Objective:To investigate the impacts of two herbal preparations for human immunodeficiency virus/aquired immune deficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS)patients,Shenling Fuzheng Capsule(参灵扶正胶囊,SLFZC)and qingdu Capsule(清毒胶囊,QDC),on the efficacy of highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART).Methods:HIV/AIDS patients met the criteria were all enrolled in a 1-year cohort study,in which patients receiving HAART alone were designated as Group A,those receiving HAART in combination with SLFZC were designated as Group B,and those receiving HAART in combination with QDC were designated as Group C,100 cases in each *** dose of SLFZC was 1.48 g(4 capsules),3 times daily,and QDC 1.56 g(4 capsules),3 times daily.T cell subsets,HIV RNA and HIV-1 drug resistance were detected at enrollment and 1 year after *** were followed up every 3 months,during which side-effects and other clinical data were ***:After 1-year treatment,the median increment in CD4 counts was 165.0,178.0 and 145.0 cells/μL for Group A,B and C,*** RNA was undetectable in 94%of patients in Group A,96%in Group B and 92%in Group *** were no differences regarding the increment in CD4 counts,HIV RNA and frequency of HIV-1 drug resistance *** of the 14 suspected side-effect symptoms,*** and dizziness,were lower in Groups B and C than in Group A(Plusion:SLFZC and QDC do not have a negative impact on immunological and virological response to HAART;however,these preparations are not as potent in reducing HAART-associated side-effects as anticipated.

Synthesis and Characterization of Carborane Bisphenol Resol Phenolic Resins with Ultrahigh Char Yield

Two carborane-containing resol phenolic resins（P1 and P2） with high boron content were synthesized via the reaction of carborane bisphenols（1 and 2） with formaldehyde in the presence of alkaline. HRMS results indicate that P1 is mainly composed of hydroxymethylated o-carborane bisphenols, the Mw of which was restrained around 500 due to the strong steric hindrance of o-carborane bisphenol. In contrast, the molecular weight of P2 was well regulated under various reaction conditions. The obtained resins were characterized with spectroscopic techniques including FTIR, 1H-NMR, ^13C-NMR, and 11B-NMR, which gave satisfactory results. TGA studies show that P2 shows char yield of 88.9% and 92.9% at 900 ℃ under nitrogen and air respectively. The imported carborane cage endows phenolic resin with ultrahigh char yield. Particularly, the char yield of the obtained carborane-containing phenolic resin under air is higher than that under nitrogen. FTIR and XRD confirm that the carborane cage could react with oxygen to form B2O3 at elevated temperatures, which postpones the thermal decomposition of phenolic resin and accounts for the high char yield.

An electrochemical method was used to examine Au surface absorption and passivation under the most commonly employed pH conditions in an alkaline Au leaching *** polarization at different pH values was obtained through the current step *** pH 10,no absorption layer was *** the pH was increased to 11,an absorption layer was formed through the Au electrode *** pH 12,the entire system could not be stabilized,even after long durations because of the thiourea oxidation and *** samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),and atomic force microscopy(AFM).AFM observations of the Au plating surface and SEM-EDS analyses for the Au-coated graphite surface indicated that a passivation membrane was formed on the Au surface after its use in the alkaline thiourea Au leaching ***-step leaching was used to confirm the conclusions drawn from the experimental *** twostage experimental results further confirmed the existence of a passivation membrane.

Ultraviolet(UV)radiation poses risks to both human health and *** response to the urgent demand for UV-shielding across various applications,extensive endeavors have been dedicated to developing UV-shielding materials spanning from wide-bandgap semiconductors to organo-inorganic composite ***,existing UV shielding materials,though suitable for daily use,cannot meet the demands of extreme *** this work,we incorporated CeO_(2)as a UV absorber into Y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics for *** effect of CeO_(2)concentration on the optical,mechanical,and thermal properties of Y_(2)O_(3)ceramics was systematically *** findings indicate that CeO_(2)serves not only as a UV absorber but also as an effective sintering aid for Y_(2)O_(3)transparent *** 5 at%Ce-doped Y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics exhibit the optimal optical quality,with in-line transmittance of~77%at 800 *** introduction of Ce shifted the UV cutoff edge of Y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics from 250 to 375 nm,which was attributed to the visible band absorption of Ce^(4+).This shift grants UV shielding capabilities to Y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics,resulting in 100%shielding for ultraviolet C(UVC,100-280 nm)and ultraviolet B(UVB,280-320 nm)and~95%shielding for ultraviolet A(UVA,320-400 nm).The service stability(optical properties)under various corrosive conditions(acid,alkali,UV irradiation,and high temperature)was investigated,confirming the excellent stability of this transparent ceramic UV-shielding material.A comparison of the performance parameters of transparent ceramics with those of traditional UV shielding materials such as glasses,films,and coatings was *** work provides innovative design concepts and an effective solution for UVshielding materials for extreme conditions.

Accurate and effective detection of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))is of great significance in physiological functions as well as industrial *** this paper,the rod-like NiO-Co_(3)O_(4)nanomaterials were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method for electrochemical detection of H_(2)O_(2).The characterization results indicated that the nanomaterials possess high porosity and excellent conductivity,and displayed good electrocatalysis activity at the same *** alkaline conditions,the as-prepared nanomaterials can catalyze the reduction of H_(2)O_(2)and realize the electron transfer between H_(2)O_(2)and the *** H_(2)O_(2)electrochemical sensor based on NiO-Co_(3)O_(4)nanomaterials exhibited a wide linear response(1-250 and 250-1200μmol/L),a low detection limit(0.1μmol/L)and a high sensitivity(5305.59μA/(mmol/L·cm^(2))(S/N=3)).In addition,the fabricated sensor showed high selectivity,good repeatability and high *** applications of the proposed sensor for H_(2)O_(2)detection in food samples were demonstrated and satisfactory results were obtained.

Experimental study on sulfur removal from ladle furnace refining slag in hot state by blowing Air

In view of the present problem of sulfur enrichment in the metallurgical recycling process of ladle furnace （LF） refining slag, a simple and efficient method of removing sulfur from this slag was proposed. The proposed method is compatible with current steelmaking processes. Sulfur removal from LF refining slag for SPHC steel （manufactured at a certain steel plant in China） by blowing air in the hot state was studied by using hot-state experiments in a laboratory. The FactSage software, a carbon/sulfur analyzer, and scanning electron micros- copy in conjunction with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to test and analyze the sulfur removal effect and to investigate factors influencing sulfur removal rate. The results show that sulfur ions in LF refining slag can be oxidized into SO2 by O2 at high tempera- ture by blowing air into molten slag; SO2 production was observed to reach a maximum with a small amount of blown O2 when the tem- perature exceeded 1350℃. At 1370℃ and 1400℃, experimental LF refining slag is in the liquid state and exhibits good fluidity; under these conditions, the sulfur removal effect by blowing air is greater than 90wt% after 60 min. High temperature and large air flow rate are benefi- cial for removing sulfur from LF refining slag; compared with air flow rate, temperature has a greater strongly influences on the sulfur re- moval.
