Understanding the interaction between biological structures and nanoscale technologies,dubbed the nano-bio interface,is required for successful development of safe and efficient nanomedicine *** lack of a universal reporting system and decentralized methodologies for nanomaterial characterization have resulted in a low degree of reliability and reproducibility in the nanomedicine *** such,there is a strong need to establish a characterization system to support the reproducibility of nanoscience data particularly for studies seeking clinical ***,we discuss the existing key standards for addressing robust characterization of nanomaterials based on their intended use in medical devices or as *** also discuss the challenges surrounding implementation of such standard protocols and their implication for translation of nanotechnology into clinical ***,however,emphasize that practical implementation of standard protocols in experimental laboratories requires long-term planning through integration of stakeholders including institutions and funding agencies.

Correlations between various rock mass classification/characterization systems for the Zagros tunnel-W Iran

This study deals with the comparative investigation on various classification/characterization systems for sedimentary rocks in two parts,40 kmlong of the Zagros tunnel,west of *** results of extensive geotechnical explorations and field measurements were applied to obtain the rock mass classification/characterization systems such as Rock Mass Rating(RMR),Rock Condition Rating(RCR),Q-system(Q),Rock Mass Number(QN),Rock Mass index(RMi),Rock Structure Rating(RSR),and Geological Strength Index(GSI)for a wide range of sedimentary rocks.A set of systems inter-relationship is *** of these correlation relations such as RMR-Q,RMR-RMi,RMi-Q,RCR,GSI-GSI(Cai)are similar to the one or more relations proposed in the previous studies,however,some of them such as RSR-RMR,RSR-Q,RCR-QN and GSI-RMR are not similar to the previous *** set orientation and joint set number are more important parameters that cause weak correlation coefficients where both side classifications are not similar in considering them in calculating *** it is proposed to find relations between any pairs of systems that both of them consider or not consider these *** relations are proposed for a wide range of sedimentary rocks and can be applied for similar geological environments.

Optimization and comparison of two different 3D culture methods to prepare cell aggregates as a bioink for organ printing

The ultimate goal of tissue engineering is to design and fabricate functional human tissues that are similar to natural cells and are capable of *** of cell aggregates is one of the important steps in 3D tissue engineering technology,particularly in organ *** simple methods,hanging drop(HD)and conical tube(CT)were utilized to prepare cell *** size and viability of the aggregates obtained at different initial cell densities and pre-culture duration were *** proliferative ability of the cell aggregates and their ability to spread in culture plates were also *** both methods,the optimum average size of the aggregates was less than 500μ*** aggregates were smaller than HD aggregates.5,000 cells per drop HD aggregates showed a marked ability to attach and spread on the culture *** proliferative ability reduced when the initial cell density was *** these methods,we found that the HD method having better size controlling ability as well as enhanced ability to maintain higher rates of viability,spreading,and *** conclusion,smaller HD aggregates might be a suitable choice as building blocks for making bioink particles in bioprinting technique.
