Co-rich Nd-Fe-B nanocomposite ribbons with Tb substituted have been fabricated by single roller melt spinning technique of Nd4-xTbxFe83.5Co5Cu0.5Nb1B6 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1) alloys in an argon (Ar) atmosphere at a circumferential speed of 40 m/s. According to the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) traces the nanocomposite samples have been annealed at different temperatures like 675°C, 687°C, 700°C, 712°C and 725°C for 10 min. Crystallization behavior was studied by X-ray diffraction in which it was found that the XRD patterns are characterized by broad diffused pattern which demonstrate the amorphous state of materials. The ribbon samples were also characterized by vibration sample magnetometer (VSM) and Mössbauer spectroscopy at as-cast and annealed condition. Co-rich and Tb substitution has significantly enhanced the value of coercivity (Hc) and maximum energy product (BH)max. Highest value of Hc and (BH)max has been obtained as 2.36 kOe and 6.11 MGOe for the sample annealed at 700°C for 10 min with higher concentration of Tb. The M-H hysteresis loops show extremely soft natures which do not possess any area. We have found reduced remanent ratio (Mr/Ms) up to 0.49 at optimal annealing temperature 700°C. However, with the annealing of the samples in the above mentioned temperature, evolution of large coercivity was observed due to the formation of exchange couple hard and soft nanocrystal composites. We have investigated the variation of Curie temperature (Tc) with annealing temperature of the melt spun ribbon samples. Mossbauer spectroscopy was carried out to study the hyperfine parameters such as hyperfine field, hyperfine field distribution for full width half maximum (FWHM) and isomer shift of Fe species of these two phases.

Mango fruits(***)were treated with 2,4-D(50,l00 ppm)and Cycocel(250,500 ppm)during two *** were subjected to biochemical analyses upto 16th days of storage after 4 days interval.2,4-D(50 ppm)and Cycocel(500 ppm)caused continuous increase in total soluble solids and total sugars through out storage period while a decline was noticed in other treatments for these parameters.2,4-D(50 ppm)helped in retension of more acidity and vitamin C compared to all other treatments during storage period.

Combined effect of microwave and hydrothermal treatment on anti-nutritional factors,antioxidant potential and bioactive compounds of plum(Prunus domestica L.)kernels

The effect of microwave heating(450 W for 6 min),hydrothermal treatment(45℃ for 6,9,12 h)and their combination on antioxidant potential,anti-nutritional factors,and phenolic compounds of plum kernels were *** and hydrocyanic acid content were reduced to undetectable amounts,while the phytic acid and tannins were reduced to 89.50 and 84.71%,respectively,when combined effects of microwave and hydrothermal(45℃ for 12 h)treatments were *** activity and phenolic content were higher in microwave treated samples than hydrothermal and combined *** results revealed that combined treated samples have considerable amounts of phenolic compounds,particularly gallic acid,chlorogenic acid,(+)-catechin,syringic acid,rutin,3,4-dihydroxy benzoic acid,tannic acid,and quercetin.

Clinical features of hepatopulmonary syndrome in cirrhotic patients

AIM： To evaluate the frequency, clinical and paraclinical features of hepatopulmonary syndrome （HPS） and to determine their predictive values in diagnosis of this syndrome in patients in Iran. METHODS： Fifty four cirrhotic patients underwent contrast enhanced echocardiography to detect intrapulmonary and intracardiac shunts by two cardiologists. Arterial blood oxygen, 02 gradient （A-a） and orthodoxy were measured by arterial blood gas （ABG） test. The patients positive for diagnostic criteria of HPS were defined as clinical HPS cases and those manifesting the intrapulmonary arterial dilation but no other criteria （arterial blood hypoxemia） were defined as IHPS cases. HPS frequency, sensitivity, positive and negative predictive values of clinical and paraclinical features were studied. RESULTS： Ten （18.5%） and seven （13%） cases had clinical and subclinical HPS, respectively. The most common etiology was hepatitis B. Dyspnea （100%） and cyanosis （90%） were the most prevalent clinical features. Dyspnea and clubbing were the/host sensitive and specific clinical features respectively. No significant relationship was found between HPS and splenomegaly, ascites, edema, jaundice, oliguria, and collateral veins. HPS was more prevalent in hepatitis B. PaO2〈 70 and arterial-alveolar gradient had the highest sensitivity in HPS patients. Orthodoxy specificity was 100%. CONCLUSION： Clubbing with positive predictive value （PPV） of 75% and dyspnea with negative predictive value （NPV） of 75% are the best clinical factors in diagnosis of HPS syndrome. PaO2〈70 and P （A-a） 02〉 30 and their sum, are the most valuable negative and positive predictive values in HPS patients.

