Phenotypic and genomic relationships between vulva score categories and reproductive performance in first-parity sows

Background:One of the biggest challenges in the swine industry is to increase female reproductive ***,vulva score categories(vSC),assessed prior to puberty,has been proposed as an indicator trait of efficient reproductive performance in *** objective of this study was to validate the use of vSC as an indicator trait for reproductive performance,and to perform genetic and genomic analyses for ***:The phenotypic relationship of vSC,using a three-point scale:small(vSC-S),medium(vSC-m),and large(vSC-l),on reproductive performance was evaluated on three *** was measured at 15 weeks of age,for farms 1 and 2,and at 14 weeks of age for farm 3 on 3981 Yorkshire gilts,in which 1083 had genotypes(~50 K SNPs).Genetic parameters for vSC with reproductive traits were estimated using ssGBlUP.A Genome-wide association study(GWAS)for vSC was performed using ***:For the phenotypic analysis of vSC across datasets,differences in performance were identified there was a significant effect(P≤0.05)for the interaction between Farm and vSC for total number dead(TND),and a trend(Pl number born(TNB).There were significant(P≤0.05)pre-defined contrasts of vSC-S versus vSC-m+l on TNB,number born alive(NBA),TND,number of stillborn(NSB),and number of mummies(mUm).Heritability estimates for vSC as a categorical trait(vSCc)and a quantitative trait(vSCq)were 0.40±0.02 and 0.83±0.02,respectively,for across farm,0.13±0.07 and 0.20±0.10,respectively,for Farm1,0.07±0.07 and 0.09±0.09,respectively,for Farm2,and 0.20±0.03 and 0.34±0.05,respectively,for *** across farms,favorable genetic correlations estimates were found for TNB(0.28±0.19)and NBA(0.26±0.17).Within farms,moderate genetic correlations between vSC with reproductive traits were found for TNB(0.61±0.47)and mUm(0.69±0.47)for farm 1,for number of services until first farrow(NS;0.69±0.38)and unique service with successful first farrow(SFS;−0.71±0.38)for farm *** genomic regions

Acute changes in ganglion cell layer thickness in ischemic optic neuropathy compared to optic neuritis using optical coherence tomography

AIm:To elucidate the changes of different ganglion cell layer(GCl)thinning patterns between the optic neuritis(ON)and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy(NAION).mETHODS:A prospective,observational study was conducted to evaluate the timing of GCl changes between acute ON and NAION using optical coherence ***:Thinning on optical coherence tomography in the NAION group occurs as early as 11 d after symptomatic onset of vision loss and follows an altitudinal *** mean superior-inferior GCl thickness difference in the NAION cohort was clinically significant at 5.7μm in the NAION cohort compared to controls of 0.8μm(P=0.032),but not significant in the ON group compared to controls with both groups measuring 1.1μ*** thinning was significant for the ON group compared to controls at 7.2μm(P=0.011)but not the NAION group compared to controls at 1.35μ***:These findings suggest that future treatments for NAION should be given early,and possibly before 11 d in order to prevent GCl and irreversible vision loss.

The first search for the doubly heavy Ωbc0baryon and a search for the Ξbc0baryon are performed using pp collision data collected via the lHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 Tev,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 *** baryons are reconstructed via their decays to ∧c+π-andΞc+π-.No significant excess is found for invariant masses between 6700 and 7300 mev/c2,in a rapidity range from2.0 to 4.5 and a transverse momentum range from 2 to 20 mev/*** limits are set on the ratio of the Ωbc0andΞbc0production cross-section times the branching fraction to ∧c+π-（Ξc+π-） relative to that of the ∧b0（Ξb0） baryon,for different lifetime hypotheses,at 95% confidence *** upper limits range from 0.5×10-4to 2.5×10-4for theΩbc0→∧c+π-(Ξbc0→∧c+π-) decay,and from 1.4×10-3to 6.9×10-3for the Ωbc0→Ξc+π-(Ξbc0→Ξc+π-) decay,depending on the considered mass and lifetime of the Ωbc0(Ξbc0) baryon.

PAPR reduction in mobile WimAX:A new ZCmT precoded random interleaved OFDmA system

mobile WimAX(worldwide interoperability for microwave access) air interface adopts orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDmA) as multiple access technique for its uplink(Ul) and downlink(Dl) to improve the multipath *** OFDmA based networks,like mobile WimAX,experience the problem of high peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR).The high PAPR increases the complexity of analog-to-digital(A/D) and digital-to-analog(D/A) convertors,and also reduces the efficiency of RF high-power-amplifier(HPA).In this work,a new zadoff-chu matrix transform(ZCmT) precoding based random interleaved orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDmA) system was proposed for PAPR reduction in mobile WimAX *** system is based on precoding the constellation symbols with the ZCmT precoder before subcarrier *** PAPR of proposed system is analyzed with the root-raised-cosine(RRC) pulse shaping to keep out of band radiation low and meet the transmission spectrum mask *** results show that the proposed system has better PAPR gain than the hadamard transform(WHT) precoded random interleaved OFDmA systems and the conventional random interleaved OFDmA ***-error-rate(ser) performance of the system is also better than the conventional random interleaved OFDmA systems and the random interleaved OFDmA systems with *** good improvement in PAPR significantly reduces the cost and the complexity of the transmitter.

A search for the rare decays W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→D0γis performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the lHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13Tev,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0fb−*** significant signal is observed for either decay mode and upper limits on their branching fractions are set using W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→μ+μ−decays as normalization *** upper limits are 6.5×10^(−4) and 2.1×10^(−3) at 95% confidence level for the W^(+)→D_(s)^(+)γ and Z→D^(0)γ decay modes,*** is the first reported search for the Z→D^(0)γ decay,while the upper limit on the W+→D+sγbranching fraction improves upon the previous best limit.

Objective: To compare the clinical and pathological features of Alzheimer’s d isease (AD) patients with and without associated cerebral infarcts (CI). methods : The consecutive records of 57 prospectively studied demented patients fulfilli ng the CERAD criteria for the pathological diagnosis of AD were *** w ith cortical lewy bodies were excluded. CI were found in 22 cases (39%) (AD+CI group): large infarcts (5), lacunes(13) and/or hip pocampal sclerosis (4), and were absent in 35cases (AD group). microscopic inf arcts, cribiform change,amyloid angiopathy, and white matter rarefaction were no t considered in this classification, but were quantified. Corticalatrophy, neuro fibrillary tangle and senile plaque (diffuse and neuritic) load were also measur ed. Pathological evaluation was independent of clinical information. Clinical an d pathological data were compared between both groups. Results: AD+CI cases wer e significantly older, more commonly female, less educated, and more often had b lue collar occupations, sleep disturbances, frontal release signs, and EEG spike s than AD cases. Other differences found (acute/subacute onset, behavioral distu rbances, and leukoaraiosis on CT scan) disappeared after controlling for age. Th e frequency of known vascular risk factors and focal motor and sensory signs did not differ between the groups, which showed remarkable clinical similarity over all. The only significant differences on pathological exam were hippocampal micr oinfarcts and white matter lesions,although there was a trend for lower neurodeg enerative lesion load in the AD+CI group. The ischemic lesions were located in temporal lobe in 50%of AD+CI patients; these cases had a significantly lower n eocortical neurodegenerative lesion load than those with CI in other sites. Conc lusions: The presence of CI in AD increases significantly with age, but has scar ce influence on the clinical features, and cannot be predicted from common vascu lar risk factors.
