental validation showed that JPGS treatment reduced the expression of TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathways and JNK/P38 pathway-mediated apoptosis related factors.CONCLUSION JPGS could markedly treat mice with streptozotocin(STZ)-induced DN,which is possibly related to the regulation of several metabolic pathways found in kidneys.Furthermore,JPGS could improve kidney inflammatory responses and ameliorate kidney injuries in DN mice via the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway and inhibit JNK/P38 pathwaymediated apoptosis in DN mice.

Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health.Obesity is associated with numerous pathological changes including insulin resistance,fatty liver,hyperlipidemias,and other obesity-related diseases.These comorbidities comprise a significant public health threat.Existing anti-obesity drugs have been limited by side effects that include depression,suicidal thoughts,cardiovascular complications and stroke.Acupuncture treatment has been shown to be effective for treating obesity and obesity-related conditions,while avoiding side effects.However,the mechanisms of acupuncture in treating obesity-related diseases,especially its effect on neural circuits,are not well understood.A growing body of research has studied acupuncture’s effects on the endocrine system and other mechanisms related to the regulation of neural circuits.In this article,recent research that was relevant to the use of acupuncture to treat obesity and obesity-related diseases through the neuroendocrine system,as well as some neural circuits involved,was summarized.Based on this,acupuncture’s potential ability to regulate neural circuits and its mechanisms of action in the endocrine system were reviewed,leading to a deeper mechanistic understanding of acupuncture’s effects and providing insight and direction for future research about obesity.

Boron is an ambitious fuel in energetic materials since its high heat release values,but its application is prohibited by low combustion efficiency and oxidization during storage.The polydopamine(PDA)was introduced into boron particles,investigating the impact of PDA content on the energetic behavior of boron.The results indicated that the PDA coating formed a fishing net structure on the surface of boron particles.The heat release results showed that the combustion calorific value of B@PDA was higher than that of the raw boron.Specifically,the actual combustion heat of boron powder in B@10%PDA increased by 38.08%.Meanwhile,the DSC peak temperature decreased by 100.65℃under similar oxidation rate compared to raw boron.Simultaneously,the B@PDA@AP and B@AP composites were prepared,and their combustion properties were evaluated.It was demonstrated that B@10%PDA@AP exhibited superior performance in terms of peak pressure and burning time,respectively.The peak pressure is 12.43 kPa more than B@AP and burning time is 2.22 times higher than B@AP.Therefore,the coating of PDA effectively inhibits the oxidization of boron during storage and enhances the energetic behavior of boron and corresponding composites.

"Carbon peaking and carbon neutrality"is an essential national strategy,and the geological storage and utilization of CO_(2)is a hot issue today.However,due to the scarcity of pure CO_(2)gas sources in China and the high cost of CO_(2)capture,CO_(2)-rich industrial waste gas(CO_(2)-rich IWG)is gradually emerging into the public's gaze.CO_(2)has good adsorption properties on shale surfaces,but acidic gases can react with shale,so the mechanism of the CO_(2)-rich IWG-water-shale reaction and the change in reservoir properties will determine the stability of geological storage.Therefore,based on the mineral composition of the Longmaxi Formation shale,this study constructs a thermodynamic equilibrium model of water-rock reactions and simulates the regularity of reactions between CO_(2)-rich IWG and shale minerals.The results indicate that CO_(2)consumed 12%after reaction,and impurity gases in the CO_(2)-rich IWG can be dissolved entirely,thus demonstrating the feasibility of treating IWG through water-rock reactions.Since IWG inhibits the dissolution of CO_(2),the optimal composition of CO_(2)-rich IWG is 95%CO_(2)and 5%IWG when CO_(2)geological storage is the main goal.In contrast,when the main goal is the geological storage of total CO_(2)-rich IWG or impurity gas,the optimal CO_(2)-rich IWG composition is 50%CO_(2)and 50%IWG.In the CO_(2)-rich IWG-water-shale reaction,temperature has less influence on the water-rock reaction,while pressure is the most important parameter.SO2 has the greatest impact on water-rock reaction in gas.For minerals,clay minerals such as illite and montmorillonite had a significant effect on water-rock reaction.The overall reaction is dominated by precipitation and the volume of the rock skeleton has increased by 0.74 cm3,resulting in a decrease in shale porosity,which enhances the stability of CO_(2)geological storage to some extent.During the reaction between CO_(2)-rich IWG-water-shale at simulated temperatures and pressures,precipitation is the main reaction,and shale porosity decrease

