BACKGROUND Uninterrupted use of oral anticoagulants before atrial fibrillation(AF)ablation can reduce the incidence of perioperative thromboembolic events.However,the effect of new oral anticoagulants on activated clotting time(ACT)in respo-nse to heparin during AF ablation in Chinese populations remains unknown.The aim of the present retrospective study was to investigate the value of ACTs in response to intraoperative heparin administration in patients using dabigatran or rivaroxaban.METHODS From January 2018 to December 2021,a total of 173 patients undergoing AF ablation were included in the study,in which 101 patients were treated with dabigatran,72 patients were treated with rivaroxaban.The intraoperative ACT values were examined in both groups.The incidence of periprocedural complications was evaluated.RESULTS Initial heparin dosage(88±19 U/kg vs.78±27 U/kg,Plica-tions between the two groups.CONCLUSIONS The anticoagulant effect of uninterrupted rivaroxaban therapy appears to be more stable and efficient than dabigatran administration during catheter ablation in patients with AF.

This paper consider the （BMAP1, BMAP2）/（PH1, PH2）/N retrial queue with finite-position buffer. The behavior of the system is described in terms of continuous time multi-dimensional Markov chain. Arriving type I calls find all servers busy and join the buffer, if the positions of the buffer are insufficient, they can go to orbit. Arriving type II calls find all servers busy and join the orbit directly. Each server can provide two types heterogeneous services with Phase-type （PH） time distribution to every arriving call （including types I and II calls）, arriving calls have an option to choose either type of services. The model is quite general enough to cover most of the systems in communication networks. We derive the ergodicity condition, the stationary distribution and the main performance characteristics of the system. The effects of various parameters on the system performance measures are illustrated numerically.

AIM: To investigate the clinical value of ultrasono-graphic diagnosis of biliary atresia (BA), a retrospective analysis of the sonogram of 20 children with BA was undertaken. METHODS: Ultrasonography (US) was performed in 20 neonates and infants with BA, which was confirmed with cholangiography by operation or abdominoscopy. The presence of triangular cord, the size and echo of liver, the changes in empty stomach gallbladder and postprandial gallbladder were observed and recorded. RESULTS: The triangular cord could be observed at the porta hepatis (thickness: 0.3-0.6 cm) in 10 cases. Smaller triangular cord (0.2-0.26 cm) can be observed in 3 cases. The gallbladder was not observed in 2 cases, and 1 case showed a streak gallbladder without capsular space. The gallbladders of 15 cases were flat and small. The gallbladders of 2 cases were of normal size and appearance, however, there was no postprandial contraction. The livers of all cases showed hepatomegaly and hetreogeneous echogenicity. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the hepatomegaly and hetreogeneous echogenicity and the stage of hepatic fibrosis. CONCLUSION: The presence of the triangular cord atthe porta hepatis is specific. However, it is not the only diagnostic criterion, since flat and small gallbladder and poor contraction are also of important diagnostic and differential diagnostic significance. The degree of hepatomegaly and hetreogeneous echogenicity is proportional with liver fibrosis, and able to indicate the duration of course and prognosis.

Micro/nanorobots hold exciting prospects for biomedical and even clinical applications due to their small size and high controllability.However,it is still a big challenge to maneuver micro/nanorobots into narrow spaces with high deformability and adaptability to perform complicated biomedical tasks.Here,we report a light-controlled soft bio-microrobots(called“Ebot”)based on Euglena gracilis that are capable of performing multiple tasks in narrow microenvironments including intestinal mucosa with high controllability,deformability and adaptability.The motion of the Ebot can be precisely navigated via light-controlled polygonal flagellum beating.Moreover,the Ebot shows highly controlled deformability with different light illumination duration,which allows it to pass through narrow and curved microchannels with high adaptability.With these features,Ebots are able to execute multiple tasks,such as targeted drug delivery,selective removal of diseased cells in intestinal mucosa,as well as photodynamic therapy.This light-controlled Ebot provides a new bio-microrobotic tool,with many new possibilities for biomedical task execution in narrow and complicated spaces where conventional tools are difficult to access due to the lack of deformability and bio-adaptability.

