An Innovative Finite Element Geometric Modeling of Single-Layer Multi-Bead WAAMed Part

Finite element (FE) coupled thermal-mechanical analysis is widely used to predict the deformation and residualstress of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) parts. In this study, an innovative single-layermulti-bead profilegeometric modeling method through the isosceles trapezoid function is proposed to build the FE model of theWAAMprocess. Firstly, a straight-line model for overlapping beads based on the parabola function was establishedto calculate the optimal center distance. Then, the isosceles trapezoid-based profile was employed to replace theparabola profiles of the parabola-based overlapping model to establish an innovative isosceles trapezoid-basedmulti-bead overlapping geometric model. The rationality of the isosceles trapezoid-based overlapping model wasconfirmed by comparing the geometric deviation and the heat dissipation performance index of the two overlappingmodels. In addition, the FE-coupled thermal-mechanical analysis, as well as a comparative experiment of thesingle-layer eight-bead deposition process show that the simulation results of the above two models agree with theexperimental results. At the same time, the proposed isosceles trapezoid-based overlappingmodels are all straightlineprofiles, which can be divided into high-quality FE elements. It can improve the modeling efficiency andshorten the simulation calculation time. The innovative modeling method proposed in this study can provide anefficient and high-precision geometricmodelingmethod forWAAMpart FE coupled thermal-mechanical analysis.

The effect of carbon black(CB),carbon nanotube(CNT),and graphene(G)on foaming,electrical conductivity(EC),and electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding of polystyrene(PS)foam that has been produced via microwave heating operation and supercritical carbon dioxide(CO_(2))was *** containing 1 wt%,CNT,and G reached over 90%porosity after 30 s and 3 min radiation time,respectively;however,PS/CB foam did not expand properly even after 3.5 *** addition,the expansion ratio of PS/CB and PS/G was one-sixth and one-half of PS/CNT,respectively-due to the great CNT’s ability to convert microwave radiation to *** of solid and porous nanocomposites has been increased via raising filler content;however,PS/CNT displayed the highest value at the same volume *** ascending trend could not endure during foaming,so a remarkable optimum-point has been observed for nanocomposite ***,EMI-shielding properties of solid and foam nanocomposites were discussed.

Microstructural evolution and creep properties of Mg-4Sn alloys by addition of calcium up to 4 wt.%

The effects of addition of calcium up to 4 wt.% on the microstructure and creep properties of Mg-4 Sn alloys were investigated by the impression creep test. Impression creep tests were performed in temperature range between 445 and 475 K under normalized stresses σ/G(where σ is the stress;G is the shear modulus) between 0.0225 and 0.035. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to study the microstructure of samples. It is observed that the addition of Ca more than 2 wt.% suppresses less stable Mg Sn2 phase, and instead forms more thermally stable phases of Ca-Mg-Sn and Mg2 Ca at the grain boundaries which improve the creep resistance of Mg-4 Sn alloys. Background:Extensive loss of donor neural stem cell(NSCs)due to ischemic stress and low rate of differentiation at the site of cell graft are two of the major issues that hamper optimal outcome in NSCs transplantation *** that histone deacetylases(HDACs)modulate various cellular processes by deacetylating histones and non-histone proteins,we hypothesized that combined treatment with small molecules,sodium butyrate(NaB;a known HDAC inhibitor)and nicorandil,will enhance the rate neuronal differentiation of NSCs besides their preconditioning to resist oxidative ***:NSCs derived from 14-day old Sprague Dawley rat ganglion eminence were characterized for tri-lineage *** with 1 mM NaB significantly changed their culture characteristics while continuous treatment for 10 days enhanced their neural *** treatment also preconditioned the cells for their resistance to oxidative ***:The highest rate of neural differentiation and preconditioning effect was achieved when the NSCs were treated concomitantly with NaB and *** proliferation assay showed that concomitant treatment with NaB and nicorandil retarded their rate of ***:These data conclude that preconditioning of NSCs with NaB and nicorandil effectively enhances their differentiation capacity besides preconditioning the cells to support their survival under ischemic conditions.

BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma(PRP)and hyaluronic acid have been shown to be useful in the treatment of knee ***,investigations comparing the efficacy of these two drugs together are *** To compare the outcomes of PRP vs hyaluronic acid injections in three groups of patients with bilateral knee *** This randomized controlled trial study involved 95 ***-one subjects received a single injection of PRP(group PRP-1),33 subjects received two injections of PRP at an interval of 3 wk(group PRP-2)and 31 subjects received three injections of hyaluronic acid at 1-wk intervals(group hyaluronic acid).The patients were investigated prospectively at the enrollment and at 4-,8-and 12-wk follow-up with the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index(WOMAC)and Visual Analogue Scale *** Percentages of patients experiencing at least a 30%decrease in the total score for the WOMAC pain subscale from baseline to wk 12 of the intervention were 86%,100%and 0%in the groups PRP-1,PRP-2 and hyaluronic acid,respectively(P<0.001).The mean total WOMAC scores for groups PRP-1,PRP-2 and hyaluronic acid at baseline were 63.71,61.57 and 63.11,*** WOMAC scores were significantly improved at final follow-up to 42.5,35.32 and 57.26,*** highest efficacy of PRP was observed in both groups at wk 4 with about 50%decrease in the symptoms compared with about 25%decrease for hyaluronic *** PRP-2 had higher efficacy than group *** major adverse effects were found during the *** PRP is a safe and efficient therapeutic option for treatment of knee *** was demonstrated to be significantly better than hyaluronic *** also found that the efficacy of PRP increases after multiple injections.

Kinetic modeling of cement slurry synthesized with Henna extract in oil well acidizing treatments

Acidizing treatment in petroleum reservoirs is a short-term and viable strategy to preserve the productivity of a *** is a major concern for the degradation of cement sheath integrity,leading to poor zonal isolation and environmental ***,it is essential to understand how the cement behaves when attacked by hydrochloric *** this study,a cement slurry by incorporation of the Henna extract,as an environmentally friendly cement additive,was synthesized as a potential solution to solve this *** characteristics of the treated cement slurry were compared with a reference slurry(w/c?0.44)which is composed of only cement and water.A kinetic study was carried out to evaluate the adsorption behavior of the cement slurries exposed to an acid solution with 0.1 M HCl in a range of 25 to 55C *** features of the cement slurries were evaluated by multiple analytical techniques such as XRD,FTIR,TG,and DSC *** the experimental data,it is concluded that the second-order Lagergren kinetic model revealed to be the best in describing kinetic isotherms taken,because the margin between experimental and calculated values was minor for this *** results of the characterization and HCl interaction kinetic studies underlined the prominent protective role of Henna extract-modified cement slurry in the enhancement of the cement resistance against acid attack and utilization in environmentally favorable oil well acidizing treatments.

Numerical study on cavitation in a globe control valve with different numbers of anti-cavitation trims

Cavitation is a destructive phenomenon in control *** order to delay cavitation,a multi-series of perforated cylindrical plates,called trims,are ***,the effects of orifice diameter and different types of trims have been *** this study,by numerical analysis,a globe control valve was investigated by employing four different cases(without trim,with one trim,with two and three trims)and the impact of the number of these trims on the intensity,formation region and the initiation point of cavitation was *** was found that the addition of one stage or two stages of trims reduces the intensity and delays the onset of cavitation,relative to the valve without ***,no significant differences in terms of intensity and initiation point of cavitation were observed in the cases where two or three trims were ***,due to the high cost of producing the trims,and the severe drop in flow coefficient,it is not economically and technically justified to increase the number of trims to more than three.

Use of 2-(tert-butoxy)-N-(3-carbamothioylphenyl)acetamide and graphene oxide for separation and preconcentration of Fe(Ⅲ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) ions in different samples

A simple and selective method using a column packed with graphene oxide（GO） as a solid phase extractant has been developed for the multi-element preconcentration of Fe（Ⅲ）,Ni（Ⅱ）,Cu（Ⅱ） and Zn（Ⅱ）ions prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometric *** method is based on the sorption of mentioned ions on synthesized GO using 2-（tert-butoxy）-N-（3-carbamothioylphenyl）acetamide as a chelating *** parameters on the extraction and complex formation were *** the optimized conditions（pH 6,flow rate 9 mL/min）,metal ions were retained on the column,then quantitatively eluted by HNO3solution（5 mL,3.0 mol/L）.The preconcentration factor was calculated *** detection limits for the analyte ions of interest were found in the range of 0.11 ng/mL（Ni2＋） to0.63 ng/mL（Cu2＋）.The column packed with GO was adequate for metal ions separation in matrixes containing alkali,alkaline earth,transition and heavy metal ions.
