This study evaluates the effectiveness of phase change materials(PCMs) inside a storage tank of warm water for solar water heating(SWH) system through the theoretical simulation based on the experimental model of *** et *** model is explained by five fundamental equations for the calculation of various parameters like the effectiveness of PCMs,the mass of hot water,total heat content,and duration of *** study simulated eleven PCMs to analyze their effectiveness like Sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate(SHPD),OM 37,N-Eicosane(NE),Lauric acid(LA),Paraffin wax(PW),OM 48,Paraffin wax C_(20-33)(PW-C20-33),Sodium acetate trihydrate(SAT),Palmitic acid(PA),Myristic acid(MA),and Stearic acid(SA).Among all PCMs,the SHPD has found the highest value of effectiveness factor of ***,it is the most recommended PCM for the storage tank of the SWH *** study also includes the melt fraction analysis of all enumerated PCMs corresponding to container materials of stainless steel,glass,aluminum mixed,tin,aluminum,and *** melt fraction analysis is performed by making a coding program in the FORTRAN programming *** the analysis,copper container material is found to have high melting rate for all PCMs so it is superior to other container materials.

Objective:To investigate the antifertility effect of chronically administered Tabernaemontana divarkala(***) leaf extract on male ***:The effect of 50%ethanol extract of *** leaves on reproduction was studied on male *** study was divided into four groups of five animals *** first groups(1) received vehicle alone to serve as control. The second,third and fourth groups(Ⅱ,ⅡandⅣ) of animals were administered the leaf extract daily at 50 mg/kg body weight,p.o.,100 nig/kg body weight,p.o.,and 200 mg/kg body weight, p.o.,respectively,for a period of 60 ***:Significant decreases in the weight of testes, epididymis,seminal vesicle and ventral prostate were observed.A dose related reduction in the testicular sperm count,epididymal sperm count and motility,number of fertile male,ratio between delivered and inseminated females and numbers of pups were *** testis showed a clear correlation between the dose and severity of lesions of seminiferous epithelium. BACKGROUND Elective cholecystectomy(CCY)is recommended for patients with gallstone-related acute cholangitis(AC)following endoscopic decompression to prevent recurrent biliary ***,the optimal timing and implications of CCY remain *** To examine the impact of same-admission CCY compared to interval CCY on patients with gallstone-related AC using the National Readmission Database(NRD).METHODS We queried the NRD to identify all gallstone-related AC hospitalizations in adult patients with and without the same admission CCY between 2016 and *** primary outcome was all-cause 30-d readmission rates,and secondary outcomes included in-hospital mortality,length of stay(LOS),and hospitalization *** Among the 124964 gallstone-related AC hospitalizations,only 14.67%underwent the same admission *** all-cause 30-d readmissions in the same admission CCY group were almost half that of the non-CCY group(5.56%vs 11.50%).Patients in the same admission CCY group had a longer mean LOS and higher hospitalization costs attrib-utable to *** the most common reason for readmission was sepsis in both groups,the second most common reason was AC in the interval CCY *** Our study suggests that patients with gallstone-related AC who do not undergo the same admission CCY have twice the risk of readmission compared to those who undergo CCY during the same *** readmis-sions can potentially be prevented by performing same-admission CCY in appropriate patients,which may reduce subsequent hospitalization costs secondary to readmissions.

BACKGROUND Short bowel syndrome(SBS)hospitalizations are often complicated with *** is a significant paucity of data on adult SBS hospitalizations in the United States and across the *** To assess trends and outcomes of SBS hospitalizations complicated by sepsis in the United *** The National Inpatient Sample was utilized to identify all adult SBS hospitalizations between *** study cohort was further divided based on the presence or absence of *** were identified,and hospitalization characteristics and clinical outcomes were *** of mortality for SBS hospitalizations complicated with sepsis were *** Of 247097 SBS hospitalizations,21.7%were complicated by *** SBS hospitalizations had a rising trend of hospitalizations from 20.8%in 2005 to 23.5%in 2014(P trend<0.0001).Compared to non-septic SBS hospitalizations,septic SBS hospitalizations had a higher proportion of males(32.8%vs 29.3%,P<0.0001),patients in the 35-49(45.9%vs 42.5%,P<0.0001)and 50-64(32.1%vs 31.1%,P<0.0001)age groups,and ethnic minorities,i.e.,Blacks(12.4%vs 11.3%,P<0.0001)and Hispanics(6.7%vs 5.5%,P<0.0001).Furthermore,septic SBS hospitalizations had a higher proportion of patients with intestinal transplantation(0.33%vs 0.22%,P<0.0001),inpatient mortality(8.5%vs 1.4%,P<0.0001),and mean length of stay(16.1 d vs 7.7 d,P<0.0001)compared to the non-sepsis cohort.A younger age,female gender,White race,and presence of comorbidities such as anemia and depression were identified to be independent predictors of inpatient mortality for septic SBS *** Septic SBS hospitalizations had a rising trend between 2005-2014 and were associated with higher inpatient mortality compared to non-septic SBS hospitalizations.