The electrolyte directly contacts the essential parts of a lithium-ion battery,and as a result,the electrochemical properties of the electrolyte have a significant impact on the voltage platform,charge discharge capacity,energy density,service life,and rate discharge performance.By raising the voltage at the charge/discharge plateau,the energy density of the battery is increased.However,this causes transition metal dissolution,irreversible phase changes of the cathode active material,and parasitic electrolyte oxidation reactions.This article presents an overview of these concerns to provide a clear explanation of the issues involved in the development of electrolytes for high-voltage lithium-ion batteries.Additionally,solidstate electrolytes enable various applications and will likely have an impact on the development of batteries with high energy densities.It is necessary to improve the high-voltage performance of electrolytes by creating solvents with high thermal stabilities and high voltage resistance and additives with superior film forming performance,multifunctional capabilities,and stable lithium salts.To offer suggestions for the future development of high-energy lithium-ion batteries,we conclude by offering our own opinions and insights on the current development of lithium-ion batteries.

BACKGROUND Sepsis is a serious infectious disease caused by various systemic inflammatory responses and is ultimately life-threatening.Patients usually experience depression and anxiety,which affect their sleep quality and post-traumatic growth levels.AIM To investigate the effects of sepsis,a one-hour bundle(H1B)management was combined with psychological intervention in patients with sepsis.METHODS This retrospective analysis included 300 patients with sepsis who were admitted to Henan Provincial People’s Hospital between June 2022 and June 2023.According to different intervention methods,the participants were divided into a simple group(SG,n=150)and combined group(CG,n=150).H1B management was used in the SG and H1B management combined with psychological intervention was used in the CG.The changes of negative emotion,sleep quality and post-traumatic growth and prognosis were compared between the two groups before(T0)and after(T1)intervention.RESULTS After intervention(T1),the scores of the Hamilton Anxiety scale and Hamilton Depression scale in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG(Plity,sleep efficiency,daytime dysfunction,sleep disturbance dimension score,and the total score in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG(Plife,mental changes,relationship with others,personal strength dimension score,and total score of the CG were significantly higher than those of the SG(Plity of the CG were significantly lower than those of the SG(Plity of sleep and life.

Biomimetic porous silicon oxycarbide ceramics with improved specific strength and efficient thermal insulation

Considering the challenge of aerodynamic heating,the development of high-performance insulating ce-ramic materials with lightweight and low thermal conductivity is crucially important for aerospace vehi-cles to achieve flight at high speed for a long time.In this work,macro-porous silicon oxycarbide(SiOC)ceramics with directional pores(DP-SiOC)(mean pore size of 88.1μm)were prepared using polysiloxane precursors via freeze casting and photocrosslinking,followed by pyrolysis.The DP-SiOC samples were lightweight(density∼0.135 g cm^(-3))with a porosity of 90.4%,which showed good shapability through the molding of polysiloxane precursors.The DP-SiOC samples also exhibited an ultra-low thermal con-ductivity of 0.048 W(m K)^(-1)at room temperature,which can also withstand heat treatment at 1200°C for 1 h.In addition,scaffolds with triply periodic minimal surfaces(TPMS)were fabricated using digital light processing(DLP)printing,which was further filled with polysiloxane precursors for increasing the strength of DP-SiOC.The TPMS scaffolds filled with macro-porous SiOC ceramics(TPMS-DP-SiOC)showed good integration between TPMS and macro-pore structures,which had a porosity∼75%and high specific strength of 9.73×10^(3)N m kg^(-1).The thermal conductivity of TPMS-DP-SiOC samples was 0.255 W(m K)^(-1)at room temperature.The biomimetic TPMS-DP-SiOC ceramics developed in this study are likely used for thermal protection systems.