BACKGROUND This study aimed to identify characteristic gut genera in obese and normal-weight children(8-12 years old)using 16S rDNA sequencing.The research aimed to provide insights for mechanistic studies and prevention strategies for childhood obesity.Thirty normal-weight and thirty age-and sex-matched obese children were included.Questionnaires and body measurements were collected,and fecal samples underwent 16S rDNA sequencing.Significant differences in body mass index(BMI)and body-fat percentage were observed between the groups.Analysis of gut microbiota diversity revealed lowerα-diversity in obese children.Differences in gut microbiota composition were found between the two groups.Prevotella and Firmicutes were more abundant in the obese group,while Bacteroides and Sanguibacteroides were more prevalent in the control group.AIM To identify the characteristic gut genera in obese and normal-weight children(8-12-year-old)using 16S rDNA sequencing,and provide a basis for subsequent mechanistic studies and prevention strategies for childhood obesity.METHODS Thirty each normal-weight,1:1 matched for age and sex,and obese children,with an obese status from 2020 to 2022,were included in the control and obese groups,respectively.Basic information was collected through questionnaires and body measurements were obtained from both obese and normal-weight children.Fecal samples were collected from both groups and subjected to 16S rDNA sequencing using an Illumina MiSeq sequencing platform for gut microbiota diversity analysis.RESULTS Significant differences in BMI and body-fat percentage were observed between the two groups.The Ace and Chao1 indices were significantly lower in the obese group than those in the control group,whereas differences were not significant in the Shannon and Simpson indices.Kruskal-Wallis tests indicated significant differences in unweighted and weighted UniFrac distances between the gut microbiota of normal-weight and obese children(P<0.01),suggesting substantial disparities in both the species

Invertebrate species are a natural reservoir of viral genetic diversity,and invertebrate pests are widely distributed in crop fields.However,information on viruses infecting invertebrate pests of crops is limited.In this report,we describe the deep metatranscriptomic sequencing of 88 invertebrate samples covering all major invertebrate pests in rice fields.We identified 296 new RNA viruses and 13 known RNA viruses.These viruses clustered within 31 families,with many highly divergent viruses constituting potentially new families and genera.Of the identified viruses,13 RNA viruses clustered within the Fiersviridae family of bacteriophages,and 48 RNA viruses clustered within families and genera of mycoviruses.We detected known rice viruses in novel invertebrate hosts at high abundances.Furthermore,some novel RNA viruses have genome structures closely matching to known plant viruses and clustered within genera of several plant virus species.Fortyfive potential insect pathogenic RNA viruses were detected in invertebrate species.Our analysis revealed that host taxonomy plays a major role and geographical location plays an important role in structuring viral diversity.Cross-species transmission of RNA viruses was detected between invertebrate hosts.Newly identified viral genomes showed extensive variation for invertebrate viral families or genera.Together,the large-scale metatranscriptomic analysis greatly expands our understanding of RNA viruses in rice invertebrate species,the results provide valuable information for developing efficient strategies to manage insect pests and virus-mediated crop diseases.

Predictors of complications after prophylactic ileostomy reversal for rectal cancer:A retrospective study

BACKGROUND Previous studies have analyzed the risk factors for complications after ileostomy reversal for rectal cancer(RC),but there were significant differences in the reported risk factors for complications after stoma reversal.No studies have analyzed the risk factors for stoma-related complications and overall postoperative com-plications separately.AIM To analyze the risk factors for overall complications and stoma-related complications after ileostomy reversal for patients with RC.METHODS This was a retrospective study of 439 patients who underwent ileostomy reversal at a clinical center and were followed up between September 2012 and September 2022.Continuous variables are expressed as the mean±SD and were analyzed with independent-sample t tests,while frequency variables are expressed as n(%),and theχ2 test or Fisher’s exact test was used.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify predictors of overall complications and stoma-related complications.RESULTS The overall complication rate after ileostomy reversal was 11.4%.Patients with lower preoperative albumin concentration(P<0.01),greater blood loss(P=0.017),and longer operative times(P<0.01)were more likely to experience postoperative complications.The incidence of stoma-related complications was 6.4%.Analysis of the study showed that a higher body mass index(BMI)(P<0.01),preoperative comorbid hypertension(P=0.049),time from primary surgery to ileostomy reversal(P<0.01)and longer operation time(P=0.010)were more likely to result in stomarelated complications postoperatively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that a lower preoperative albumin level(P<0.01,OR=0.888,95%CI:0.828-0.958)was an independent risk factor for overall complications.Moreover,multivariate analysis revealed that BMI(P<0.01,OR=1.176,95%CI:1.041-1.330)and time from primary surgery to ileostomy reversal(P<0.01,OR=1.140,95%CI:1.038-1.252)were independent risk factors for stoma-related complications after stoma reversal.CONCLUSION The pre
