Microtubule acetylation dyshomeostasis in Parkinson’s disease

The inter-neuronal communication occurring in extensively branched neuronal cells is achieved primarily through the microtubule(MT)-mediated axonal transport *** mechanistically regulated system delivers cargos(proteins,mRNAs and organelles such as mitochondria)back and forth from the soma to the *** proteins like kinesins and dynein mechanistically regulate polarized anterograde(from the soma to the synapse)and retrograde(from the synapse to the soma)commute of the cargos,*** axonal transport of such cargos is achieved by altering the microtubule stability via post-translational modifications(PTMs)ofα-andβ-tubulin heterodimers,core components constructing the *** within the lumen of MTs,k40 acetylation ofα-tubulin viaα-tubulin acetyl transferase and its subsequent deacetylation by HDAC6 and SIRT2 are widely scrutinized PTMs that make the MTs highly flexible,which in turn promotes their *** movement of various motor proteins,including kinesin-1(responsible for axonal mitochondrial commute),is enhanced by this PTM,and dyshomeostasis of neuronal MT acetylation has been observed in a variety of neurodegenerative conditions,including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease(PD).PD is the second most common neurodegenerative condition and is closely associated with impaired MT dynamics and deregulated tubulin acetylation *** the relationship between status of MT acetylation and progression of PD pathogenesis has become a chicken-and-egg question,our review aims to provide insights into the MT-mediated axonal commute of mitochondria and dyshomeostasis of MT acetylation in *** enzymatic regulators of MT acetylation along with their synthetic modulators have also been briefly *** towards a tubulin-based therapy that enhances MT acetylation could serve as a disease-modifying treatment in neurological conditions that lack it.

Comparative Analysis of Splice Site Regions by Information Content

We have applied concepts from information theory for a comparative analysis of donor （gt） and acceptor （ag） splice site regions in the genes of five different organisms by calculating their mutual information content （relative entropy） over a selected block of nucleotides. A similar pattern that the information content decreases as the block size increases was observed for both regions in all the organisms studied. This result suggests that the information required for splicing might be contained in the consensus of -6-8 nt at both regions. We assume from our study that even though the nucleotides are showing some degrees of conservation in the flanking regions of the splice sites, certain level of variability is still tolerated, which leads the splicing process to occur normally even if the extent of base pairing is not fully satisfied. We also suggest that this variability can be compensated by recognizing different splice sites with different spliceosomal factors.

Synthesis and evaluation of novel analogues of mangiferin as potent antipyretic

Objective:To screen different analogues of mangiferin pharmacologically for antipyretic activity. Methods:The naturally occurring xanthone glycoside mangiferin was isolated by column chromatography from the elhanolic extract of stem bark of Mangifera *** was further converted to 5-(N-phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-chlorophenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-2-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-methoxy phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N,N-diphenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-α-napthylamino methyleno) mangiferin and 5-(N-4-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin *** synthesized compounds were further screened for antipyretic activity along with mangiferin at a dose level of 100 and 200 tng/*** and its analogues were characterized by melting point and R_f value determination and through spectral technique like UV,IR,and NMR spectral ***:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin as well as all analogues was found to be more significant in at higher dose ie.200 mg/kg which was depicted thmugh a decrease in rectal temperature up to 3 ***:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin and its analogues may be attributed to inhibition in synthesis of TNF-αand anti-oxidant activity associated with amelioration of inflammatory actions of cytokines.

Economic Analysis of a Large UASB Reactor Producing Biogas from Baggase Wash Water

This paper concerns with the treatment of bagasse wash water, which is generated after washing the stored bagasse before its use in the paper manufacture. The bagasse wash water, treated earlier in open lagoons, is now treated by the anaerobic process using UASB reactor. This study, based upon an operating unit, shows that the UASB reactor reduces COD of wash water by 85% - 90%, and results in significant emission reductions. Economic analysis carried out by using financial indicators such as DSCR, Payback period and IRR reveals very attractive rate of returns and thus, greatly reduces the risks in financing such projects by the financial institutions.