Advances in reduction of NO_x and N_2O emission formation in an oxy-fired fluidized bed boiler

Fossil fuel combustion is one of the major means to meet the mounting global energy demand. However, the increasing NO_x and N_2 O emissions arising from fossil fuel combustion process have hazardous effects. Thus, mitigating these gases is vital to attain a sustainable environment. Interestingly, oxy-fuel combustion in fluidized bed for carbon capture and minimized NO_x emissions is strongly sustainable compare to the other approaches. It was assessed that NO_x formation and fuel-N conversion have significant limitation under oxy-fluidized bed compared to air mode and the mechanism of NO_x formation is still deficient and requires further development. In addition, this review paper discussed the potential of primary measure as low emission process with others supplementary techniques for feasible NO_x reduction. The influences of combustion mode, operating parameters, and reduction techniques such as flue gas recirculation, oxygen staging, biomass co-firing, catalyst, influence of fluidized bed design and structure, decoupling combustion and their merges are respectively evaluated. Findings show that significant minimization of NO_x emission can be achieved through combination of primary and secondary reduction techniques.

Glacier-Glacial Lake Interactions and Glacial Lake Development in the Central Himalaya,India(1994–2017)

Despite several regional glacier and glacier lake inventories, the relationship between receding glacier, glacial lake evolution(glacial-lake interactions) and their sensitivity to different forcing factors have not been properly understood yet. To better understand these processes, we used satellite images collected in 1994, 2015 and 2017 to monitor the spatially-explicit evolution of glacial lakes and glacier changes. The results show a total of 1 353 glacial lakes covering an area of 7.96 km;in the year 2015. Out of these, a total of 137 glacial lakes having an area of >0.01 km;and located within 2 km periphery of mother glacier have been selected for the monitoring of spatial development between 1994 and 2017. We found an increase in the total lake area from ~4.9 to ~7.73 km;between 1994 and 2017,corresponding to an overall expansion of ~57%. The total area covered by the glaciers associated with these lakes reduced from ~365 km;in 1994 to ~358 km^(2) in 2017, accounting for a glacier loss of ~7 km^(2) and corresponding to ~1.92% reduction. Our study results are in agreement with global glacier behavior, revealing a rapid glacier recession and accelerated glacial lake expansion under an unprecedented climate change scenario. In addition, the results suggest a significant reduction in the glacier area and a close relationship between the glacier melting and lake changes.

Bioelectricity from Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Organic Solid Wastes and Sewage Sludge Using Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs)

Recently microbial fuel cells (MFCs) have been considered as an alternative power generation technique by utilizing organic wastes. In this study, an experiment was carried out to generate bioelectricity from co-digestion of organic waste (kitchen waste) and sewage sludge as a waste management option using microbial fuel cell (MFC) in anaerobic process. A total of five samples with different sludge-waste ratio were used with zinc (Zn) and cupper (Cu) as cell electrodes for the test. The trends of voltage generation were different for each sample in cells such as 350 mV, 263 mV, 416 mV maximum voltage were measured from sample I, II and III respectively. It was observed that the MFC with sewage sludge showed the higher values (around 960 mV) of voltages with time whereas 918 mV obtained with organic waste. Precisely comparing cases with varying the organic waste and sewage sludge ratio helps to find the best bioelectricity generation option. Using MFCs can be appeared as the solution of electricity scarcity along the world as an efficient and eco-friendly manner as well as organic solid waste and sewage sludge management.

Efficacy of Folinic Acid in Comparison to Folic Acid for Reducing Side Effects of Methotrexate in Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Background: Methotrexate (MTX) is the most effective and commonly used disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug in the management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Several patients develop side effects, which may lead to low quality of life and non-compliance to MTX. To reduce MTX-induced side effects, folic acid supplementation is prescribed by most rheumatologists. Even after that, some patients have symptoms while receiving MTX. Objectives: To assess the efficacy of folinic acid in comparison to folic acid for reducing the side effects of MTX in JIA patients. Material and methods: In this prospective observational study, newly diagnosed cases of JIA who would be getting MTX were included by purposive sampling. Data were collected using a predesigned questionnaire. Among 40 patients, 20 received folinic acid (Group A), and 20 received folic acid (Group B). Disease activity levels were assessed by JADAS-27 (Juvenile Arthritis Disease Activity Score). Contents from the MISS (MTX Intolerance severity score) questionnaire were used to assess the side effects. All patients were evaluated at baseline, 6th, and 12th weeks. Results: There were significant differences in the frequency of MTX-related adverse events between folinic acid (Group A) and folic acid (Group B). Group A patients only had nausea (10% and 15% in the 6th & 12th week respectively) and vomiting (5% at both follow-ups). On the other hand, in addition to nausea (70% and 95% in the 6th & 12th week) and vomiting (20% and 90% in the 6th & 12th week), folic acid group patients had restlessness, crying, and irritability. Self-discontinuation of MTX was present in the folic acid group (5% & 10% in the 6th & 12th week). Improvement of disease activity was more in the folinic acid group. Conclusion: The folinic acid group had significantly fewer side effects. Improvement of disease activity was more and compliance was also better among them.
