Identification of Newly Diagnosed Diabetes and Prediabetes Using Fasting Plasma Glucose and Urinary Glucose in a Chinese Population： A Multicenter Cross-Sectional Study

Background： Although fasting plasma glucose （FPG） has been highly recommended as the sole test for diabetes screening, the efficacy of FPG alone for diabetes screening is potentially limited due to its low sensitivity. The aim of this study was to improve the efficacy of FPG for diabetes screening using urinary glucose （UG）. Methods： This study was initiated on November 12, 2015, and ended on June 28, 2016. A representative sample of individuals aged between 18 and 65 years, with no history of diabetes, from 6 cities in Jiangsu Province participated in this study. A 75-g oral glucose tolerance test was used to diagnose diabetes. All urine samples were collected within 2 h of oral glucose loading to measure UG. Partial correlation analyses were used to evaluate the associations between UG and other glycemic variables, including FPG, 2-h plasma glucose （2h-PG）, and glycated hemoglobin A 1 c, after adjustment for age. Tile perfbnnance of UG was evaluated using a receiver operating characteristic （ROC） curve analysis. Results： Of the 7485 individuals included, 8% were newly diagnosed with diabetes and 48.7% had prediabetes. The areas under the ROC curves for UG were 0.75 for estimation of 2h-PG ≥7.8 mmol/L and 0,90 for 2h-PG ≥11.1 mmol/L, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of UG were 52.3% and 87.8%, respectively, for 2h-PG ≥7.8 mmol/L （cutoff point ≥130 mg）, and 83.5% and 87.5%, respectively, for 2h-PG ≥11.1 mmol/L （cutoff point ≥ 178.5 mg）. The combination of FPG and UG demonstrated a significantly higher sensitivity than that of FPG alone for the identification of diabetes （[483/597] 80.9% vs. [335/597] 56.1%, x2 = 85.0, P 〈 0.001） and glucose abnormalities （[2643/4242] 62.3% vs. [2365/4242] 55.8%, x2 = 37.7 P 〈 0.001）. Conclusions： The combination of UG and FPG substantially improves the efficacy of using FPG alone for diabetes screening; this combination might be a practical screening tool and is worth being recommended in the future.

Aim:To determine the apoptotic effect of recombinant rat Fas Ligand on rat inter-vertebral disc cells pre-treated with IL-1beta in vitro,and the expression of Fas incultured rat intervertebral disc ***:Cells were isolated from the innerannulus fibrosus and transition zones of lumbar discs from Sprague-Dawley *** cells were grown in monolayer and divided in 5 treatment ***-1 beta (10ng/mL),FasL (5,20 ng/mL) with/without IL-1beta (10 ng/mL) pre-treatment wasrespectively added in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium and Ham’s F-12 me-dium with 1% fetal bovine *** 32 h,the cells were stained with annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide to evaluate apoptosis using flow cytometry and toanalysis transcription of Fas using ***:Compared with controlgroup,FasL (20 ng/mL),IL-1β(10 ng/mL)+FasL (5 ng/mL),and IL-1β(10 ng/mL)+FasL (20 ng/mL) induced significant apoptosis of the disc cells (P0.05).IL-1β(10 ng/mL) enhanced the apoptosis-inducing effects of FasL (5 ng/mL) and FasL (20 ng/mL) in disc *** genetranscription in all groups and Fas expression in the 5 treatment groups wereapproximately 1.2-2.1-fold greater than control group (respectively,P<0.05).Additionally,Fas expression in FasL with IL-1β pre-treatment groups were signifi-cantly up-regulated than in FasL groups (P<0.01).Conclusion:The results of thisstudy showed disc cells pre-treated with IL-lbeta increased apoptotic rate inresponse to FasL in vitro and provided insights to understand Fas/FasL system-mediated apoptosis in disc cells which would be enhanced due to inflammationfactor in degenerative disc.

The gravitational lensing wave effect generated by a microlensing field embedded in a lens galaxy is an inevitable phenomenon in strong lensed gravitational waves （SLGWs）.This effect presents both challenges and opportunities for the detection and application of ***,investigating this wave effect requires computing a complete diffraction integral over each microlens in the *** is extremely time-consuming due to the large number of microlenses （10～3-10～6）.Therefore,simply adding all the microlenses is ***,the complexity of the time delay surface makes the lens plane resolution a crucial factor in controlling numerical *** this paper,we propose a trapezoid approximation-based adaptive hierarchical tree algorithm to meet the challenges of calculation speed and *** find that this algorithm accelerates the calculation by four orders of magnitude compared to the simple adding method and is one order of magnitude faster than the fixed hierarchical tree algorithm proposed for electromagnetic *** importantly,our algorithm ensures controllable numerical errors,increasing confidence in the *** with our previous work （***.66,239511,2023）,this paper addresses all numerical issues,including integral convergence,precision,and computational time1).Finally,we conducted a population study on the microlensing wave effect of SLGWs using this algorithm and found that the microlensing wave effect cannot be ignored,especially for Type II SLGWs （from saddle position of the time delay surface） due to their intrinsic geometric structures and their typical intersection with a denser microlensing ***,more than 33%（11%） of SLGWs have a mismatch larger than 1%（3%） compared to the unlensed ***,we found that the mismatch between signal pairs in a doubly imaged GW is generally larger than 10-3,and 61%（25%） of signal pairs have a mismatch larger than 1%（3%）.Therefo

