Geological reports are a significant accomplishment for geologists involved in geological investigations and scientific research as they contain rich data and textual *** the rapid development of science and technology,a large number of textual reports have accumulated in the field of ***,many non-hot topics and non-English speaking regions are neglected in mainstream geoscience databases for geological information mining,making it more challenging for some researchers to extract necessary information from these *** Language Processing(NLP)has obvious advantages in processing large amounts of textual *** objective of this paper is to identify geological named entities from Chinese geological texts using NLP *** propose the RoBERTa-Prompt-Tuning-NER method,which leverages the concept of Prompt Learning and requires only a small amount of annotated data to train superior models for recognizing geological named entities in low-resource dataset *** RoBERTa layer captures context-based information and longer-distance dependencies through dynamic word ***,we conducted experiments on the constructed Geological Named Entity Recognition(GNER)*** experimental results show that the proposed model achieves the highest F1 score of 80.64%among the four baseline algorithms,demonstrating the reliability and robustness of using the model for Named Entity Recognition of geological texts.

Spatiotemporal drivers of urban water pollution:Assessment of 102 cities across the Yangtze River Basin

Effective management of large basins necessitates pinpointing the spatial and temporal drivers of primary index exceedances and urban risk factors,offering crucial insights for basin ***,comprehensive examinations of multiple pollutants within the Yangtze River Basin remain *** we introduce a pollution inventory for urban clusters surrounding the Yangtze River Basin,analyzing water quality data from 102 cities during *** assessed the exceedance rates for six pivotal indicators:dissolved oxygen(DO),ammonia nitrogen(NH_(3)-N),chemical oxygen demand(COD),biochemical oxygen demand(BOD),total phosphorus(TP),and the permanganate index(COD_(Mn))for each *** random forest regression and SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP)analyses,we identified the spatiotemporal factors influencing these key *** results highlight agricultural activities as the primary contributors to the exceedance of all six indicators,thus pinpointing them as the leading pollution source in the ***,forest coverage,livestock farming,chemical and pharmaceutical sectors,along with meteorological elements like precipitation and temperature,significantly impacted various indicators'***,we delineate five core urban risk components through principal component analysis,which are(1)anthropogenic and industrial activities,(2)agricultural practices and forest extent,(3)climatic variables,(4)livestock rearing,and(5)principal polluting *** cities were subsequently evaluated and categorized based on these risk components,incorporating policy interventions and administrative performance within each *** comprehensive analysis advocates for a customized strategy in addressing the discerned risk factors,especially for cities presenting elevated risk levels.

LC-MS-based Metabolomics in Traditional Chinese Medicines Research: Personal Experiences

LC-MS-based metabolomics has being widely used in traditional Chinese medicines （TCMs） research due to the great coverage of mass ranges, high sensitivity to detect metabolites, and no need of sample derivatization. Herein, we reviewed our research on the applications of LC-MS-based metabolomics in TCMs research over the past decade in the following aspects： herbal authentication, determination of herb harvest time, chemical transformation of herbs during post-harvest handlings （sulfurfumigation and drying）, discrimination of raw and processed herbs, chemical transformation of TCMs during preparation, screening endogenous toxic compounds in TCMs, unveiling synergistic mechanisms between small molecules （such as saponins） and polysaccharides in TCMs, revealing synergistic actions of TCMs with chemical drugs, which demonstrated that metabolomics is a superior strategy in TCMs research concerning the holistic perspectives.

Objective Studies on the relationship between iodine,vitamin A(VA),and vitamin D(VD)and thyroid function are *** study aimed to analyze iodine and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)status and their possible relationships with VA,VD,and other factors in postpartum *** A total of 1,311 mothers(896 lactating and 415 non-lactating)from Hebei,Zhejiang,and Guangxi provinces were included in this *** urinary iodine concentration(UIC),TSH,VA,and VD were *** The median UIC of total and lactating participants were 142.00µg/L and 139.95µg/L,*** median TSH,VA,and VD levels in all the participants were 1.89 mIU/L,0.44μg/mL,and 24.04 ng/mL,*** differences in the UIC were found between lactating and non-lactating *** and TSH levels were significantly different among the three *** rural UIC was higher than the urban *** mothers had a higher UIC and a higher prevalence of excessive *** UICs and TSHs levels were observed in both the VD deficiency and insufficiency groups than in the VD-sufficient *** adjustment,no linear correlation was observed between UIC and VA/*** interaction was found between vitamins A/D and UIC on TSH *** The mothers in the present study had no iodine ***,area type,BMI,and VD may be related to the iodine status or TSH levels.

TransCell:In Silico Characterization of Genomic Landscape and Cellular Responses by Deep Transfer Learning

Gene expression profiling of new or modified cell lines becomes routine today;however,obtaining comprehensive molecular characterization and cellular responses for a variety of cell lines,including those derived from underrepresented groups,is not trivial when resources are *** gene expression to predict other measurements has been actively explored;however,systematic investigation of its predictive power in various measurements has not been well ***,we evaluated commonly used machine learning methods and presented TransCell,a two-step deep transfer learning framework that utilized the knowledge derived from pan-cancer tumor samples to predict molecular features and *** these models,TransCell had the best performance in predicting metabolite,gene effect score(or genetic dependency),and drug sensitivity,and had comparable performance in predicting mutation,copy number variation,and protein ***,TransCell improved the performance by over 50%in drug sensitivity prediction and achieved a correlation of 0.7 in gene effect score ***,predicted drug sensitivities revealed potential repurposing candidates for new 100 pediatric cancer cell lines,and predicted gene effect scores reflected BRAF resistance in melanoma cell ***,we investigated the predictive power of gene expression in six molecular measurement types and developed a web portal(http://***/transcell/)that enables the prediction of 352,000 genomic and cellular response features solely from gene expression profiles.

Objective Human adenovirus(HAdV)infection is common and can develop to serious conditions with high mortality,yet the mechanism of HAdV infection remains *** the present study,the serum metabolite profiles of HAdV-7-infected patients with pneumonia or upper respiratory tract infection(URTI)were *** In total,35 patients were enrolled in the study following an outbreak of HAdV-7 in the army,of whom 14 had pneumonia and 21 had *** samples were collected at the acute stage and at the recovery stage and were analyzed by untargeted *** Over 90% of the differential metabolites identified between the pneumonia patients and URTI patients were lipids and lipid-like molecules,including glycerophospholipids,fatty acyls,and *** metabolic pathways that were significantly enriched were primarily the lipid metabolism pathways,including sphingolipid metabolism,glycerophospholipid metabolism,and linoleic acid *** sphingolipid metabolism was identified as a significantly differential pathway between the pneumonia patients and URTI patients and between the acute and recovery stages for the pneumonia patients,but not between the acute and recovery stages for the URTI *** and lactosylceramide,involved in sphingolipid metabolism,were significantly higher in the pneumonia patients than in the URTI patients with good discrimination abilities[area under curve(AUC)0.742 and 0.716,respectively;combination AUC 0.801].Conclusion Our results suggested that HAdV modulated lipid metabolism for both the patients with URTI and pneumonia,especially the sphingolipid metabolism involving ceramide and lactosylceramide,which might thus be a potential intervention target in the treatment of HAdV infection.
