Three-dimensional finite element analysis with different internal fixation methods through the anterior approach

BACKGROUND With the modernization of society and transportation in the last decades in China,the incidence of high-energy trauma increased sharply in China,including that of acetabular *** To establish different finite element models for acetabular posterior column fractures involving the quadrilateral area of the *** The three-dimensional models of the normal and fractured pelvis and the five internal fixations were established using the computed tomography data of the pelvis of a living *** the vertebral body model was inserted in the way of origin matching and all cancellous bones were copied using the duplicated cancellous bone model as the subtractive entity,the Boolean operation was performed on the pelvis model to obtain the model of the complete pelvis cortical and cancellous *** In the standing position,the maximum stress was 46.21 *** the sitting position,the sacrum bore the simulated gravity load at the upper *** comparing the five fixations,there were no significant differences in the stress mean values among groups(sitting:P=0.9794;standing:P=0.9741).In terms of displacement,the average displacement of the internal iliac plate group was smaller than that of the spring plate group(P=0.002),and no differences were observed between the other pairs of groups(all P>0.05).In the standing position,there were no significant differences in the mean value of displacement among the groups(P=0.2985).It can be seen from the stress nephogram of the internal fixations in different positions that the stress of the internal fixation was mainly concentrated in the fracture *** There were no significant differences among the fixations for acetabular posterior column fractures involving the quadrilateral area of the acetabulum.

Enhancing m^(6)A modification in the motor cortex facilitates corticospinal tract remodeling after spinal cord injury

Spinal cord injury typically causes corticospinal tract disruption. Although the disrupted corticospinal tract can self-regenerate to a certain degree, the underlying mechanism of this process is still unclear. N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A) modifications are the most common form of epigenetic regulation at the RNA level and play an essential role in biological processes. However, whether m^(6)A modifications participate in corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury remains unknown. We found that expression of methyltransferase 14 protein(METTL14) in the locomotor cortex was high after spinal cord injury and accompanied by elevated m^(6)A levels. Knockdown of Mettl14 in the locomotor cortex was not favorable for corticospinal tract regeneration and neurological recovery after spinal cord injury. Through bioinformatics analysis and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, we found that METTL14 regulated Trib2 expression in an m^(6)A-regulated manner, thereby activating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and promoting corticospinal tract regeneration. Finally, we administered syringin, a stabilizer of METTL14, using molecular docking. Results confirmed that syringin can promote corticospinal tract regeneration and facilitate neurological recovery by stabilizing METTL14. Findings from this study reveal that m^(6)A modification is involved in the regulation of corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury.

Attitude control system design and on-orbit performance analysis of nano-satellite––‘‘Tian Tuo 1’’

＂Tian Tuo 1＂（TT-1） nano-satellite is the first single-board nano-satellite that was suc- cessfully launched in China. The main objective of TT-1 is technology demonstration and scientific measurements. The satellite carries out the significant exploration of single-board architecture fea- sibility validation, and it is tailored to the low-cost philosophy by adopting numerous commercial- off-the-shelf （COTS） components. The satellite is featured with three-axis stabilization control capability. A pitch bias momentum wheel and three magnetic coils are adopted as control actuators. The sun sensors, magnetometers and a three-axis gyro are employed as the measurement sensors. The quaternion estimator （QUEST） and unscented Kalman filter （UKF） method are adopted for the nano-satellite attitude determination. On-orbit data received by ground station is conducted to analysis the performance of attitude determination and control system （ADCS）. The results show that the design of ADCS for TT-1 is suitable, robust and feasible.

Acute central nervous system injuries,including ischemic stro ke,intracerebral hemorrhage,subarachnoid hemorrhage,traumatic brain injury,and spinal co rd injury,are a major global health *** optimal therapies and improving the long-term neurological functions of patients with acute central nervous system injuries are urgent *** are susceptible to damage after acute central nervous system injury,and this leads to the release of toxic levels of reactive oxygen species,which induce cell ***,a selective form of autophagy,is crucial in eliminating redundant or damaged mitochondria during these *** evidence has highlighted the significant role of mitophagy in acute central nervous system *** this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of the process,classification,and related mechanisms of *** also highlight the recent developments in research into the role of mitophagy in various acute central nervous system injuries and drug therapies that regulate *** the final section of this review,we emphasize the potential for treating these disorders by focusing on mitophagy and suggest future research paths in this area.

