Chinese herbal dose in ancient and modern times:a comparative study

OBJECTIVE:Appropriate dose guarantees Chinese herb's safety and effectiveness.There are adult dose criteria for Chinese herbs in decoction in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China(2010 Edition) at present.But Chinese herbs have been frequently used in much higher doses than the dose criteria.This study has been conducted to test the dependability of the dose criteria.METHODS:Twenty Chinese herbs were selected as representatives and their adult doses in decoction in Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang,a famous ancient literature,have been reviewed and compared with those in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic ofChina(2010 Edition).RESULTS:The adult dose criteria for all these 20 Chinese herbs in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China(2010 Edition) haven't covered those in Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang.Furthermore,maximal adult doses in the dose criteria are much lower than those in BeiJiQianJinYaoFang.CONCLUSION:The dose criteria in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China(2010 Edition) are not comprehensive enough.Studying ancient literatures is an effective method to gain precious Chinese herbs' dose data and helps for new dose criteria's establishment in the future.

The effects of the Gaussian white noise excitation on structural safety due to erosion of safe basin in Duffing oscillator with double potential wells are studied in the present paper. By employing the well-developed stochastic Melnikov condition and Monte-Carlo method, various eroded basins are simulated in deterministic and stochastic cases of the system, and the ratio of safe initial points （RSIP） is presented in some given limited domain defined by the system＇s Hamiltonian for various parameters or first-passage times. It is shown that structural safety control becomes more difficult when the noise excitation is imposed on the system, and the fractal basin boundary may also appear when the system is excited by Gaussian white noise only. From the RSIP results in given limited domain, sudden discontinuous descents in RSIP curves may occur when the system is excited by harmonic or stochastic forces, which are different from the customary continuous ones in view of the firstpassage problems. In addition, it is interesting to find that RSIP values can even increase with increasing driving amplitude of the external harmonic excitation when the Gaussian white noise is also present in the system.

目的观察白藜芦醇(Resveratrol,Res)对多囊卵巢综合征(polycystic ovarian syndrome,PCOS)小鼠心脏功能结构的改善作用,探讨其可能作用机制。方法取30只3周龄雌性SPF级小鼠,均分为模型组、干预组及空白组:模型组和干预组小鼠皮下注射脱氢表雄酮(6 mg/100 g)1次/天,连续21 d构建PCOS模型,空白组小鼠皮下注射6 mg/100 g芝麻油(1次/天,连续21 d)。干预组小鼠用100 mg/kg的Res灌胃,1次/天,连续28 d,模型组及空白组小鼠正常饲养。采用小动物心电图仪和超声心动图检测各组小鼠心率、QT间期和左心室射血分数;处死各组小鼠,取心脏组织称重并留取主动脉血液,采用he染色法观察小鼠心肌组织肥大情况、Masson染色法观察小鼠心肌组织纤维化情况,采用Western Blotting法检测小鼠心肌组织M1型巨噬细胞标志物CD86、M2型巨噬细胞标志物CD206,采用ELISA法检测小鼠主动脉血清炎症因子白细胞介素6(IL-6)、精氨酸酶1(ARG-1)。结果与空白组相比,末次灌胃结束后模型组小鼠心率低、QT间期长、左心室射血分数低、心脏质量大(P<0.05)。与模型组相比,末次灌胃结束后干预组小鼠心率高、QT间期缩短、射血分数升高、心脏质量低(P<0.05)。与空白组相比,模型组小鼠心脏细胞横截面较大,纤维组织多;与模型组相比,干预组小鼠心脏细胞横截面变小,纤维组织减少。与模型组相比,空白、干预组小鼠心肌组织CD206蛋白相对表达量高、CD86蛋白相对表达量低(P均<0.05)。与空白组相比,模型组小鼠主动脉血清IL-6水平升高、ARG-1水平下降(P均<0.05);与模型组相比,干预组小鼠小鼠主动脉血清IL-6水平降低、ARG-1水平升高(P均<0.05)。结论Res灌胃可改善PCOS小鼠的心脏结构和功能、促进心肌组织CD206蛋白表达、抑制心肌组织CD86蛋白表达,降低主动脉血清IL-6水平、提高主动脉血清ARG-1水平,其机制可能为Res促进心脏巨噬细胞向M2型极化,减轻心脏组织的炎症反应。

Two-dimensional(2D)tungsten selenide(WSe_(2))is promising candidate material for future electronic applications,owing to its potential for ultimate device scaling.For improving the electronic performance of WSe_(2)-based field-effect transistors(FETs),the modification of surface properties is essential.In this study,the seamless structural phase transition in WSe_(2) lattice is achieved by soft oxygen plasma,regulating the electrical conductance of WSe_(2)-based FETs.We found that during the soft oxygen plasma treatment with optimal processing time,the generated oxygen ions can substitute some selenium atoms and thus locally modify the bond length,inducing 2H→1T phase transition in WSe_(2) with seamless interfaces.The mosaic structures have been proven to tailor the electronic structure and increase the hole carrier concentration inside WSe_(2),significantly increasing the channel conductance of WSe_(2) FETs.With the further increase of the oxygen plasma treatment time,the creation of more selenium vacancy defects leads to the electronic doping,resulting in the reduction of conductance.Benefiting from the hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)encapsulation to interrupt the partial structural relaxation from 1T to 2H phase,our WSe_(2) FET exhibits high electronic stability with conductance of 6.8×10^(-4) S,which is about four orders of magnitude higher than 2H WSe_(2)(5.8×10^(-8) S).This study could further broaden the WSe_(2) FETs in applications for functionalization and integration in electronics.

