Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation(ta-VNS)is a novel noninvasive treat-ment for stroke that directly stimulates the peripheral auricular branch of the vagus *** have been recent reports that ta-VNS combined with conventional rehabilitation training promotes the recovery of neurological function of patients with acute ***,these were small-sample-sized studies on the recovery of neurological function in patients after percutaneous vagus nerve stimulation in the subacute and chronic phases after *** double-blinded randomized controlled trial involved 60 acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke patients aged 18-80 years who received treatment in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical *** subjects were randomly assigned to receive ta-VNS or sham ta-VNS combined with conventional rehabilitation *** follow-up results over 1 year revealed that ta-VNS combined with conventional rehabilitation training greatly improved the recovery of motor and sensory functions and emotional responses compared with sham ta-VNS combined with conventional rehabilitation *** were no obvious side *** findings suggest that ta-VNS combined with conventional rehabilitation training for the treatment of acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke patients is safe and effective.

Theβ-Ga_(2)O_(3)films with different thicknesses are prepared by an atomic layer deposition *** influence of film thickness on the crystal quality is obvious,indicating that the thicker films perform better crystal quality,which is verified from x-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope(SEM)*** Ga_(2)O_(3)-based solar blind photodetectors with different thicknesses are fabricated and *** experimental results show that the responsivity of the photodetectors increases exponentially with the increase of the film *** photodetectors with inter-fingered structure based on 900 growth cyclesβ-Ga_(2)O_(3)active layers(corresponding film thickness of 58 nm)exhibit the best performances including a low dark current of 134 fA,photo-to-dark current ratio of 1.5×10^(7),photoresponsivity of 1.56 A/W,detectivity of 2.77×10^(14)Jones,and external quantum efficiency of 764.49%at a bias voltage of 10 V under 254-nm DUV *** photoresponse rejection ratio(R_(254)/R_(365))is up to 1.86×10^(5).In addition,we find that the photoelectric characteristics also depend on the finger spacing of the MSM *** the finger spacing decreases from 50μm to10μW,the photoresponsivity,detectivity,and external quantum efficiency increase significantly.

Preface to the special issue on Lushan earthquake

CFETR vacuum vessel(VV) mockup is constructed by Institute of Plasma Physics, its design parameters come from the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor(CFETR). Based on the combined method of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, numerical analysis is carried out in this paper, for the electromagnetic properties of CFETR VV mockup. A detailed CFETR VV mockup finite element model is established which consists of inner shell, outer shell, reinforcing ribs, ports and magnet coils, *** current loads are applied by current density method, to obtain the currents, magnetic inductions and electromagnetic forces and torques on VV during major disruption(MD), which will provide a technical support for the future structural design and loads evaluations of CFETR VV.

On April 20th, 2013, a strong earthquake （Ms7, China Earthquake Network Center） struck Lushan county of Sichuan province and the quake （hereafter referred to as Lushan earthquake） caused substantial loss of life and damage to infrastructure. Just as the 2008 Ms8 Wenchuan earthquake, the Lushan earthquake also occurred on the Longmenshan fault system. After the Lushan earthquake, preliminary studies of the Lushan earthquake and its pos- sible link to the Wenchuan earthquake have been published in special issues rapidly organized in a few journals such as Seismological Research Letters, Chinese Journal of Geo- physics and Science in China.

Ensuring complex pre-operative patient preparation before planned surgery is an essential preventive measure of SSIs （surgical site infections）. The aim of this study was to evaluate the difference in the effectiveness of the use of common soap and a tested product to reduce the occurrence of bacterial microorganisms on the skin surface in the area of the assumed surgical incision. Two hypotheses have been identified： H0： the tested product can be considered as beneficial for common pre-operative patient preparation in the incision area in order to significantly reduce the microbial load （decrease in CFU on a defined area of the blood agar by half of the original number and less）. H1： the tested product exceeds common soap by at least 20% when reducing the microbial load in the incision area. There were 80 microbiological prints examined on filter paper using the cultivation method on culture medium. The statistical method of the classic hypothesis test on the binomial distribution parameter versus the one-sided alternative has been used to process the results for the occurrence of microorganisms. The statistical processing of the results obtained by microbiological examination of prints allows for the confirmation of H0 and rejection of the H1 hypothesis. The results have shown the importance of proper pre-operative hygiene of the patient’s skin, regardless of the detergent base.

[Objectives]To study the quality standard of Chinese drug in compound Qianglinaogingsu Tablets(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis and Coru Cervi Pantotrichum).[Methods]The thin layer chromatography(TLC)differentiation method was established for Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis and Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum.[Results]TLC spots developed were fairly clear,and the blank test showed no interference.[Conclusions]The method is fast,simple and can be used for quality control of Qianglinaoqingsu Tablets.

Morphological, cytological and molecular analyses of a synthetic hexaploid derived from an interspecific hybrid between Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium anomalum

Gossypium anomalum represents an inestimable source of genes that could potentially be transferred into the gene pool of cultivated cotton. To resolve interspecific hybrid sterility problems, we previously treated triploid hybrids derived from a cross between Gossypium hirsutum and G. anomalum with 0.15% colchicine and obtained a putative fertile hexaploid. In this study, we performed morphological, molecular and cytological analyses to assess the hybridity and doubled status of putative interspecific hybrid plants. Most of the morphological characteristics of the putative hexaploid plants were intermediate between G. hirsutum and ***. Analysis of mitotic metaphase plates revealed 78 chromosomes, confirming the doubled hybrid status of the hexaploid. Genome-wide molecular analysis with different genome-derived SSR markers revealed a high level of polymorphism(96.6%) between G. hirsutum and G. anomalum. The marker transferability rate from other species to G. anomalum was as high as 98.0%. The high percentage of polymorphic markers with additive banding profiles in the hexaploid indicates the hybridity of the hexaploid on a genome-wide level. A-genome-derived markers were more powerful for distinguishing the genomic differences between G. hirsutum and G. anomalum than D-genome-derived markers. This study demonstrates the hybridity and chromosomally doubled status of the(G. anomalum × G. hirsutum)2hexaploid using morphological, cytological and molecular marker methods. The informative SSR markers screened in the study will be useful marker resources for tracking the flow of G. anomalum genetic material among progenies that may be produced by future backcrosses to G. hirsutum.