The classical Lotka-Volterra （LV） model is a well-known mathematical model for prey-predator ecosystems. In the present paper, the pulse-type version of stochastic LV model, in which the effect of a random natural environment has been modeled as Poisson white noise, is in- vestigated by using the stochastic averaging method. The averaged generalized It6 stochastic differential equation and Fokkerlanck-Kolmogorov （FPK） equation are derived for prey-predator ecosystem driven by Poisson white noise. Approximate stationary solution for the averaged generalized FPK equation is obtained by using the perturbation method. The effect of prey self-competition parameter e2s on ecosystem behavior is evaluated. The analytical result is confirmed by corresponding Monte Carlo （MC） simulation.

●AIM:To assess effectivity and safety of trifocal intraocular lenses(IOLs)and capsular tension rings in treating cataract patients with axial high myopia.●METHODS:A prospective nonrandomized controlled clinical trial was *** 98 eyes(74 patients)who underwent femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery(FLACS)with trifocal IOLs were enrolled in the study and followed up for 2y after surgery:46 eyes(33 patients)with capsular tension ring implantation in the long axial lengths(AL)group(260.05).The dysfunctional lens index and total modulation transfer function(MTF)average height were similar between the two *** postoperative internal coma aberrations in the axial high myopia eyes were significantly higher than that in the normal AL group(P<0.05).The total satisfaction score in the long AL group(91.32±2.76)was slightly higher than that in the normal AL group(90.36±3.47),but there was no difference(P=0.136).A statistically negative correlation was found between corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA)and dysfunctional lens index(r=-0.382,P=0.009),and between CDVA and the total MTF average height(r=-0.374,P=0.01).But there was no significant correlation between CDVA and total satisfaction score(r=0.059,P=0.696).Postoperative complications mainly presented as posterior capsular opacity(PCO),retinal detachment and cystoid macular *** was no difference in the incidenc

γ-A12O3-supported CeO2 catalysts were pre- pared by microemulsion and impregnation methods and characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD） and scanning electron microscope （SEM） techniques. At the same time, the desulfurization activity of catalysts was investigated. The results show that nanoscale active substances and a high desulfurization effect are achieved by microemulsion, exhibiting a significant dominance compared with traditional impregnation method. The optimal preparation condition is temperature of 30 ℃ and ratio of [H20]/[surface active agent] of 7 with slow demulsification. The activated catalysts still keep high and stable desulfurization activity during a wide temperature range of 450-600 ℃. Among a series of prepared catalysts, the desulfurization rate of 6CeOz/γ-A1203 is the highest, reaching up to 80 % when temperature is higher than 550℃. The catalytic reduction mechanism of SO2 over nano-CeOz/γ-A1203 follows redox mechanism.

For non-destructive optical characterization, laser beam induced current(LBIC) microscopy has been developed into as a quantitative tool to examine individual photodiodes within a large pixel array. Two-dimensional LBIC microscopy, also generally called photocurrent mapping(PC mapping), can provide spatially resolved information about local electrical properties and p-n junction formation in photovoltaic infrared(including visible light) photodetectors from which it is possible to extract material and device parameters such as junction area, junction depth, diffusion length, leakage current position and minority carrier diffusion length etc. This paper presents a comprehensive review of research background, operating principle, fundamental issues, and applications of LBIC or PC mapping.

The paper de ls with oscillation of Runge-Kutta methods for equation x＇（t） = ax（t）＋ aox（[t]）. The conditions of oscillation for the numerical methods are presented by considering the characteristic equation of the corresponding discrete scheme. It is proved that any nodes have the same oscillatory property as the integer nodes. Furthermore, the conditions under which the oscillation of the analytic solution is inherited by the numerical solution are obtained. The relationships between stability and oscillation are considered. Finally, some numerical experiments are given.

In this paper, a Ritt-Wu characteristic set method for Laurent partial differential polynomial systems is presented. The concept of Laurent regular differential chain is de?ned and its basic properties are proved. The authors give a partial method to decide whether a Laurent differential chain A is Laurent regular. The decision for whether A is Laurent regular is reduced to the decision of whether a univariate differential chain A1 is Laurent regular. For a univariate differential chain A1,the authors ?rst give a criterion for whether A1 is Laurent regular in terms of its generic zeros and then give partial results on deciding whether A1 is Laurent regular.