CEOs’Diverse Career Experiences and the Effectiveness of Compensation Contracts:Evidence from Compensation Stickiness

CEO compensation stickiness represents an important indicator to measure the effectiveness of compensation contracts.This study uses CEO career experience data and compensation stickiness data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2015 to 2020 to investigate the compensation contracts’effectiveness of CEOs with diverse career experiences.The findings are as follows:1)Compensation stickiness is more pronounced for CEOs with diverse career experiences.According to the mechanism test,these CEOs with diverse career experiences can obtain compensation incentives by reducing corporate uncertainty perception and improving total factor productivity.This approach leads to increased compensation stickiness and the effectiveness of compensation contracts.CEOs with diverse career experiences may receive excess compensation by raising agency costs,which intensifies compensation stickiness and weakens the effectiveness of compensation contracts.2)Compensation stickiness of CEOs with diverse career experiences is more significant in companies with lower investor protection,which brings about less effective compensation contracts.In contrast,in companies with higher diversification,the compensation stickiness of CEOs with diverse career experiences is more significant,which delivers more effective compensation contracts.The conclusions deepen the research of CEO compensation contracts and provide a helpful reference for CEO compensation management practices.

Force spectrum measurements with constant loading rates are widely used in single-molecule manipulation experiments to study the mechanical stability and force response of biomolecules.Force-dependent transition rates can be obtained from the transition force distribution,but it is limited to the force range with non-zero force distribution.Although constant loading rate control can be realized with magnetic tweezers,the loading rate range is limited due to the slow movement of permanent magnets.Non-linear exponential and exponential squared force loading functions are more feasible in magnetic tweezers,while there is no theoretical result available for these two kinds of non-linear force loading functions.In this study,we solved the unfolding process of a protein following Bell's model under nonlinear exponential and exponential squared force loading functions,which offer a broader range of unfolding force distribution compared to the traditional constant loading rate experiments.Furthermore,we derived two force loading functions,which can produce uniform unfolding force distribution.This research contributes fundamental equations for the analysis of experimental data obtained through single-molecule manipulation under nonlinear force loading controls,paving the way for the use of nonlinear force control in magnetic tweezer experiments.

Genetic and pathogenic characterization of new infectious bronchitis virus strains in the GVI-1 and GI-19 lineages isolated in central China

Avian infectious bronchitis(IB)is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by infectious bronchitis virus(IBV),which is prevalent in many countries worldwide and causes serious harm to the poultry industry.At present,many commercial IBV vaccines have been used for the prevention and control of IB;however,IB outbreaks occur frequently.In this study,two new strains of IBV,SX/2106 and SX/2204,were isolated from two flocks which were immunized with IBV H120 vaccine in central China.Phylogenetic and recombination analysis indicated that SX/2106,which was clustered into the GI-19 lineage,may be derived from recombination events of the GI-19 and GI-7 strains and the LDT3-A vaccine.Genetic analysis showed that SX/2204 belongs to the GVI-1 lineage,which may have originated from the recombination of the GI-13 and GVI-1 strains and the H120 vaccine.The virus cross-neutralization test showed that the antigenicity of SX/2106 and SX/2204 was different from H120.Animal experiments found that both SX/2106 and SX/2204 could replicate effectively in the lungs and kidneys of chickens and cause disease and death,and H120 immunization could not provide effective protection against the two IBV isolates.It is noteworthy that the pathogenicity of SX/2204 has significantly increased compared to the GVI-1 strains isolated previously,with a mortality rate up to 60%.Considering the continuous mutation and recombination of the IBV genome to produce new variant strains,it is important to continuously monitor epidemic strains and develop new vaccines for the prevention and control of IBV epidemics.

With the rapid growth of manuscript submissions,finding eligible reviewers for every submission has become a heavy task.Recommender systems are powerful tools developed in computer science and information science to deal with this problem.However,most existing approaches resort to text mining techniques to match manuscripts with potential reviewers,which require high-quality textual information to perform well.In this paper,we propose a reviewer recommendation algorithm based on a network diffusion process on a scholar-paper multilayer network,with no requirement for textual information.The network incorporates the relationship of scholar-paper pairs,the collaboration among scholars,and the bibliographic coupling among papers.Experimental results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art recommendation methods that use graph random walk and matrix factorization and methods that use machine learning and natural language processing,with improvements of over 7.62%in recall,5.66%in hit rate,and 47.53%in ranking score.Our work sheds light on the effectiveness of multilayer network diffusion-based methods in the reviewer recommendation problem,which will help to facilitate the peer-review process and promote information retrieval research in other practical scenes.