The study by Yang et al presents a comprehensive investigation into the thera-peutic potential of curcumin for gastric cancer(GC).Using network pharma-cology,the researchers identified 48 curcumin-related genes,31 of which overlap with GC *** genes,including ESR1,EGFR,CYP3A4,MAPK14,CYP1A2,and CYP2B6,are linked to poor survival in GC *** docking con-firmed strong binding affinity of curcumin to these *** vitro experiments demonstrated that curcumin effectively inhibits the growth and proliferation of BGC-823,suggesting its therapeutic potential in GC through multiple targets and pathways.

Engineering Photocleavable Protein-decorated Hydrogels to Regulate Cell Adhesion and Migration

Cell adhesion and migration play essential roles in tissue development and maintenance, and abnormal cell migration is involved in life-threatening diseases, including vascular disease, tumor formation, and metastasis. The advances in hydrogel-based 3D cell culture development facilitated the investigation of cell motility behavior, including cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion and cell migration in a microenvironment more related to in vivo situations. Establishing advanced methods for these in vitro studies is thus necessary. Photo-sensitive proteins show advantages in remote and non-invasive regulation of hydrogels’ properties, and thus are of great potential in regulating 3D cultured cells’ behavior. In the presented study, we engineered photocleavable protein(PhoCl)-decorated hydrogels to regulate cell adhesion and migration of MDA-MB-231. The integrin-binding motif RGD was fused to the PhoCl and was decorated on the hydrogel. After being exposed to light at 405 nm, the PhoCl was cleaved and the RGD motif was released, resulting in detachment of the binding cells. The regulatory effect of the light illumination showed a time-dependent and cell density-dependent manner. Furthermore, the elimination of RGD by patterned light exposure completely suspended the cell migration to the corresponding region, suggesting a controllable regulation of the cell migration direction.

In Vitro Biocompatibility of MC3T3-E1 Osteoblast-like Cells on Arg-Gly-Asp Acid Peptides Immobilized Graphite-like Carbon Coating on Carbon/Carbon Composites

Carbon/carbon （C/C） composites were deposited with graphite-like carbon （GLC） coating, and then, Arg-Gly- Asp acid （RGD） peptides were successfully immobilized onto the functionalized GLC coating. GLC coating was utilized to prevent carbon particles releasing and create a uniform surface condition for C/C composites. RGD peptides were utilized to improve biocompatibility of GLC coating. Surface chemical characterizations of functionalized GLC coating were detected by contact angle measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectra. Optical morphology of GLC coatings was observed by confocal laser scanning microscopy. In vitro biological performance was determined using samples seeded with MC3T3-E1 osteoblast-like cells and cultured for 1 week. Surface characterizations and morphological analysis indicated that C/C composites were covered by a dense and uniform GLC coating. Contact angle of GLC coating was reduced to 27.2° when it was functionalized by H202 oxidation at 40 ℃ for 1 h. In vitro cytological test showed that the RGD peptides immobilized GLC coating had a significant improvement in biocompatibility. It was suggested that RGD peptides provided GLC coating with a bioactive surface to improve cell adhesion and proliferation on C/C composites.

Sequential Inverse Optimal Control of Discrete-Time Systems

This paper presents a novel sequential inverse optimal control(SIOC)method for discrete-time systems,which calculates the unknown weight vectors of the cost function in real time using the input and output of an optimally controlled discrete-time *** proposed method overcomes the limitations of previous approaches by eliminating the need for the invertible Jacobian *** calculates the possible-solution spaces and their intersections sequentially until the dimension of the intersection space decreases to *** remaining one-dimensional vector of the possible-solution space’s intersection represents the SIOC *** paper presents clear conditions for convergence and addresses the issue of noisy data by clarifying the conditions for the singular values of the matrices that relate to the possible-solution *** effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation results.