BACKGROUND Celiac disease(CD)has been associated with gastrointestinal ***,the magnitude of the risk of pancreatic cancer(PC)associated with CD is much less clear,and risks have not been estimated from large *** To assess the risk of PC in CD *** We conducted a population-based,multicenter,propensity score-matched cohort study with consecutive patients diagnosed with CD using the TriNeTx research network *** examined the incidence of PC in patients with CD compared with a matched cohort of patients without CD(non-CD,controls).Each patient in the main group(CD)was matched to a patient in the control group using 1:1 propensity score matching to reduce confounding *** incidence of PC was estimated using a Cox proportional hazards model with a hazard ratio(HR)and 95%confidence interval(CI).RESULTS A total of 389980 patients were included in this *** them,155877 patients had a diagnosis of CD,and the remaining 234103 individuals without CD were considered a control *** mean duration of follow-up for patients in the CD and control cohorts was 5.8±1.8 and 5.9±1.1 years,*** the follow-up,309 patients with CD developed PC,whereas 240 patients developed PC in the control group(HR=1.29;95%CI:1.09-1.53).In the secondary analyses in the first year after diagnosis of CD,patients with CD were at a significant increase in risk for PC;151 patients with CD had an incidence of PC compared with 96 incidences of PC among the patients in the non-CD control group(HR=1.56;95%CI:1.20-2.01)and sensitivity analysis showed similar magnitude to the one generated in the primary and secondary *** Patients with CD are at increased risk of *** elevation persists beyond the first year after diagnosis to reference individuals without CD from the general population.

Silk fibroin/xanthan scaffolds were prepared by blending silk fibroin and xanthan in the ratios 80SF:20Xa(SFX82),60SF:40Xa(SFX64),and 50SF:50Xa(SFX55)using freeze drying ***-vitro degradation behavior of the prepared scaffolds was studied for 37 days in phosphate buffer *** degradation rate was the function of silk fibroin,xanthan and^-crystallite contents in the silk fibroin/xanthan ***82 degraded extremely slowly whereas SFX55 showed faster degradation *** xanthan was the main contributor of weight ***82 and SFX64 exhibited surface degradation whereas SFX55 showed bulk degradation which indicated that higher silk fibroin ratios favor surface *** to bulk degradation,SFX55 showed maximum surface roughness among the composite *** FTIR spectrum revealed total loss of xanthan from the composites after *** broad and low-intensity peaks in the FTIR spectrum of composite scaffolds con finned reduction in 0-sheet crystallite content during *** analysis also confirmed reduction in 0-sheet crystals and revealed that degraded composite scaffold had predominantly amorphous *** degraded scaffold showed higher porous structure than the non-degraded *** in vitro degradability testing gives a good approximation of degradation of scaffold in vivo and helps in designing a robust biopolymeric composite scaffold for tissue engineering.

Electrochemical biosensor holds great promise in the biomedical area due to its enhanced specificity, sensitivity, label-free nature and cost effectiveness for rapid point-of-care detection of diseases at bedside. In this review, we are focusing on the working principle of electrochemical biosensor and how it can be employed in detecting biomarkers of fatal diseases like cancer, AIDS, hepatitis and cardiovascular diseases. Recent advances in the development of implantable biosensors and exploration of nanomaterials in fabrication of electrodes with increasing the sensitivity of biosensor for quick and easy detection of biomolecules have been elucidated in detail. Electrochemical-based detection of heavy metal ions which cause harmful effect on human health has been discussed. Key challenges associated with the electrochemical sensor and its future perspectives are also addressed.
