Nanocomposites of blends of biodegradable poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)and sustainable poly(propylene carbonate)(PPC)with nanosilica were prepared by melt compounding method.PBAT/PPC blend was partially miscible system with sea-island structure,and nanosilica particles were selectively dispersed in the continuous phase PBAT matrix to form the double percolation network.The introduction of nanosilica into PBAT/PPC blend reduced the size of dispersed PPC phase,promoted the crystallization of PBAT in the nanocomposites,and increased the storage modulus of the nanocomposites.The study of rheological behaviors indicated that the double percolation network was formed at the nanosilica loading of 5 wt%,as a result,the nanocomposites exhibited the solid-like viscoelastic behavior and their relaxation time was extended.With the increase of the nanosilica content,the PBAT/PPC/silica nanocomposites displayed increased Young's modulus and yield strength.

Electrically conductive fibric composites(CFCs)have been widely used as electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials;however,it is still difficult to achieve combination of strong interfacial adhesion,outstanding water proof performance,multi-functionality and superb EMI shielding performance for the CFCs.Herein,we report a novel“photo-thermally induced interfacial sintering”method to prepare flexible and superhydrophobic CFCs with excellent interfacial adhesion.The CFC possesses dual conductive network composed of carbon nanofiber and silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs),and a conductivity of 112.1 S/cm,imparting to the material excellent Joule heating performance,revealing an large SE and SSE(59.4 dB and 333.9 dB mm^(-1))of the CFC in the X band,respectively.In addition,the CFC can maintain its superhydrophobicity,high conductivity and excellent EMI shielding performance after cyclic abrasion,stretching and ultrasonication washing.This“interfacial sintering”strategy provides a new way to fabricating multi-functional and durable conductive polymer composite.

In the paper, a melt extraction method was used to fabricate Cu–4Ni–14Al（wt%） fiber materials with diameters between 50 and 200 μm. The fibers exhibited superelasticity and temperature-induced martensitic transformation. The microstructures and superelasticity behavior of the fibers were studied via scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and a dynamic mechanical analyzer（DMA）, respectively. Appropriate heat treatment further improves the plasticity of Cu-based alloys. The serration behavior observed during the loading process is due to the multiple martensite phase transformation.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)is a common disease in elderly men,and transurethral laser prostatectomy(TULP)has been widely used in the clinic to remove bladder outlet obstruction caused by BPH.Previous animal models for wound repair after prostatectomy have many limitations,and there have been no previous reports of a mouse model of TULP.Therefore,this study aimed to establish a novel mouse model of TULP.Twelve healthy adult Kunming(KM)mice received transurethral laser vaporization prostatectomy with a 200-μm thulium laser.The mice were sacrificed,and wound specimens from the prostatic urethra and bladder neck were harvested at 1 day,3 days,5 days,and 7 days after surgery.Hematoxylin-eosin(HE)and immunohistochemistry were applied to confirm the establishment of the mouse TULP model.One day after the surgery,urothelium expressing uroplakin(UPK)was absent in the urethral wound site,and a large number of necrotic tissues were found in the wound site.There was no UPK-positive urothelium in the wound 3 days after surgery.At 5 days after surgery,monolayer urothelium expressing UPK was found in the wound site,indicating that the re-epithelization of the wound had been completed.On the 7th day after surgery,there were multiple layers of urothelium with UPK expression,indicating that the repair was completed.It is feasible to establish a mouse TULP model by using a microcystoscope system and a 200-μm thulium laser.

DNA methylation plays an important role in plant growth and development,and in regulating the activity of transposable elements(TEs).Research on DNA methylation-related(DMR)genes has been reported in Arabidopsis,but little research on DMR genes has been reported in Brassica rapa and Brassica oleracea,the genomes of which exhibit significant differences in TE content.In this study,we identified 78 and 77 DMR genes in Brassica rapa and Brassica oleracea,respectively.Detailed analysis revealed that the numbers of DMR genes in different DMR pathways varied in B.rapa and B.oleracea.The evolutionary selection pressure of DMR genes in B.rapa and B.oleracea was compared,and the DMR genes showed differential evolution between these two species.The nucleotide diversity(π)and selective sweep(Tajima’s D)revealed footprints of selection in the B.rapa and B.oleracea populations.Transcriptome analysis showed that most DMR genes exhibited similar expression characteristics in B.rapa and B.oleracea.This study dissects the evolutionary differences and genetic variations of the DMR genes in B.rapa and B.oleracea,and will provide valuable resources for future research on the divergent evolution of DNA methylation between B.rapa and B.oleracea.

