Serum microRNA-221 as a biomarker for diabetic retinopathy in patients associated with type 2 diabetes

AIM: To investigate the candidate microRNA(miRNA), miR-221 as a novel biomarker for diabetic retinopathy(DR) in patients associated with type 2 diabetes(T2D).METHODS: The subjects involved were divided into four groups: healthy control(HC), no diabetic retinopathy(NDR), non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) group. Serum miR-221 was validated by real-time quantitative reversetranscription polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). Also, serum angiotensin II(Ang II) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. In addition, receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was performed to explore the diagnostic accuracy of miR-221, Ang Ⅱ and VEGF for DR in patients with T2D. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was executed to estimate the correlations of serum miR-221 with metabolic parameters and serum markers in patients with ***: Primarily, serum miR-221, Ang Ⅱ and VEGF were increased significantly in T2D patients compared to HC participant respectively, and progressive up-regulated in NDR, NPDR and PDR groups(P<0.001). Additionally, miR-221 in serum was remarkably positively correlatedwith metabolic parameters such as glycated hemoglobin(r=0.310, P=0.002) and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance(r=0.413, P<0.001), as well as serum markers for instance Ang Ⅱ(r=0.667, P<0.001) and VEGF(r=0.499, P<0.001). Furthermore, serum miR-221(AUC, 0.894; 95%CI, 0.833-0.955; P<0.001), Ang Ⅱ(AUC, 0.888; 95%CI, 0.828-0.949; P<0.001) and VEGF(AUC, 0.785; 95%CI, 0.695-0.875; P<0.001) had evidently diagnostic efficiency in DR, and miR-221 is the most effective among ***: Serum miR-221 as a potential biomarker could be related to not only occurrence but also progression for DR in patients with T2D. However, a prospective clinical trial is warranted.

Bisphenol A(BPA),one of the most commonly used plastic organic monomers,is widely used in manufacturing food packaging and ***,the gradual emissions of BPA from manufacturing plastic products bring great potential in human health threats,which urgently need to develop a simple and rapid method for detecting *** bromide(CTAB),a typical surfactant,is used to enhance the electrochemical detection of trace endocrine disruptors due to the fact that it can effectively enrich and absorb hydrophobic phenolic compounds through the hydrophobicity of its long-chain *** on these,the present study reports a ternary composite of Au on zinc oxide/reduced graphene oxide nanosheets(Au/ZnO/rGO)as electrochemical sensor for detecting BP *** the addition of CTAB,the analytic performances toward BP A detection are significantly improved 3.8 times compared with those without *** pH,accumulation potential and time are ***,the electrochemical activity of CTAB/Au/ZnO/rGO sensor is also evaluated by cyclic voltammetry(CV),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),differential pulse voltammetry(DPV)and scan *** sensor displays two linear range from 10to 1340 nmol·L^(-1)and 1340 to 10,000 nmol·L^(-1),and a low detection limit of 4.95 nmol·L^(-1).Lastly,the sensor also exhibits good reproducibility,selectivity and potential practical application for BPA detection in real samples.

Association of p53 codon 72 polymorphism with liver metastases of colorectal cancers positive for p53 overexpression

Objective： To evaluate the association between p53 codon 72 polymorphism （R72P） and the risk ofcolorectal liver metastases. Methods： The p53 R72P genotype was identified by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） method in 78 consecutive colorectal cancer patients with liver metastases and 214 age- and sex-matched cases with nonmetastatic colorectal cancer. Results： The R allele of the p53 R72P polymorphism was more frequently found in metastatic cases than in nonmetastatic cases （P=0.075）. Carriers of the 72R allele had a 2.25-fold （95% CI （confidence interval）=1.05-4.83） increased risk of liver metastases. On the stratification analysis, 72R-carrying genotype conferred a 3.46-fold （95% CI=1.02-11.72） and a 1.05-fold （95% CI=0.36-3.08） increased risk of liver metastases for p53 overexpression-positive and negative colorectal cancers, respectively. Conclusion： These results demonstrate for the first time that the 72R allele of the p53 polymorphism has an increased risk for liver metastases in colorectal cancers positive for p53 overexpression.

