Comparison of visual quality in cataract patients with low astigmatism after ART2 or ReSTOR intraocular lens implantation

AIM: To compare visual quality in cataract patients with low corneal astigmatism who underwent intraocular lens(IOL) implantation, and evaluate effects of low levels of astigmatism on visual outcomes in multifocal pseudophakic ***: This retrospective review of clinical records comprised patients with preoperative regular corneal astigmatism of 0.75-1.0 diopters(D) with-the-rule or 0.5-0.75 D against-the-rule who had uneventful cataract surgery and AcrySof IQ ReSTOR Toric-2 IOL(ART2) or AcrySof IQ ReSTOR IOL(ReSTOR) implantation. Retrospective data collection included postoperative ART2 axis rotation, uncorrected astigmatism, uncorrected entire visual acuities, distance corrected entire visual acuities, average modulation transfer function(aMTF), Strehl ratio(SR), spectacle independence, and patient satisfaction between ***: Mean ART2 axis rotation was 3.12°±0.70°. No secondary surgery was required to realign IOL axis. Residual astigmatism values were-0.18±0.07 D and-0.91±0.25 D in groups ART2 and ReSTOR(P<0.05). Three months postoperatively, the mean uncorrected distant, intermediate, and near visual acuities of group A were 0.01±0.05, 0.05±0.07, 0.02±0.07 logMAR, respectively; these were better than those of group R, which were 0.08±0.06, 0.15±0.12, and 0.09±0.08 logMAR, respectively(P<0.05). aMTF, SR, and spectacle independence rates were not significantly different. All patients were satisfied with postoperative ***: ART2 is more suitable than ReSTOR for cataract patients with regular corneal astigmatism 0.75-1.0 D with-the-rule or 0.5-0.75 D against-the-rule.

Effect of terahertz pulse on gene expression in human eye cells

In recent years, the advances in terahertz applications have stimulated interest in the biological effects associated with this frequency range. We study the gene expression profile in three types of cells exposed to terahertz radiation,i.e., human ARPE-19 retinal pigment epithelial cells, simian virus 40-transformed human corneal epithelial cells, and human MIO-M1 Müller cells. We find that the gene expression in response to heat shock is unaffected, indicating that the minimum temperature increases under controlled environment. The transcriptome sequencing survey demonstrates that 6-hour irradiation with a broadband terahertz source results in specific change in gene expression and also the biological functions that are closely related to these genes. Our results imply that the effect of terahertz radiation on gene expression can last over 15 hours and depends on the type of cell.

The characterization of protein lactylation in relation to cardiac metabolic reprogramming in neonatal mouse hearts

In mammals,the neonatal heart can regenerate upon injury within a short time after birth,while adults lose this *** reprogramming has been demonstrated to be critical for cardiomyocyte proliferation in the neonatal ***,we reveal that cardiac metabolic reprogramming could be regulated by altering global protein *** performing 4D label-free proteomics and lysine lactylation(Kla)omics analyses in mouse hearts at postnatal days 1,5,and 7,2297 Kla sites from 980 proteins are identified,among which 1262 Kla sites from 409 proteins are *** clustering analysis reveals that the proteins with altered Kla sites are mainly involved in metabolic *** expression and Kla levels of proteins in glycolysis show a positive correlation while a negative correlation in fatty acid ***,we verify the Kla levels of several differentially modified proteins,including ACAT1,ACADL,ACADVL,PFKM,PKM,and ***,our study reports a comprehensive Kla map in the neonatal mouse heart,which will help to understand the regulatory network of metabolic reprogramming and cardiac regeneration.

A mixed Nash equilibrium solution for visibility-based pursuit-evasion game with multiple obstacles

This study primarily investigates a visibility-based pursuitevasion game with multiple obstacles. The pursuer aims to maintain surveillance over the evader as long as possible, while the evader's objective is to escape the pursuer's surveillance as quickly as possible. We use the explicit strategy method to analyze the winning conditions and optimal strategy of the player in the case of corner obstacles and propose a 'Present-Future-Past'(PFP) loop structure to extend the strategy to the case of multiple obstacles.

To tackle emerging power system small-signal stability problems such as wideband oscillations induced by the large-scale integration of renewable energy and power electronics,it is crucial to review and compare existing small-signal stability analysis *** this basis,guidance can be provided on determining suitable analysis methods to solve relevant small-signal stability problems in power electronics-dominated power systems(PEDPSs).Various mature methods have been developed to analyze the small-signal stability of PEDPSs,including eigenvalue-based methods,Routh stability criterion,Nyquist/Bode plot based methods,passivity-based methods,positive-net-damping method,lumped impedance-based methods,bifurcation-based methods,*** this paper,the application conditions,advantages,and limitations of these criteria in identifying oscillation frequencies and stability margins are reviewed and compared to reveal and explain connections and discrepancies among ***,efforts are devoted to mathematically proving the equivalence between these small-signal stability ***,the performance of these criteria is demonstrated and compared in a 4-machine 2-area power system with a wind farm and an IEEE 39-bus power system with 3 wind farms.

Studies have shown that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)may be associated with sleep *** order to explore the explicit relationship between the two,we systematically reviewed the effects of sleep disorders,especially obstructive sleep apnea(OSA),on the incidence of NAFLD,and analyzed the possible mechanisms after adjusting for confounding *** is independently associated with sleep *** sleep disorders may be the cause of the onset and aggravation of *** excessive or insufficient sleep duration,poor sleep quality,insomnia,sleep-wake disorders,and OSA may increase the incidence of *** that some research suggests a unidirectional causal link between the two,specifically,the onset of NAFLD is identified as a result of changes in sleep characteristics,and the reverse relationship does not hold ***,there is still a lack of specific research elucidating the reasons behind the higher risk of developing sleep disorders in individuals with *** research is needed to establish a clear relationship between NAFLD and sleep *** will lay the groundwork for earlier identification of potential patients,which is crucial for earlier monitoring,diagnosis,effective prevention,and treatment of NAFLD.