A 3D model applying temperature-and carbon concentration-dependent material properties was developed to describe the scrap melting behavior and carbon diffusion under natural convection.Simulated results agreed reasonably well with experimental ones.Scrap melting was subdivided into four stages:formation of a solidified layer,rapid melting of the solidified layer,carburization,and carburization+normal melting.The carburization stage could not be ignored at low temperature because the carburization time for the sample investigated was 214 s at 1573 K compared to 12 s at 1723 K.The thickness of the boundary layer with significant concentration difference at 1573 K increased from 130μm at 5 s to 140μm at 60 s.The maximum velocity caused by natural convection decreased from 0.029 m·s^(−1)at 5 s to 0.009 m·s^(−1)at 634 s because the differences in temperature and density between the molten metal and scrap decreased with time.

The impact of tandem duplication on gene evolution in Solanaceae species

Whole genome duplication(WGD) and tandem duplication(TD) are important modes of gene amplification and functional innovation, and they are common in plant genome evolution. We analyzed the genomes of three Solanaceae species(Solanum lycopersicum, Capsicum annuum, and Petunia inflata), which share a common distant ancestor with Vitis vinifera, Theobroma cacao, and Coffea canephora but have undergone an extra whole genome triplication(WGT) event. The analysis was used to investigate the phenomenon of tandem gene evolution with(S. lycopersicum) or without WGT(V. vinifera). Among the tandem gene arrays in these genomes, we found that V. vinifera, which has not experienced the WGT event, retained relatively more and larger tandem duplicated gene(TDG) clusters than the Solanaceae species that experienced the WGT event. Larger TDG clusters tend to be derived from older TD events, so this indicates that continuous TDGs(absolute dosage) accumulated during long-term evolution. In addition, WGD and TD show a significant bias in the functional categories of the genes retained. WGD tends to retain dose-sensitive genes related to biological processes, including DNA-binding and transcription factor activity, while TD tends to retain genes involved in stress resistance. WGD and TD also provide more possibilities for gene functional innovation through gene fusion and fission. The TDG cluster containing the tomato fusarium wilt resistance gene I3 contains 15 genes, and one of these genes, Solyc07g055560, has undergone a fusion event after the duplication events. These data provide evidence that helps explain the new functionalization of TDGs in adapting to environmental changes.

Manganese(Mn)toxicity-induced leaf chlorosis limits crop production in acidic soils,but its underlying mechanisms remain unknown.The effects of excessive Mn on chlorophyll(Chl)biosynthesis in sugarcane(Saccharum officinarum L.)leaves were investigated.Under Mn treatment,Chl concentration decreased with Mn accumulation and chlorosis appeared in expanding leaves.Before that,levels of the initial Chl precursor 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA)and its downstream intermediates decreased,whereas magnesium-protoporphyrin IX monomethyl ester(MgPME)accumulated.Overaccumulation of Mn in leaves downregulated the ALA biosynthetic gene GluTR(encoding glutamyl-tRNA reductase)and MgPME conversion gene MgPMEC(encoding MgPME cyclase),upregulated the ALA biosynthesis inhibitor FLU(encoding FLUORESCENT),but had no significant effect on the expression of other Chl biosynthetic genes.The above Mn-induced changes of Chl precursors and expression of corresponding genes commenced before the Chl decline and leaf chlorosis,and were reversed by ALA supplementation.Thus,excessive Mn-induced chlorosis in sugarcane is mediated by a Chl-biosynthesis disorder resulting from the inhibition of ALA synthesis and MgPME conversion.