Isoflurane preconditioning protects against ischemia-reperfusion injury partly by attenuating cytochrome c release from subsarcolemmal mitochondria in isolated rat hearts

针对脑电信号(EEG)分类识别中的通道选择问题,本文提出了一种新型的Relief-SBS通道选择算法。该算法结合Relief的统计相关性原理和顺序后向选择算法的迭代思想对EEG通道进行选择。并用相关系数法进行分类,取得最优分类准确率的通道即认定为最优通道。以运动想象任务实验数据为分析对象,结果表明利用ReliefSBS进行通道选择后系统能取得出色的分类准确率,即使与其他的特征选择方法相比,其分类准确率也较为出色。另外,该方法选择的最优EEG通道的空间分布也与已知的神经生理学知识一致,说明了本方法的准确性和有效性。该方法的提出为脑机接口通道选择提供了新思路。

Electrodeposition of aluminum and aluminum-magnesium alloys at room temperature

Electrodeposition of aluminum from benzene-tetrahydrofuran-Al Cl3-Li Al H4 was studied at room temperature. Galvanostatic electrolysis was used to investigate the effect of various parameters on deposit morphology and crystal size, including current density, temperature, molar ratio of benzene/tetrahydrofuran and stirring speed. The deposit microstructure was adjusted by changing the parameters, and the optimum operating conditions were determined. Dense, bright and adherent aluminum coatings were obtained over a wide range of current densities(10-25 m A/cm2), molar ratio of benzene and tetrahydrofuran(4:1 to 7:8) and stirring speeds(200-500 r/min). Smaller grain sizes and well-adhered deposits were obtained at lower temperatures. Aluminum-magnesium alloys could potentially be used as hydrogen storage materials. A novel method for Al-Mg deposition was proposed by using pure Mg anodes in the organic solvents system benzene-tetrahydrofuran-Al Cl3-Li Al H4. XRD shows that the aluminum-magnesium alloys are mainly Al3Mg2 and Al12Mg17.

针对人脸识别中的特征提取问题,提出了一种新的核有监督保局投影人脸识别算法,即KSLPP.该算法通过非线性映射将人脸样本投影到高维空间,通过可调因子有效地结合人脸局部流形的结构信息和样本的类别信息,提取人脸的非线性特征.采用最小近邻分类器估算识别率.采用AT&T人脸库以及Yale人脸库,对该方法进行了测试.结果表明,与Eigenface、Fisherface以及Laplacianface等方法相比,该方法具有较好的识别率.

针对人脸识别中判别特征的提取问题,本文提出了一种新的人脸识别算法—扩展保局投影(ELPP)。普通保局投影(LPP)在构建权图时侧重保持样本的局部结构,属于无监督学习算法。扩展保局投影在保局投影的基础上进行扩展,通过引入可调因子,在保持人脸图像局部流形结构的同时考虑样本的类别信息,从而充分提取样本的判别特征。本文采用最小近邻分类器估算识别率。在Yale人脸库以及AT&T人脸库的测试结果表明,在姿态、光照、表情、训练样本数目变化的情况下,ELPP都具有较好的识别率。

针对人脸识别中的特征提取问题,提出了一种基于二维广义主成分分析(2DIMPCA)的人脸识别方法.有别于传统的人脸识别算法需要将二维人脸图像矩阵压缩成一维向量,该方法直接采用二维图像矩阵来构建方差矩阵,通过在水平和垂直2个方向上顺序执行2次广义主成分分析(IMPCA)运算,消除了人脸图像行和列的相关性,大大压缩了特征的维数.选用二维最小近邻分类法进行分类,计算识别率.在AT&T人脸库以及Yale人脸库上的测试结果表明,与主成分分析(PCA)和IMPCA相比,该方法具有更高的识别率和更快的识别速度.

Genetic and Physiological Analysis of a Novel Type of Interspecific Hybrid Weakness in Rice

Hybrid weakness is an important reproductive barrier that hinders genetic exchange between different species at the post-zygotic stage. However, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying hybrid weakness is limited. In this study, we report discovery of a novel interspecific hybrid weakness in a rice chromosome segment substitution line （CSSL） library derived from a cross between the indica variety Teqing （Oryza sativa） and common wild rice （O. rufipogon）. The dominant Hybrid weakness il （Hwil） gene from wild rice is genetically incompatible with Teqing and induced a set of weakness symptoms, including growth suppression, yield decrease, impaired nutrient absorption, and the retardation of crown root initiation. Phytohormone treatment showed that salicylic acid （SA） could restore the height of plants expressing hybrid weakness, while other phytohormones appear to have little effect. Fine mapping indicated that Hwil is located in a tandem leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase （LRR-RLK） gene cluster. Within the 13.2-kb candidate region on the short arm of chromosome 11, there are two annotated LRR-RLK genes, LOC_Osllg07230 and LOC_Osllg07240. The Teqing allele of LOCOsllg07230 and the wild rice allele of LOC_Osllg07240 encode predicted functional proteins. Based on the genetic inheritance of hybrid weakness, LOC_Osllg07240 is implicated as the candidate gene for Hwil. Functional analysis of Hwil will expand our knowledge of the regulation of hybrid weakness in rice.
