Multi-Exposure Motion Estimation Based on Deep Convolutional Networks

In motion estimation, illumination change is always a troublesome obstacle, which often causes severely per- formance reduction of optical flow computation. The essential reason is that most of estimation methods fail to formalize a unified definition in color or gradient domain for diverse environmental changes. In this paper, we propose a new solution based on deep convolutional networks to solve the key issue. Our idea is to train deep convolutional networks to represent the complex motion features under illumination change, and further predict the final optical flow fields. To this end, we construct a training dataset of multi-exposure image pairs by performing a series of non-linear adjustments in the traditional datasets of optical.flow estimation. Our multi-exposure flow networks （MEFNet） model consists of three main components： low-level feature network, fusion feature network, and motion estimation network. The former two components belong to the contracting part of our model in order to extract and represent the multi-exposure motion features; the third component is the expanding part of our model in order to learn and predict the high-quality optical flow. Compared with many state- of-the-art methods, our motion estimation method can eliminate the obstacle of illumination change and yield optical flow results with competitive accuracy and time efficiency. Moreover, the good performance of our model is also demonstrated in some multi-exposure video applications, like HDR （high dynamic range） composition and flicker removal.

Nitrogen deposition mediates more stochastic processes in structuring plant community than soil microbial community in the Eurasian steppe

Anthropogenic environmental changes may affect community assembly through mediating both deterministic(e.g.,competitive exclusion and environmental filtering)and stochastic processes(e.g.,birth/death and dispersal/colonization).It is traditionally thought that environmental changes have a larger mediation effect on stochastic processes in structuring soil microbial community than aboveground plant community;however,this hypothesis remains largely untested.Here we report an unexpected pattern that nitrogen(N)deposition has a larger mediation effect on stochastic processes in structuring plant community than soil microbial community(thosehan in microbial community(0.427±0.035).Consistently,the proportion of compositional variation explained by the deterministic soil and community indices was smaller for plant community(0.172–0.186)than microbial community(0.240–0.767).Meanwhile,as nitrogen addition rate increased,the linkage between plant and microbial community composition first became weaker and then became stronger.The larger stochasticity in plant community relative to microbial community assembly suggested that more stochasti

Automatic text summarization(ATS)has achieved impressive performance thanks to recent advances in deep learning(DL)and the availability of large-scale corpora.The key points in ATS are to estimate the salience of information and to generate coherent results.Recently,a variety of DL-based approaches have been developed for better considering these two aspects.However,there is still a lack of comprehensive literature review for DL-based ATS approaches.The aim of this paper is to comprehensively review significant DL-based approaches that have been proposed in the literature with respect to the notion of generic ATS tasks and provide a walk-through of their evolution.We first give an overview of ATS and DL.The comparisons of the datasets are also given,which are commonly used for model training,validation,and evaluation.Then we summarize single-document summarization approaches.After that,an overview of multi-document summarization approaches is given.We further analyze the performance of the popular ATS models on common datasets.Various popular approaches can be employed for different ATS tasks.Finally,we propose potential research directions in this fast-growing field.We hope this exploration can provide new insights into future research of DL-based ATS.

Because of the rapidly rhythm of modern society,fast food and take-out become the main dining methods for most of young people,while the outside foods always have few types of foods and nutrition is not complete.Nutrient imbalances may cause many diseases such as gastrointestinal diseases,cardiovascular diseases,diabetes,obesity,and cancer.In this environment,health products have emerged.At present,there are a wide variety of health care products at home and abroad,which are broadly divided into three categories:traditional vitamins,emerging nutrient products,and extracts of natural plant active ingredients.In the early 1970 s,the sales of health products in the United States had reached 170 million dollars.At present,it has nearly 100 billion dollars,which is almost 1/3 of the total food sales,people's demand for health products is increasing rapidly.In recent years,Chinese medicine health products become more popular in western,in fact,Chinese medicine health products have a long history of application in China and have a good reputation in the folk.Obviously,Chinese medicine health products have great potential for development.So this article mainly compared the de.velopment and state of health products between China and west countries.Based on the development of health products in western countries,this article analyzes the development trend and prospects for the development of Chinese medicine health products.It is roughly divided into three parts.The first part introduces the development reasons and history of western health products development.The sec.ond part introduces the history of Chinese health products and the current situation of Chinese medi.cine health products.The third part guesses the development trend of Chinese medicine health prod.ucts and provides some development ideas.The purpose of this airticle is to provide reference and ideas for the future research and development of traditional Chinese medicine health products.

