A mathematical model for analyzing and simulating selective hydrogenation of butyne-1 and 1,3-bu-tadiene in industrial trickle bed reactors operated to obtain high purity butene-1 is presented in this *** analysis of typical operating conditions,only the relevant phenomena are finally retained in the model *** model is then employed to analyze the effect of operating variables and catalyst selectivity in *** particular,the search for the minimum hydrogen flow rate necessary to fulfil butene-1 purityspecifications is undertaken.

Membranes are fundamental elements within organ-on-a-chip(OOC)platforms,as they provide adherent cells with support,allow nutrients(and other relevant molecules)to permeate/exchange through membrane pores,and enable the delivery of mechanical or chemical *** OOC platforms,physiological processes can be studied in vitro,whereas OOC membranes broaden knowledge of how mechanical and chemical cues affect cells and *** with membranes are in vitro microfluidic models that are used to replace animal testing for various applications,such as drug discovery and disease *** this review,the relevance of OOCs with membranes is discussed as well as their scaffold and actuation roles,properties(physical and material),and fabrication methods in different organ *** purpose was to aid readers with membrane selection for the development of OOCs with specific applications in the fields of mechanistic,pathological,and drug testing *** stimulation from liquid flow and cyclic strain,as well as their effects on the cell’s increased physiological relevance(IpR),are described in the first *** review also contains methods to fabricate synthetic and ECM(extracellular matrix)protein membranes,their characteristics(e.g.,thickness and porosity,which can be adjusted depending on the application,as shown in the graphical abstract),and the biological materials used for their *** discussion section joins and describes the roles of membranes for different research purposes and their advantages and challenges.

Radio Frequency IDentification(RFID)and related technologies such as near Field Communication(nFC)are becoming essential in industrial contexts thanks to their ability to perform contactless data exchange,either device-to-device or *** of the three main operation modes of nFC,called read/write mode,makes use of the latter type of *** is extensively used in business information systems that make use of nFC tags to provide the end-user with augmented information in one of several available nFC data exchange formats,such as plain text,simple URLs or enriched *** a wide variety of physical form factors,nFC-compatible tags(wireless transponders)are currently available in many locations with applications going from smart posters,contactless tokens,tap-and-go payments or transport ticketing to automated device configuration,patient identification at hospitals or inventory management within supply *** of these applications handle sensitive processes or *** paper proposes a complete security threat model for the read/write operation mode of nFC used in next Generation Industrial IoT(nx-IIoT)*** model,based on a wellknown methodology,STRIDE,allows developers and users to identify nFC applications vulnerabilities or weaknesses,analyze potential threats,propose risk management strategies,and design mitigation mechanisms to mention only some significant examples.

This study provides new insights on the phylogenetic position of the lichenicolous fungal genus Abrothallus based on six molecular markers(nuSSU,nuLSU,mtSSU,RpB1,RpB2 and TEF-α).In a broad-scale analysis,we detected high support for inclusion of the genus within Dothideomycetes.A further analysis provided support for Abrothallus as a member of the subclass pleosporomycetidae as a sister group of Jahnulales,an order of aquatic *** the exclusive characters of this group of apotheciate fungi within the Dothidiomycetes,a new monotypic order Abrothallales is here introduced together with the new family *** a multi-locus analysis(based on the six loci indicated above plus ITS)restricted to 12 putative Abrothallus species,two clearly separated clades were observed:one comprising species growing on lichens of the families parmeliaceae and Ramalinaceae,and the second including species that live on lichens of the order peltigerales and the family Cladoniaceae.

Demand response is a basic tool used to develop modern power systems and electricity markets. Residential and commercial segments account for 40%–50% of the overall electricity demand. These segments need to overcome major obstacles before they can be included in a demand response portfolio. The objective of this paper is to tackle some of the technical barriers and explain how the potential of enabling technology(smart meters) can be harnessed, to evaluate the potential of customers for demand response(end-uses and their behaviors) and,moreover, to validate customers’ effective response to market prices or system events by means of non-intrusive methods. A tool based on the Hilbert transform is improved herein to identify and characterize the most suitable loads for the aforesaid purpose, whereby important characteristics such as cycling frequency, power level and pulse width are identified. The proposed methodology allows the filtering of aggregated load according to the amplitudes of elemental loads, independently of the frequency of their behaviors that could be altered by internal or external inputs such as weather or demand response. In this way, the assessment and verification of customer response can be improved by solving the problem of load aggregation with the help of integral transforms.

Background Recent changes in climatic trends are resulting in an increased frequency and intensity of extreme events, with unknown effect on ecosystem dynamics in the near future. Extreme drought episodes are recognized as disturbance factors capable of modifying forest dynamics and tree growth. Within this context, dioecious tree species may be impacted by climatic extremes, affecting male/female proportions and, consequently, reproductive processes and species persistence. Therefore, there is an urgent need for species-specific assessments of growth tolerance to extreme dry spells in dioecious tree species, to establish effective conservation strategies for these particular natural resources. Araucaria araucana(araucaria), an endangered dioecious patagonian tree species, has recently undergone decay and mortality episodes in response to increasing dry climatic conditions. While sex-dependent tolerance to extreme drought episodes has been assessed in the species' humid distribution range, there is still a lack of information on the gender-based resilience of trees growing in the drier environments of the species' *** We reconstructed, through dendrochronological methods, the sex-dependent response of 105 araucaria individuals(55 female and 50 male trees) to five regional extreme dry spells employing a set of different indices. Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites have gained great attention as promising photocatalysts for hydrogen ***,due to their poor stability in water,the use of aqueous hydrohalic acid solutions is specifically required for an efficient hydrogen ***,three novel photoactive lead-free hybrid perovskites based on bismuth and triazolium cations(denoted as IEF-15,IEF-16,and IEF-17(IEF stands for IMDEA energy frameworks))were synthesized and fully characterized(structural,compositional,optical,etc.).Further,these solids were proposed as photocatalysts for the challenging gas phase overall water splitting(OWS)***,IEF-16 thin films exhibited a remarkable photocatalytic activity in both H_(2) and O_(2) evolution,as a consequence of its appropriate bandgap and energy-band alignment,achieving hydrogen evolution rates ofμmol·g_(H_(2))^(-)1846 and 360 after 24 h under ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)irradiation or simulated solar irradiation,*** study additionally highlights the remarkable structural and photochemical stability of IEF-16 under different operational conditions(*** volume,irradiation and temperature),paving the way for green hydrogen production from OWS using perovskite-based photocatalysts.
