Three-dimensional(3D)glass chips are promising waveguide platf.rms f.r building hybrid 3D photonic circuits due to their 3D topological capabilities,large transparent windows,and low coupling *** present,the key challenge in scaling down a benchtop optical system to a glass chip is the lack of.precise methods f.r controlling the mode f.eld and optical coupling of.3D waveguide ***,we propose an overlap-controlled multi-scan(OCMS)method based on laser-direct lithography that allows customizing the ref.active index prof.le of.3D waveguides with high spatial precision in a variety of.*** the basis of.this method,we achieve variable mode-f.eld distribution,robust and broadband coupling,and thereby demonstrate dispersionless LP21-mode conversion of.supercontinuum pulses with the largest deviation of.0.1 dB in coupling ratios on 210 nm *** approach provides a route to achieve ultra-broadband and low-dispersion coupling in 3D photonic circuits,with overwhelming advantages over conventional planar waveguide-optic platf.rms f.r on-chip transmission and manipulation of.ultrashort laser pulses and broadband supercontinuum.

An analysis of.the changes in vegetation cover on the territory of.the Republic of.Khakassia in 2000–2021 due to climatic trends was carried out based on the MODIS *** changes in vegetation cover were estimated based on trends in Normalized Dif.erence Vegetation Index(NDVI)and Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI).In general,in the 21st century,an increase in the biomass of.vegetation cover is *** trends were observed in 16%–22%of.the territory,and negative only in 1%–3%.f.r about 20%of.the analyzed territory,a signif.cant inf.uence of.climate on the changes in vegetation cover was *** most pronounced negative impact on vegetation cover was caused by summer air and soil temperatures,spring temperature,and summer winds,and the positive impact was caused by summer precipitation and soil *** response of.the vegetation cover to climate was non-unif.rm concerning the ***,a signif.cant correlation with the amount of.precipitation was observed f.r~20%–35%of.vegetation growing below 600 m above sea level and f.r less than 5%above this *** negative ef.ect of.summer temperatures on plants prevailed mainly at an elevation below~1400 m above sea *** climate change is likely to lead to signif.cant degradation of.vegetation in the steppe and f.reststeppe in Khakassia in the coming decades.

Translocation is a recognized means of.rescuing imperiled species but the evidence f.r the long-term success of.translocations is limited. We report the successf.l translocation of.reproductive individuals of.a critically endangered shrub Otostegia bucharica f.om a site f.cing imminent habitat destruction into a nearby natural population of.the species. The relocated plants were visited the year af.er planting and 13 years later to assess short-and long-term plant survival. Signif.cant percentage of.plants that survived transplanting shock and very dry spring f.llowing transplanting(around 36%), and f.rther decrease of.this number in the next 12 years by only 14%, indicated that O. bucharica is amenable to translocation using reproductive plants. Based on results of.species distribution modeling, and f.iled attempts of.ex situ cultivation, we propose introduction of.this species into areas with suitable climatic and soil ***, because there is currently no nature reserve in Uzbekistan having suitable conditions f.r the species under the present climate and that expected in the near f.ture, and because all known habitats of.O. bucharica are exposed to the very strong anthropogenic pressure, establishment of.a new protected area, awareness building and involvement of.local community in conservation activities are required to prevent extinction of.this extremely rare species.

Health and Development f.undation has worked collaboratively with the Government of.the Russian f.deration to develop and implement a model program of.retention and continuity of.care f.r opioid dependence and HIV inf.ction. The model utilizes the Narcology Detoxif.cation Service, State AIDS Centers, Non Government Organization (NGO) managed narcology treatment and rehabilitation centers, NGO outreach programs and the community. The model program was developed and implemented as a pilot demonstration project to provide essential health services to injection drug users and retain them in care. The interventions developed and implemented comprised HIV Testing and Counseling, HIV/AIDS Narcology Post-Graduate Curriculum, Peer Support Groups (Buf.er groups), Narcological f.llow-up Phone Monitoring, Women’s Narcological Services and Short Messaging Services f.r Injection Drug Users. These services and interventions promoted the integration and utilization of.HIV/AIDS health services and narcological services to f.rm an evidence-based health service delivery model providing essential services to people who inject drugs and people living with HIV/AIDS in the Russian f.deration.