From Liquid to Solid‑State Lithium Metal Batteries:Fundamental Issues and Recent Developments

The widespread adoption of lithium-ion batteries has been driven by the proliferation of portable electronic devices and electric vehicles,which have increasingly stringent energy density requirements.Lithium metal batteries(LMBs),with their ultralow reduction potential and high theoretical capacity,are widely regarded as the most promising technical pathway for achieving high energy density batteries.In this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of fundamental issues related to high reactivity and migrated interfaces in LMBs.Furthermore,we propose improved strategies involving interface engineering,3D current collector design,electrolyte optimization,separator modification,application of alloyed anodes,and external field regulation to address these challenges.The utilization of solid-state electrolytes can significantly enhance the safety of LMBs and represents the only viable approach for advancing them.This review also encompasses the variation in fundamental issues and design strategies for the transition from liquid to solid electrolytes.Particularly noteworthy is that the introduction of SSEs will exacerbate differences in electrochemical and mechanical properties at the interface,leading to increased interface inhomogeneity—a critical factor contributing to failure in all-solidstate lithium metal batteries.Based on recent research works,this perspective highlights the current status of research on developing high-performance LMBs.

Photosynthetic response dynamics in the invasive species Tithonia diversifolia and two co-occurring native shrub species under fluctuating light conditions

To determine the invasiveness of invasive plants,many studies have compared photosynthetic traits or strategies between invasive and native species.However,few studies have compared the photosynthetic dynamics between invasive and native species during light fluctuations.We compared photosynthetic induction,relaxation dynamics and leaf traits between the invasive species,Tithonia diversifolia and two native species,Clerodendrum bungei and Blumea balsamifera,in full-sun and shady habitats.The photosynthetic dynamics and leaf traits differed among species.T.diversifolia showed a slower induction speed and stomatal opening response but had higher average intrinsic water-use efficiency than the two native species in full-sun habitats.Thus,the slow induction response may be attributed to the longer stomatal length in T.diversifolia.Habitat had a significant effect on photosynthetic dynamics in T.diversifolia and B.balsamifera but not in C.bungei.In shady habitat,T.diversifolia had a faster photosynthetic induction response than in full-sun habitat,leading to a higher average stomatal conductance during photosynthetic induction in T.diversifolia than in the two native species.In contrast,B.balsamifera had a larger stomatal length and slower photosynthetic induction and relaxation response in shady habitat than in full-sun habitat,resulting in higher carbon gain during photosynthetic relaxation.Nevertheless,in both habitats,T.diversifolia had an overall higher carbon gain during light fluctuations than the two native species.Our results indicated that T.diversifolia can adopt more effective response strategies under fluctuating light environments to maximize carbon gain,which may contribute to its successful invasion.

The overdiagnosis of prostate cancer(PCa)caused by nonspecific elevation serum prostate-specific antigen(PSA)and the overtreatment of indolent PCa have become a global problem that needs to be solved urgently.We aimed to construct a prediction model and provide a risk stratification system to reduce unnecessary biopsies.In this retrospective study,clinical data of 1807 patients from three Chinese hospitals were used.The final model was built using stepwise logistic regression analysis.The apparent performance of the model was assessed by receiver operating characteristic curves,calibration plots,and decision curve analysis.Finally,a risk stratification system of clinically significant prostate cancer(csPCa)was created,and diagnosis-free survival analyses were performed.Following multivariable screening and evaluation of the diagnostic performances,a final diagnostic model comprised of the PSA density and Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System(PI-RADS)score was established.Model validation in the development cohort and two external cohorts showed excellent discrimination and calibration.Finally,we created a risk stratification system using risk thresholds of 0.05 and 0.60 as the cut-off values.The follow-up results indicated that the diagnosis-free survival rate for csPCa at 12 months and 24 months postoperatively was 99.7%and 99.4%,respectively,for patients with a risk threshold below O.05 after the initial negative prostate biopsy,which was significantly better than patients with higher risk.Our diagnostic model and risk stratification system can achieve a personalized risk calculation of csPCa.It provides a standardized tool for Chinese patients and physicians when considering thenecessity of prostatebiopsy.

