Background Birth weight is a strong determinant of infant short-and long-term health *** socioeconomic position(SEP)is usually positively associated with birth *** this association extends to abnormal birth weight or there exists potential mediator is *** We analyzed data from 14,984 mother-infant dyads from the Born in Guangzhou Cohort *** used multi-variable logistic regression to assess the associations of a composite family SEP score quartile with macrosomia and low birth weight(LBW),and examined the potential mediation effect of maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index(BMI)using causal mediation *** The prevalence of macrosomia and LBW was 2.62%(n=392)and 4.26%(n=638).Higher family SEP was associated with a higher risk of macrosomia(OR 1.30,95%CI 0.93-1.82;OR 1.53,95%CI 1.11-2.11;and OR 1.59,95%CI 1.15-2.20 for the 2nd,3rd,and 4th SEP quartile respectively)and a lower risk of LBW(OR 0.69,95%CI 0.55-0.86;OR 0.76,95%CI 0.61-0.94;and OR 0.61,95%CI 0.48-0.77 for the 2nd,3rd,and 4th SEP quartile respectively),compared to the 1st SEP *** found that pre-pregnancy BMI did not mediate the associations of SEP with macrosomia and *** Socioeconomic disparities in fetal macrosomia and LBW exist in Southern *** the results can be applied to other populations should be further investigated.

Moisture removal and water recovery from the air are vital for regulating indoor humidity and mitigating water *** atmospheric water harvesters(AWH)focus primarily on increasing the moisture capture rate,but for it to be economical and sustainable,it is essential to consider the energy required to recover and harvest the captured ***,a mechanically flexible,biphilic sorption-based AWH made of green,environmentally friendly material is *** consists of a hygroscopic chitosan polymer embedded within a flexible,hydrophobic silica xerogel that can harvest 86.3 g water/g chitosan at 97%relative humidity and 25℃reaching saturation after 30 days(i.e.2.88 g water/g chitosan/day).Roughly 88%of the sorbed moisture was recovered by mechanical squeezing(ca.0.020 MPa)within 150 *** water harvesting experiments and uniaxial compression tests demonstrate that chitosan-silica xerogel is durable for longterm operations,providing a fast,reliable,and sustainable moisture removal and water harvesting tool.

Non-UV germicidal activity of fresh TiO_2 and Ag/TiO_2

Fresh TiO2 was found to possess a strong germicidal activity even without UV irradiation. Live Yeast （Saccharomyces cerevisiae） cells in contact with fresh TiO2 were found deformed and dead after 15min contact. The cause of germicidal activity was discussed from the observed cell deformation, lysis and increased absorption at 1680 cm^-1 in FT-IR spectra of the affected cells, which proved the oxidizing effect of fresh TiO2 to cells. The deformation caused by the stretching of cell wail and pressure built-up inside the cell, led to cell burst and release of intracellular materials. The degree of cell deformation was found positively related with the wetting property of TiO2. Cells are negatively charged, for Gram-negative cell （thinner ceil wail）, a higher germicidal effect was observed than Gram-positive cells. The germicidal effect of TiO2 gradually decreased after exposure to air at room temperature, as the wetting property decreased. This kind of germicidal activity was more effective compared to other germicidal process such as UVA/TiO2 or Ag＋. This shed light on designing new germicidal material either maintained by visible light irradiation, or by oxidation effect generated by reactive oxygen species.

Non-UV based germicidal activity of metal-doped TiO_2 coating on solid surfaces

A stain-based screening method was developed to screen different catalyst coatings for their germicidal activity. A Baclight dead/live bacteria viability kit （invitrogen, molecular probes） was used for staining the cell. The screening was carried out following a standard procedure. This included loading cell suspension to solid surface and maintaining contact for 30 min, then staining with a mixture containing dyes. The stained cells were observed using an epifluorescent microscope and photographed with a CCD camera under UV. Metal-doped TiO2 coatings on AI plates were prepared and tested for non-UV germicidal activity without using UV. It was tested using model microorganisms such as Bakers Yeast （Saccharomyces cerevisiae）, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas putida, and Escherichia coli. On the basis of the germicidal activity of catalyst and the degree of damage caused to the cells, the stained cells may appear green （viable）, green with red or yellow nuclei and yellow （compromised） or red （nonviable）. According to their stained color, cells were counted to calculate the percentage of dead, live, and compromised cells. Compromised cells are cells that grow very slowly after reculturing indicating a degree of reversible cell damage. Screening the germicidal activity using this staining method is accurate and efficient, and requires less time than the culture-based method. A modification to the procedure for measuring germicidal activity of rough surfaces or fibrous coatings was developed. Both TiO2 and metal-doped TiO2 （Ag, Pt, au, Cu） possess non-UV based germicidal activity. The germicidal activity of TiO2 was found to be related with its wetting property and can be improved by UV irradiation before testing. It is not greatly affected by contact time, indicating a fast acting germicidal activity.