The metal-based additive manufacturing(AM),also referred to as metal 3D printing,has drawn particular interest because it enables direct creation,aided by computationally-directed path design,of intricate components with site-specific compositions and geometrical requirements as well as low buy-to-fly ratios.During the last two decades,the objective of this revolutionary technology has been shifting from only“rapid prototyping”to advanced manufacturing of special high-end products or devices,which,in many aspects,outperform conventional manufacturing technologies.For fusion-based AM,significant progress has been achieved in understanding the processing window of macroscopic scales,non-equilibrium metallurgy of mesoscale scales,and grain evolution of microscopic scales.Although the versatile capacity of AM facilitates new avenues for discovering advanced materials and structures,their potential has still not been fully explored.Given the unique non-equilibrium solidification during the AM process,coarse columnar grains with strong textures are usually developed along the build direction,which downgrades the mechanical performance.To push the limits of this digital manufacturing,this review attempts to provide in-depth and comprehensive overviews of the recent progress in understanding the evolution and control of the as-built microstructure that has been made recently and the challenges encountered during the AM process.

Although the internal electric field(IEF)of photocatalysts is acknowledged as a potent driving force for photocharge separation,modulating the IEF intensity to achieve enhanced photocatalytic performances remains a challenge.Herein,cuprous sulfide nanosheets with different Cu vacancy concentration were employed to study IEF modulation and corresponding direct charge transfer.Among the samples,Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets possessed intensified IEF intensity compared with those of Cu_(2)S and Cu_(1.95)S nanosheets,suggesting that an enhanced IEF intensity could be achieved by introducing more Cu vacancies.This intensified IEF of Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets induced numerous photogenerated electrons to migrate to its surface,and the dissociative electrons were then captured by Cu vacancies,resulting in efficient charge separation spatially.In addition,the Cu vacancies on Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets accumulated electrons as active sites to lower the energy barrier of rate-determining step of CO_(2)photoreduction,leading to the selective conversion of CO_(2)to CO.Herein,the manipulation of IEF intensity through Cu vacancy concentration regulation of cuprous sulfide photocatalysts for efficient charge separation has been discussed,providing a scientific strategy to rationally improve photocata lytic performances for solar energy conversion.

Background:According to clinical practice guidelines,transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)is the standard treatment modality for patients with intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Early prediction of treatment response can help patients choose a reasonable treatment plan.This study aimed to investigate the value of the radiomic-clinical model in predicting the efficacy of the first TACE treatment for HCC to prolong patient survival.Methods:A total of 164 patients with HCC who underwent the first TACE from January 2017 to September 2021 were analyzed.The tumor response was assessed by modified response evaluation criteria in solid tumors(mRECIST),and the response of the first TACE to each session and its correlation with overall survival were evaluated.The radiomic signatures associated with the treatment response were identified by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO),and four machine learning models were built with different types of regions of interest(ROIs)(tumor and corresponding tissues)and the model with the best performance was selected.The predictive performance was assessed with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and calibration curves.Results:Of all the models,the random forest(RF)model with peritumor(+10 mm)radiomic signatures had the best performance[area under ROC curve(AUC)=0.964 in the training cohort,AUC=0.949 in the validation cohort].The RF model was used to calculate the radiomic score(Rad-score),and the optimal cutoff value(0.34)was calculated according to the Youden’s index.Patients were then divided into a high-risk group(Rad-score>0.34)and a low-risk group(Rad-score≤0.34),and a nomogram model was successfully established to predict treatment response.The predicted treatment response also allowed for significant discrimination of Kaplan-Meier curves.Multivariate Cox regression identified six independent prognostic factors for overall survival,including male[hazard ratio(HR)=0.500,95%confidence interval(CI):0.260–0.962,P=0.038],alpha-fetoprotein(HR=