Implications for fault reactivation and seismicity induced by hydraulic fracturing

Evaluating the physical mechanisms that link hydraulic fracturing(HF) operations to induced earthquakes and the anticipated form of the resulting events is significant in informing subsurface fluid injection operations. Current understanding supports the overriding role of the effective stress magnitude in triggering earthquakes, while the impact of change rate of effective stress has not been systematically addressed. In this work, a modified critical stiffness was brought up to investigate the likelihood, impact,and mitigation of induced seismicity during and after hydraulic fracturing by developing a poroelastic model based on rate-and-state fraction law and linear stability analysis. In the new criterion, the change rate of effective stress was considered a key variable to explore the evolution of this criterion and hence the likelihood of instability slip of fault. A coupled fluid flow-deformation model was used to represent the entire hydraulic fracturing process in COMSOL Multiphysics. The possibility of triggering an earthquake throughout the entire hydraulic fracturing process, from fracturing to cessation, was investigated considering different fault locations, orientations, and positions along the fault. The competition between the effects of the magnitude and change rate of effective stress was notable at each fracturing stage. The effective stress magnitude is a significant controlling factor during fracturing events, with the change rate dominating when fracturing is suddenly started or stopped. Instability dominates when the magnitude of the effective stress increases(constant injection at each fracturing stage) and the change rate of effective stress decreases(the injection process is suddenly stopped). Fracturing with a high injection rate, a fault adjacent to the hydraulic fracturing location and the position of the junction between the reservoir and fault are important to reduce the Coulomb failure stress(CFS) and enhance the critical stiffness as the significant disturbance of stresses at thes

Straw return increases crop production by improving soil organic carbon sequestration and soil aggregation in a long-term wheat-cotton cropping system

Straw return is a promising strategy for managing soil organic carbon(SOC)and improving yield stability.However,the optimal straw return strategy for sustainable crop production in the wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)-cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)cropping system remains uncertain.The objective of this study was to quantify the long-term(10 years)impact of carbon(C)input on SOC sequestration,soil aggregation and crop yields in a wheat-cotton cropping system in the Yangtze River Valley,China.Five treatments were arranged with a single-factor randomized design as follows:no straw return(Control),return of wheat straw only(Wt),return of cotton straw only(Ct),return of 50%wheat and 50%cotton straw(Wh-Ch)and return of 100%wheat and 100%cotton straw(Wt-Ct).In comparison to the Control,the SOC content increased by 8.4 to 20.2%under straw return.A significant linear positive correlation between SOC sequestration and C input(1.42-7.19 Mg ha^(−1)yr^(−1))(P2 and 1-2 mm at the 0-20 cm soil depth were also significantly elevated under straw return,with the greatest increase of the aggregate stability in the Wt-Ct treatment(28.1%).The average wheat yields increased by 12.4-36.0%and cotton yields increased by 29.4-73.7%,and significantly linear positive correlations were also detected between C input and the yields of wheat and cotton.The average sustainable yield index(SYI)reached a maximum value of 0.69 when the C input was 7.08 Mg ha^(−1)yr^(−1),which was close to the maximum value(SYI of 0.69,C input of 7.19 Mg ha^(−1)yr^(-1))in the Wt-Ct treatment.Overall,the return of both wheat and cotton straw was the best strategy for improving SOC sequestration,soil aggregation,yields and their sustainability in the wheat-cotton rotation system.