There is now growing evidence that membrane vesicle traf.icking proteins, especially of.the superf.mily of.SNAREs, are critical f.r cellular signalling in plants. Work f.om this laboratory f.rst demonstrated that a soluble, inhibitory （dominant-negative） f.agment of.the SNARE NtSyp121 blocked K^＋ and CI^- channel responses to the stress-related hormone abscisic acid （ABA）, but lef. open a question about f.nctional impacts on signal intermediates, especially on Ca^2＋-mediated signalling events. Here, we report one mode of.action f.r the SNARE mediated directly through alterations in Ca^2＋ channel gating and its consequent ef.ects on cytosolic-f.ee [Ca^2＋] （[Ca^2＋]i） elevation. We f.nd that expressing the same inhibitory f.agment of.NtSyp121 blocks ABA-evoked stomatal closure, but only partially suppresses stomatal closure in the presence of.the NO donor, SNAP, which promotes [Ca^2＋]i elevation independently of.the plasma membrane Ca^2＋ channels. Consistent with these observations, Ca^2＋ channel gating at the plasma membrane is altered by the SNARE f.agment in a manner ef.ective in reducing the potential f.r triggering a rise in [Ca^2＋]i, and we show directly that its expression in vivo leads to a pronounced suppression of.evoked [Ca^2＋]i transients. These observations of.er primary evidence f.r the f.nctional coupling of.the SNARE with Ca^2＋ channels at the plant cell plasma membrane and, because [Ca^2＋]i plays a key role in the control of.K^＋ and CI^- channel currents in guard cells, they underscore an important mechanism f.r SNARE integration with ion channel regulation during stomatal closure.

The halophyte Salicornia europaea L. is a widely distributed salt-tolerant plant species that produces numerous dimorphic seeds. We studied germination and recovery in dimorphic seeds of.Central Asian S. europaea under various salinity conditions. We also tested the ef.ects of.various salts on Natand Ktaccumulation during plant development f.om germination to anthesis under greenhouse conditions. We f.und good germination(close to control) of.large seeds under Na Cl between 0.5 and 2%, Na_2SO_4and 2 Na Cl t KCl t Ca Cl between 0.5 and 3%, and 2Na_2SO_4t K_2SO_4t Mg SO4 between 0.5 and 5%. f.r the small seeds, we f.und stimulating ef.ects of.chloride salts(both pure and mixed) under 0.5e1% concentrations, and sulf.te salts under 0.5e3%. Both types of.seeds showed high germination recovery potential. Salt tolerance limits of.the two seed types during germination and at the later stages of.development were very similar(4e5%). During plant growth the optimal concentrations of.mixed chloride and sulf.te salts ranged f.om 0.5 to 2%. The mechanisms of.salt tolerance in the two seed types of.S. europaea appear to dif.er, but complement each other, improving overall adaptation of.this species to high salinity.

Mossbauer spectroscopy and operando X-ray adsorption *** catalytic perf.rmance was evaluated in the CO_(2)*** the reaction conditions,the catalysts undergo the f.rmation of.an iron(Ⅱ)molybdate structure,accompanied by a partial reduction of.molybdenum and carbidization of.*** rate of.CO_(2)conversion and product selectivity strongly depend on the promoting alkali metals,and electronegativity was identif.ed as an important f.ctor af.ecting the catalytic *** CO_(2)conversion rates were observed with the promoters having higher electronegativity,while low electronegativity of.alkali metals f.vors higher light olef.n selectivity.

Instabilities of.unif.rm states are ubiquitous processes occurring in a variety of.spatially extended nonlinear *** instabilities are at the heart of.symmetry breaking,condensate dynamics,self.organisation,pattern f.rmation,and noise amplif.cation across diverse disciplines,including physics,chemistry,engineering,and *** nonlinear optics,modulation instabilities are generally linked to the so-called parametric amplif.cation process,which occurs when certain phase-matching or quasi-phase-matching conditions are *** the present review article,we summarise the principle results on modulation instabilities and parametric amplif.cation in nonlinear optics,with special emphasis on optical *** then review state-of.the-art research about a peculiar class of.modulation instabilities(MIs)and signal amplif.cation processes induced by dissipation in nonlinear optical *** applied to certain parts of.the spectrum counterintuitively lead to the exponential growth of.the damped mode themselves,causing gain through *** discuss the concept of.imaging of.losses into gain,showing how to map a given spectral loss prof.le into a gain *** demonstrate with concrete examples that dissipation-induced MI,apart f.om being of.f.ndamental theoretical interest,may pave the way towards the design of.a new class of.tuneable f.bre-based optical amplif.ers,optical parametric oscillators,f.equency comb sources,and pulsed lasers.
