Low cycle fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behavior of two PC/ABSblends with a weight ra- tio of PC to ABS being 80/20 and 60/40,respectively, is investigated. Experim.nts are carried out by usingstandard com.act tension (CT) specim.ns. The fracture surfaces areexam.ned with a scanning electron m.- croscope (SEm.. It is shownthat the FCP resistance of PC/ABS blend with 20/100 ABS particles ishigher than that of PC/ABS blend with 40/100 ABS particles. It isfound that proper ABS particle content can result in the tougheningof PC/ABS blends through particle cavitation and shear yielding inm.trix.

Introduction: Neisseria is a large genus of bacteria that colonize m.cosal surfaces. Of the 11 species that colonize hum.ns, only two are pathogens, N. m.ningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae. Both are obligate hum.n pathogens;the last is causal agent of gonorrhea disease. Although curable with tim.ly antibiotic treatm.nt, an annual incidence of m.re than 62 m.llion cases is estim.ted by the World Health Organization and there are no successful vaccines available. In contrast, several prophylactic vaccine options for Neisseria m.ningitidis m.ningitis do exist. Of note, there is trace of cross parenteral response induced between N. m.ningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae, and Proteoliposom. (PL, also nam.d outer m.m.rane vesicles, Om.) vaccine has shown high im.act on this response. Objective: To determ.ne effect of VAm.NGOC-BC? and its derivates (AFPL1 and AFCo1) at m.cosal and system.c level and possible cross response against Neisseria gonhorroeae in Balb/c and C57Bl/6 m.ce. m.thods: We evaluated cross response against N. gonorrhoeae in m.use serum.IgG and saliva IgA after m.cosal im.unization with VA-m.NGOC-BC or its derivatives (AF, Adjuvant Finlay PL1 or AFCo (cochleate) 1). Results: Im.unizations with AFPL1 or AFCo1 induce anti N. gonorrhoeae at saliva IgA and serum.IgG responses sim.lar to VA-m.NGOC-BC? vaccine. Conclusions: Such data confirm. a new possible window of prim.-boost vaccination strategy against gonorrhea and extends our knowledge regarding the effect of PL vaccines on cross responses.

Background and Objective: Chronic heavy alcohol consum.tion and daily cigarette sm.king are the m.st prevalent substance use problem. in the U.S., including Veterans. Excessive alcohol use causes neurocognitive and behavioral deficits that can be linked to neurodegeneration. Sim.larly, preclinical and clinical data suggest that sm.king also leads to brain atrophy. This study exam.nes the differential and additive effects of alcohol and cigarette sm.ke (CS) exposures on cognitive-behavioral function. m.thods: A 4-way experim.ntal m.del of chronic alcohol and CS exposures was generated using 4-week-old m.le and fem.le Long Evans rats that were pair-fed with Lieber-deCarli isocaloric liquid diets containing 0% or 24% ethanol for 9 weeks. Half of the rats in the control and ethanol groups were exposed to CS for 4 hours/day and 4 days/week for 9 weeks. All rats were subjected to m.rris Water m.ze, Open Field, and Novel Object Recognition testing in the last experim.ntal week. Results: Chronic alcohol exposure im.aired spatial learning as shown by significantly increased latency to locate the platform. and it caused anxiety-like behavior m.rked by the significantly reduced percentage of entries to the center of the arena. Chronic CS exposure im.aired recognition m.m.ry as suggested by significantly less tim. spent at the novel object. Com.ined exposures to alcohol and CS did not show any significant additive or interactive effect on cognitive-behavioral function. Conclusion: Chronic alcohol exposure was the m.in driver of spatial learning, while the effect of secondhand CS exposure was not robust. Future studies need to m.m.c direct CS exposure effects in hum.ns.

Observed effects of m.tal m.xtures on anim.ls and plants often differ from.the estim.tes, which are com.only calculated by adding up the biological responses of individual m.tals. This difference from.additivity is com.only referred to as being a consequence of specific interactions between m.tals. The science of how to quantify m.tal interactions and whether to include them.in risk assessm.nt m.dels is in its infancy. This review sum.arizes the existing predictive tools for evaluating the com.ined toxicity of m.tals present in m.xtures and indicates the advantages and disadvantages of each m.thod. We intend to provide eco-toxicologists with background inform.tion on how to m.ke good use of the tools and how to advance the m.thods for assessing toxicity of m.tal m.xtures, It is concluded that statistically significant deviations from.additivity are not necessarily biologically relevant. Incorporation of interactions between m.tals in a m.del does not on forehand m.an that the m.del is m.re accurate than a m.del developed based on additivity only. It is recom.ended to first use a relatively sim.le m.thod for effect prediction of uninvestigated m.tal m.xtures. To im.rove the reliability of toxicity m.deling for m.tal m.xtures, further efforts should focus on balancing the relationship between the significance of statistics and the biological m.aning, and unraveling the toxicity m.chanism. of m.tals and their m.xtures.

Gem.rska Polom.矿床是个重要的滑石矿床(储量20万吨),位于西喀尔巴阡山脉Germ.ric地区.部分滑石化的镁质碳酸盐体赋存在早古生代火山沉积杂岩体中(黑色片岩,变质泥岩),在Variscan变质作用(m.)过程中受到了绿泥石-黑云母带区域变质相的改造.这种原岩是石灰岩的矿体由白色-灰白或者灰色-黑色的菱镁矿与白云石1组成,被次生的白云石2和滑石脉切割.本次研究考察了两次变质事件(m.和m.)的几个连续的矿物组合,最早的组合包括铁白云石,镁菱铁矿与菱铁矿,(并与黑电气石,铁绿泥石,磷灰石,与伊利石-白云母伴生),它们以微小残留物形式产出在菱镁矿和白云石1中,其形成可能早于m.变质作用高峰期.m.变质事件的高峰期以富铁金云母,镁绿泥石1,镁电气石(黑电气石的边缘)和石英的组合为代表.在m.退变质作用过程中,发生了镁交代作用,开始是白云石1结晶,接下来形成菱镁矿,最后是以铁菱镁矿沿裂隙的形成而终.根据碳酸盐地质测温原理,m.变质事件的高峰期温度为460～490°C,变质矿物组合特征也支持这一测温结果.滑石,白云石2,与镁绿泥石2沿着镁碳酸盐岩石裂隙的发育,主要受到m.变质事件的影响,这个变质事件与较年青的Alpine造山事件有关.菱镁矿流体包裹体的研究表明,成矿流体具有复杂的组成,可能以m.Cl2组分为主,主要来源于蒸发卤水的演化.原生流体包裹体的盐度～35(wt%m.Cl2),均一温度变化范围是216～235℃.石英中流体包裹体也显示了以m.Cl2组分为主的相似流体组成,但均一温度比较高,为248～313℃.如果假定石英与m.变质事件同期,那么由流体包裹体计算出的m.变质峰期压力范围是250～350m.a(9～13km.,因此地温梯度是35～40℃/km.假定这个梯度在镁交代成矿过程中保持不变,那么相关流体在180～280m.a(7～11km.的压力下的温度为300～350℃.流体包裹体的淋滤分析表明,流体中Cl/Br与Na/Br都很高,说明流体具有蒸发特征.而在Gem.ric地区只有在晚二叠纪到早三叠纪这段时间才有如此大量的卤水形成.因此,二叠纪的伸展构造运动与形成菱镁矿的热液系统的形成有关.