The structure-activity relationship(SAR)for toluene absorption and desorption in ionic liquids(ILs)has been investigated for seven commercial ILs in bulk and thin liquid *** with imidazolium cations of different alkyl chain lengths and a Hofmeister series of anions including[CH3COO],[I],[BF4],[HSO4],and[PF6]were *** capacity for toluene increases with increasing kosmotropicity of the cation and anion,while the absorption rate in bulk ILs is governed by viscosity and that in thin ILs layer by the oil-water partition coefficient(Kow).A regenerability coefficient(Rp)measures toluene desorption and IL *** release rate as measured by dRp/dt correlates well with the Kow and viscosity of the ILs and tx,the time required to completely desorb toluene is related to its ionic strength as measured from v(C2H)of the imidazolium *** properties are in turn governed by the kosmotropicity of the cation and anion pair forming the IL.

Synthesis of benzo[b]phosphole-based alkynylgold(I)complexes with resistive memory properties modulated by donor–acceptor chromophores

A class of benzo[b]phosphole-based alkynylgold(I)complexes has been synthesized and *** complexes share a similar benzo-[b]phosphole ligand,in which the phosphole moiety is substituted with variousπ-conjugated units with different donor strengths,namely phenoxazinylphenyl,tris(di-tert-butylcarbazolyl)phenyl and 2,4-dimethylphenyl *** phosphole-containing gold(I)complexes are found to be strongly luminescent in toluene with tunable emission maxima and possess solvatochromic behaviors,suggesting an emission of metal-perturbed intraligand charge transfer *** voltammetry studies reveal that the presence of gold(I)metal center strongly perturbs the electronic properties of the phosphole moiety of the resultant complexes,which can be further finetuned by the auxiliary ligand on the gold(I)*** the resistive memory studies,devices based on these alkynylgold(I)complexes exhibit satisfactory binary memory behaviors,demonstrating low threshold voltages in narrow distributions,high durability and low misreading *** performances are believed to be originated from a field-induced charge transfer of the alkynylgold(I)complexes,in which the electron-accepting phosphole-gold(I)unit plays a crucial role in stabilizing the charge transfer state and that led to the observed resistive switching and memory behavior.

Climate change has altered locally singletype disasters to large-scale compound disasters because of increasing intensity and frequency of extreme rainfall *** compound disasters can combine small-scale floods,debris flows,shallow landslides,deep-seated landslides,and landslide lakes into a large-scale single disaster *** simulation models and evaluation tools are available for single-type disasters,no single model is well developed for compound disasters due to the difficulty of handling the interrelationship between two successive single-type *** study proposes a structure for linking available single-type simulation models to evaluate compound disasters and provides a useful tool of decision making for warning and planning of disaster reduction.

用晶种涂层二次生长成膜法研究了在含水量不同的澄清溶液合成体系中NaA型沸石膜的生长及沸石膜厚度的控制合成.用SEM,TEM和XRD表征手段分析了沸石膜的形成过程和微结构.在载体表面不涂晶种而直接合成则不易形成连续沸石膜;用晶种涂层二次法可以很容易形成均匀的连续膜.合成液中水量的高低强烈影响沸石膜的生长速率、形成结构和膜的厚度.在高水量(水硅摩尔比为2000)的合成体系中沸石生长速率慢,膜主要通过晶种层中的晶粒长大,交织成膜,且膜只有一层结构;而在低水量(水硅摩尔比为750)的合成体系中沸石生长速率快,膜则通过晶种层表面晶粒向外生长、交织成膜,而膜具有两层结构.通过调变合成液的水量可有效地控制沸石膜层的厚度,并能制得非常均匀、连续的膜.

使用一种简单、新颖的纳米沸石晶体自组装方法,以γ-氨丙基三甲氧基硅烷(AP-TMS)为偶联剂,成功地实现了纳米A型沸石粒子在多孔不锈钢、陶瓷以及单晶硅表面的沉积组装,获得了覆盖度高的连续、均匀的沸石粒子层.组装过程在合成釜内分为载体功能化和晶种化两步.以该沸石粒子层为晶种二次法成膜,形成了交织生长的连续、均匀的沸石膜,并用含少量水的苯甲醛混合液评价了微型膜的渗透蒸发性能,水-苯甲醛分离系数超过10000以上.考察了使用γ-氨丙基三甲氧基硅烷(AP-TMS)、γ-氯丙基三甲氧基硅烷(CP-TMS)和γ-巯丙基三甲氧基硅烷(SP-TMS)三种不同偶联剂时,纳米A型沸石晶体在多孔不锈钢、陶瓷以及单晶硅表面的自组装效果.研究发现,使用CP-TMS作为偶联剂时,只在不锈钢载体上形成较为连续的粒子层,而使用SP-TMS作为偶联剂时,在三种载体上纳米A型沸石粒子均不能沉积形成粒子层.对偶联剂的作用和粒子组装机制进行了讨论和预测.
