Uncertainty in illness and coping styles:Moderating and mediating effects of resilience in stroke patients

BACKGROUND Stroke has a great influence on the patient’s mental health,and reasonable psychological adjustment and disease perception can promote the recovery of mental *** To explore the relationships among resilience,coping style,and uncertainty in illness of stroke *** A retrospective study was used to investigate 154 stroke patients who were diagnosed and treated at eight medical institutes in Henan province,China from October to December *** used the Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale,the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale,and the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire to test the uncertainty in illness,resilience,and coping style,*** Resilience had a significant moderating role in the correlation between coping style and unpredictability and information deficiency for uncertainty in illness(P<0.05).Further,the tenacity and strength dimensions of resilience mediated the correlation between the confrontation coping style and complexity,respectively(P<0.05).The strength dimension of resilience mediated the correlation between an avoidance coping style and the unpredictability of uncertainty in illness(P<0.05),as well as correlated with resignation,complexity,and unpredictability(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Resilience has moderating and mediating roles in the associations between coping style and uncertainty in illness,indicating that it is vital to improve resilience and consider positive coping styles for stroke patients in the prevention and control of uncertainty in illness.

Roasting-induced phase change and its influence on phosphorus removal through acid leaching for high-phosphorus iron ore

In the present study, roasting-induced phase change and its influence on phosphorus removal via leaching has been investigated for high-phosphorus iron ore. The findings indicate that phosphorus in the ore is associated with goethite and exists mainly in amorphous Fe3PO7 phase. The phosphorus remains in the amorphous phase after being roasted below 300℃. Grattarolaite （Fe3PO7） is found in samples roasted at 600-700℃, revealing that phosphorus phase is transformed from the amorphous form to crystalline grattarolaite during roasting. Leaching tests on synthesized pure grattarolaite reveal a low rate of phosphorus removal by sulfiaric acid leaching. When the roasting tem- perature is higher than 800℃, grattarolaite is found to react with alumina to form aluminum phosphate, and the reactivity of grattarolaite with alumina increases with increasing roasting temperature. Consequently, the rate of phosphorus removal also increases with increasing roasting temperature due to the formation of acid-soluble aluminum phosphate.

Numerical Simulation of Rock Burst in Circular Tunnels Under Unloading Conditions

Rock burst in a circular tunnel under high in-situ stress conditions was investigated with a numerical method coupled the rock failure process theory (RFPA) and discontinuous deformation theory (DDA). Some numerical tests were carraied out to investigate the failuer patterns of circular tunnel under unloading conditions. Compared the results under loading conditions,the shapes of failure zones are more regular under the unloading conditions. The failure pat-terns in the same type of rock mass are clearly different because of non-homogeneity of the rock material. The extension of cracks shows some predictability with an increasing of in-situ stress. When the homogeneity index of rocks (m) is ei-ther relatively high or low and lateral pressure coefficients (λ) is high,the number of regular shear slide cracks decreases and the probability of a rock burst also becomes lower. Our numerical simulation results show that the stability of sur-face rock and the natural bedding stratification of rock material greatly affect rock bursts. Installing bolts with due dili-gence and suitably can effectively prevent rock bursts. However,it is not effective to control rock bursts by releasing the strain energy with normal pre-boreholes.

Adsorption and leaching of chalcopyrite by Sulfolobus metallicus YN24 cultured in the distinct energy sources

The chalcopyrite-adsorption characteristics and leaching properties of Sulfolobus metallicus（S. metallicus） YN24 were investigated in this study. The effects of zeta potentials of S. metallicus samples on chalcopyrite cultivated with distinct sources of energy were similar. Regardless of the energy source cultivated, all of the investigated S. metallicus samples adhered rapidly to the chalcopyrite surface, with an adhesion plateau being reached within 60 min. However, the mineral-cultured S. metallicus adsorbed more strongly onto chalcopyrite than the sulfur-cultured S. metallicus did. Furthermore, chalcopyrite-leaching tests suggested that the copper-leaching ability of the mineral-cultured S. metallicus was also greater than that of unadapted S. metallicus. Therefore, the results provide insights into the mechanism of mineral-surface adsorption of microorganisms that helps enhance the copper-leaching rate.

Plastics take hundreds of years to degrade naturally,while their chemical degradation typically requires high temperature and ***,we first utilize solar energy to realize the sustainable and efficient plastic-to-syngas conversion with the aid of water at ambient *** an example,the commercial plastic bags could be efficiently photoconverted into renewable syngas by Co-Ga2O3nanosheets,with hydrogen and carbon monoxide formation rates of 647.8 and 158.3μmol *** situ characterizations and labelling experiments unveil water is photoreduced into hydrogen,while non-recyclable plastics including polyethylene bags,polypropylene boxes and polyethylene terephthalate bottles are photodegraded into carbon dioxide,which is further selectively photoreduced into carbon ***-depth investigation illustrates that the efficiency of syngas production mainly depends on the carbon dioxide reduction process and hence photo catalysts of high carbon dioxide reduction activity should be designed to promote the efficiency of plastic-to-syngas conversion in the *** concept for the photoreforming of non-recyclable plastics into renewable syngas helps to eradicate ’white pollution’ and alleviate the energy crisis simultaneously.

Value of Preoperative Hematological Parameters in the Prognosis of Gastric Cancer Patients Undergoing a Total Gastrectomy

Objective This study aimed to evaluate the relationships between the albumin/globulin ratio(AGR),neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR),and platelet/lymphocyte ratio(PLR)and clinicopathological information for gastric cancer *** addition,the prognostic values of these hematological parameters for resectable gastric cancer patients undergoing a total gastrectomy were *** A total of 245 patients with gastric cancer who underwent a total gastrectomy at our hospital between January 1,2005,and December 30,2015,were enrolled into this *** preoperative AGR,NLR,and PLR in the serum samples of the patients were *** relationships between the hematological parameters and the disease-free survival(DFS)as well as overall survival(OS)were analyzed by statistical *** The cutoff values of AGR,NLR,and PLR were 1.57,3.5,and 193,*** analyses demonstrated that a low AGR,a high NLR,and a high PLR were significant risk factors for a poor *** to multivariate analysis,a high PLR was found to be independently associated with a poor ***,when age was considered as a stratified factor,univariate analyses demonstrated that a low AGR had the tendency to be correlated with a shorter DFS in nonelderly patients(<65 years old).A low AGR was significantly correlated with a shorter DFS and OS in elderly patients(≥65 years old).Conclusion AGR,NLR,and PLR are independent risk factors associated with a poor gastric cancer survival by univariate analysis,and AGR is an independent risk factor for predicting DFS and OS in elderly patients(≥65 years old)with gastric cancer after total gastrectomy.

Innate lymphoid cells （ILCs）, charac. terized by their strict tissue residence and distinct function in the mucosa, are attracting Increased atten. tion In innate Immunity. Upon sensing the danger slg- nals from damaged epithelium, ILCs activate, proliferate, and release numerous cytoklnes with specific local functions; they also participate in mucosal immune- surveillance, Immune-regulation, and homeostasis. However, when their functions become uncontrolled, ILCs can enhance pathological states and Induce dis- eases. In this review, we discuss the physiologicel and pathological functions of ILC subsets 1 to 3 in the lung, and how the pathogenic environment affects the func- tion and plasticity of ILCs.