Potential of conservation tillage and altered land configuration to improve soil properties,carbon sequestration and productivity of maize based cropping system in eastern Himalayas,India

Poor soil properties especially low soil organic carbon(SOC)and nutrient and water retention capacities are major concern for sustainable agriculture in *** experiments were conducted to assess the effects of six combinations of tillage[conventional tillage(CT)and no-till(nt)]and land configurations[flat bed planting(FB),ridge and furrow planting(RF),and raised bed planting(RB)]on productivity and carbon(C)-sequestration potential of maize[(Zea mays L.)for green-cob in summer]-maize(for grains in rainy season)-field pea[(Pisum sativum *** winter]cropping system under humid mildtropical climate of Tripura,*** maize under nt-FB in 2012 and nt-RF in 2013 produced significantly higher green cob yield than that under ***,in rainy season,CT produced higher maize grain yield than nt *** pea seed yield was significantly the highest under *** two cropping cycles,nt systems had higher available N,P,k and 18.6e31.4%higher soil moisture content after rainy season maize than CT *** highest SOC-stock(0e30 cm)was observed under nt-FB,whereas,SOC-sequestration rate was maximum under nt-RB(0.85 Mg ha1 year1).Therefore,nt based systems can enhance the productivity and improve SOC-sequestration in cultivated soils of eastern ***,study recommended adoption of nt-RB/nt-FB to raise maize-maize-field pea system for improving productivity,improving C-sequestration and soil properties in the eastern Himalayas and similar eco-regions elsewhere.

Molecular Basis of Hypertension: A Systematic Review on the Role of Metal Ions for Increase Prevalence of Hypertension in India

Metal ions played critical role in regulation of hypertension (HT) or blood pressure (BP). The physiological roles of metals commonly present in the diet in the etiology of HT need to be reviewed as recent survey on the metal status in the various vegetable and meat food stuffs commonly consumed by living population in India revealed an imbalance in its level. Higher levels of zinc (Zn) in diet is observed to increase the BP by various mechanisms including oxidative stress through decreased activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme, increasing levels of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and aldosterone and by causing acidification due to change in the levels of H+, Na+, k+ and Ca2+ ions in the blood. High level of copper (Cu) and low level of magnesium (Mg) and manganese (Mn) in the blood is also associated with HT through various mechanisms like elevation of chronic inflammation, accelerating Na+ pump of cell membrane and by disturbing lipid metabolism in the body. An epidemiological study conducted in the population of Manipur, India consuming Zn rich diet reveals significant disparities in distribution of the metals in the blood of the hypertensive (HTS) patients as compared to the normotensives (nt) control and thus indicates that the change in body metal homeostasis may be a triggering factor for the development of HT in this population and corroborate the reports of published literatures. The role of the metals variations in the body and their possible involvement in HT is reviewed and discussed in this paper.

目的：描述曾行培养角膜缘上皮移植的患者再行穿透性角膜移植（PkP）的早期结果。方法：对因化学烧伤造成角膜缘干细胞缺乏而行培养的角膜缘上皮移植后又进行穿透性角膜移植术的患者有关人口统计学、原发病因、角膜缘移植类型、眼表稳定性、视力、移植片透明度和并发症方面的资料进行回顾和复习。对受体角膜片组织病理学特征进行研究，重点观察上皮状态。结果：在患有角膜缘干细胞缺乏而进行培养的角膜缘上皮移植术的125例患者中，15例接受了穿透性角膜移植术（PkP）。角膜缘上皮移植术后（自体移植组n=11，同种异体移植组n=4）平均间隔时间为7个月（范围2—12个月）。同种异体移植组的4例患者均接受了免疫抑制疗法。15只眼中14只眼（93％）获得了含有稳定的角膜上皮的健全的角膜植片。15只眼中14只眼术前最佳矫正视力低于20／200。PkP后平均随访8．3±5．0个月，8只眼最佳矫正视力高于20／60，5只眼最佳矫正视力20／200至20／60。2只眼低于20／200。15只眼中3只眼发生异体角膜植片的排斥反应但被成功治疗。1只眼发生植片排斥的同时发生了青光眼。同种异体角膜缘上皮移植无一例显示排斥表现。结论：培养的角膜缘上皮移植后，在形成稳定的眼表后行PkP的早期结果是良好的。为了避免排斥反应，培养的同种异体角膜缘上皮移植者行充分的免疫抑制治疗是必需的。角膜同种异体移植能够单独排斥同种异体角膜缘移植物。
