Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the most common digestive malignancy across the *** first-line treatments applied in the routine clinical setting include surgery,chemotherapy,radiotherapy,targeted therapy,and ***,resistance to therapy has been identified as the major clinical challenge that fails the treatment method,leading to recurrence and distant *** increasing number of studies have been attempting to explore the underlying mechanisms of the resistance of CRC cells to different therapies,which can be summarized into two aspects:(1)The intrinsic characters and adapted alterations of CRC cells before and during treatment that regulate the drug metabolism,drug transport,drug target,and the activation of signaling pathways;and(2)the suppressive features of the tumor microenvironment(TME).To combat the issue of therapeutic resistance,effective strategies are warranted with a focus on the restoration of CRC cells’sensitivity to specific treatments as well as reprogramming impressive TME into stimulatory *** date,nanotechnology seems promising with scope for improvement of drug mobility,treatment efficacy,and reduction of systemic *** instinctive advantages offered by nanomaterials enable the diversity of loading cargoes to increase drug concentration and targeting specificity,as well as offer a platform for trying the combination of different treatments to eventually prevent tumor recurrence,metastasis,and reversion of therapy *** present review intends to summarize the known mechanisms of CRC resistance to chemotherapy,radiotherapy,immunotherapy,and targeted therapy,as well as the process of *** have also emphasized the recent application of nanomaterials in combating therapeutic resistance and preventing metastasis either by combining with other treatment approaches or *** summary,nanomedicine is an emerging technology with potential for CRC treatment;hence,efforts should be devoted to targetin

High-throughput and simultaneous inertial separation of tumor cells and clusters from malignant effusions using spiral-contraction-expansion channels

Tumor cell clusters are regarded as critical factors in cancer pathophysiology,and increasing evidence of their higher treatment resistance and metastasis compared to single tumor cells has been ***,existing cell separation methods that are designed for single tumor cells cannot be used to simultaneously purify tumor cell *** address this problem,we demonstrated a microfluidic approach for the high-throughput,continuous-flow ternary separation of single tumor cells,tumor cell clusters,and WBCs from clinical pleural or abdominal effusions by coupling slanted spiral channels and periodic contraction-expansion *** first systematically explored the influence of particle size and flow rate on particle *** separation performance indicated that 94.0%of WBCs were removed and more than 97%of MDA-MB-231 tumor cells were recovered at a high flow rate of 3500µL/***,more than 90%of tumor cell clusters were effectively preserved after ***,we successfully applied our device for the ternary separation of single tumor cells,tumor cell clusters,and WBCs from different malignant effusions collected from patients with metastatic ***,our spiral-contraction-expansion device has potential as a sample pretreatment tool for the cytological diagnosis of malignant effusions.

The interface healing mechanism of fine-grained Ni-Co-based superalloy during hot-compression bonding(HCB)is *** HCB,the incompatibility of deformation between theγand the primary γ′leads to a large number of dislocation pairs(DP),stacking faults(SF),and micro-twins(MT)in the primary γ′.These defects act as fast channels for elemental diffusion,leading to supersaturation of the primary γ′and promoting the growth of the γ-*** the one hand,the primary γ′with a γ-shell moves towards the bonding interface due to anomalous yielding phenomena of the primary γ′and plastic flow during HCB *** increase in the number of defects leads to the growth of γ-γ′heterogeneous epitaxial recrystallization(HERX)grain with coherent structure at the bonding interface,which promotes the bulge of the interface grain boundaries(IGBs).On the other hand,the nucleation and growth of a necklace-like distribution of discontinuous dynamic recrystallization(DDRX)grain at the interface lead to the healing of *** the synergistic action of DDRX and HERX,the mechanical properties of Ni-Co-based superalloy joints through HCB achieve the same level as the base *** finding further enriches the theory of interface healing in HCB.

Cyclone pyrolyzer is a novel type of downer that combines centrifugal force field and double-layer cyclone *** on transfer behavior is helpful to optimize the pyrolyzer to meet the needs of *** this study,the Computational Particle Fluid Dynamics(CPFD)model is used to analyze the transfer behavior of binary particles,and finds that the swirl and reaction have a synergistic *** effect can increase the heating rate of the particles to the range of flash pyrolysis,and its mechanism lies in the flow field structure of the *** to the centrifugal force field,the particles gather to the near *** rapid swirl,which facilitates intense gas-solid heat transfer,leads to the rapid heating and pyrolysis of biomass *** the pyrolysis proceeds,the mass of the biomass particles becomes smaller and they are more easily affected by the gas flow in *** the action of gas flow,char particles serve as new heat carrier to form the inner cycle of particles,which strengthens the heating *** pyrolysis products are discharged from the exhaust port in time with the flow field of the pyrolyzer to achieve separation from the heat carrier and inhibit the occurrence of secondary reactions.

Changes in global land surface frozen ground and freeze-thaw processes during 1950-2020 based on ERA5-Land data

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(SH),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,SH and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,SH,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(prend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the SH(1.15 d per decade).

Light grazing alleviates aeolian erosion–deposition effects on microbial communities in a semi-arid grassland

Background Soil erosion affects the stability of terrestrial ecosystems and ecosystem services by directly or indirectly impacting the cycling of soil materials and energy and reducing the fertility of grassland soils. However, research on microbial adaptation to grazing and soil erosion is limited, particularly in relation to grassland ecosystem restora-tion. Here, we assess microbial communities subjected to simulated soil erosion and grazing in a semi-arid grassland of Inner Mongolia, *** No significant change was observed in soil variables. However, the structure of the soil microbial commu-nity underwent significant changes as a result of soil erosion and soil erosion plus grazing, leading to a significant increase in the relative abundance of Cyanobacteria(116.80% vs 116.38%). Wind erosion and deposition contributed to an increase in the network complexity of soil bacterial and fungal communities. However, much of this effect was alleviated by grazing. Simultaneously, aeolian processes and grazing regulate soil microbial community assembly, leading to inconsistent patterns of change in bacterial and fungal communities. Under wind erosion and deposi-tion, the relative contribution of deterministic processes(4.44% vs 31.11%) in bacterial communities increased, while the relative contribution of stochastic processes(2.23% vs 20%) in fungal communities reduced. Grazing resulted in a decrease in the relative contribution of deterministic processes(8.89%) in the bacterial community and an increase in the relative contribution of stochastic processes(8.89%) in the fungal *** This study presents a comprehensive investigation of the response of soil microbial communities to aeolian erosion–deposition and grazing in a semi-arid grassland.
