Today,self-healing graphene-and MXene-based composites have attracted researchers due to the increase in durability as well as the cost reduction in long-time applications.Different studies have focused on designing novel self-healing graphene-and MXenebased composites with enhanced sensitivity,stretchability,and flexibility as well as improved electrical conductivity,healing efficacy,mechanical properties,and energy conversion efficacy.These composites with self-healing properties can be employed in the field of wearable sensors,supercapacitors,anticorrosive coatings,electromagnetic interference shielding,electronic-skin,soft robotics,etc.However,it appears that more explorations are still needed to achieve composites with excellent arbitrary shape adaptability,suitable adhesiveness,ideal durability,high stretchability,immediate self-healing responsibility,and outstanding electromagnetic features.Besides,optimizing reaction/synthesis conditions and finding suitable strategies for functionalization/modification are crucial aspects that should be comprehensively investigated.MXenes and graphene exhibited superior electrochemical properties with abundant surface terminations and great surface area,which are important to evolve biomedical and sensing applications.However,flexibility and stretchability are important criteria that need to be improved for their future applications.Herein,the most recent advancements pertaining to the applications and properties of self-healing graphene-and MXene-based composites are deliberated,focusing on crucial challenges and future perspectives.

Anomalous negative magnetoresistance in quantum dot Josephson junctions with Kondo correlations

The interplay between superconductivity and the Kondo effect has stimulated significant interest in condensed matter physics.They compete when their critical temperatures are close and can give rise to a quantum phase transition that can mimic Majorana zero modes. Here, we have fabricated and measured Al-InSb nanowire quantum dot-Al devices. In the Kondo regime, a supercurrent-induced zero-bias conductance peak emerges. This zero-bias peak shows an anomalous negative magnetoresistance(NMR) at weak magnetic fields. We attribute this anomalous NMR to quasiparticle trapping at vortices in the superconductor leads as a weak magnetic field is applied. The trapping effect lowers the quasiparticle-caused dissipation and thus enhances the Josephson current. This work connects the vortex physics and the supercurrent tunneling in Kondo regimes and can help further understand the physics of Josephson quantum dot system.

Gastrointestinal viral shedding in children with SARS‑CoV‑2:a systematic review and meta‑analysis

Background Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has diferent manifestations in pediatric cases.It is assumed that they might present more gastrointestinal symptoms with a diferent viral shedding pattern in gastrointestinal samples.In this systematic review and meta-analysis,we aimed to evaluate the viral shedding pattern in gastrointestinal specimens of children with COVID-19.Methods We searched all published studies in English language in PubMed,Web of Science,and Scopus,up to date as of October 2021.Our search included the term"severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,COVID-19,SARS-CoV-2,novel coronavirus,or coronavirus;and shed,excrete,secret,or carriage;and stool or rectal;and children or pediatrics".We included studies evaluating SARS-CoV-2 shedding in gastrointestinal specimens,including rectal swabs and stool samples of children with COVID-19 infection.We excluded duplicated data,case reports,and studies without original data.Results Twelve studies met the eligibility criteria for the qualitative synthesis,10 of which were included in the meta-analysis.The pooled prevalence of gastrointestinal severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)RNA in children with COVID-19 was 86%(95%confdence interval 73%–96%,I 2=62.28%).After respiratory specimen had become negative,72%(43/60)had persistent shedding in gastrointestinal specimens.The gastrointestinal RNA had a positive test result for more than 70 days after symptoms onset.Conclusions Gastrointestinal shedding of SARS-CoV-2 might occur in a substantial portion of children and might persist long after negative respiratory testing.Further research is recommended to fnd the role of SARS-CoV-2 gastrointestinal shedding in transmission in children.

Behavior Analysis of Biomimetic Soft Bending Actuators in Free Motion and Contact

Bioinspired Soft Bending Actuators (SBA) are increasingly being used in rehabilitation, assistant robots, and grippers. Despite many investigations on free motion modeling, understanding how these actuators interact with the environment requires more detailed research. It is caused by high compliance and nonlinearity of bioinspired soft material, which leads to serious challenges in contact conditions. In this paper, a continuous deformation analysis is presented to describe the free motion nonlinear behavior of the actuator. Based on the achieved result, this study proposes static modeling of SBA affected by a concentrated external force. For this purpose, the finite rigid element method is utilized, which is based on discretizing the actuator into smaller parts and assuming these parts as rigid serial links connected by nonlinear torsional springs. To verify the proposed model, two kinds of forces are considered to be acting on the actuator, i.e. following force and constant direction force. In addition, the effect of gravity on the actuator configuration is also investigated. The validity of the model has been demonstrated through experiments in free motion, contact conditions and the presence of gravity. It generally shows that the prediction error of robot configuration is lower than 7.5%.

Study of narrow waterways congestion based on automatic identification system(AIS)data:A case study of Houston Ship Channel

Using automatic identification system(AIS)data,this article first has extended the definition of three widely used roadway congestion indices to maritime transportation systems(MTS),traffic speed index(TSI),traffic rate index(TRI),and dwell time index(DTI).Next,a methodology is developed to measure the indices based on AIS data,considering various factors,including path geometry,time of day,and the type and size of vessels,and finally the method has been applied to the AIS data of the Houston Ship Channel(HSC)to evaluate the applicability in real cases.The results show that although average TSI and TRI cannot represent waterway congestion,the real-time values(rather than the average)at the micro level can help finding location,time,and severity of traffic congestion.Besides,while TSI and TRI have shortcomings,both average and real-time dwell time index(DTI)can quantify traffic congestion and highlight severity in different waterway segments for different types of vessels.When congestion happens at some narrow waterways,vessels need to wait at sea buoy or docks,thus dwell time index(DTI)can quantify traffic congestion better than in-transit indices such as travel speed,TSI.According to HSC DTI,most tankers experience long waiting times at the sea buoy and Galveston Bay,while cargo vessels experience delays at Bayport and Barbour’s Cut terminals.This paper helps the decision-makers quantify congestion in different sections of a waterway and provides measures to compare congestion for national competing projects at different waterways.

Surface Treatment of Inorganic CsPbI_(3) Nanocrystals with Guanidinium Iodide for Efficient Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes with High Brightness

The remarkable evolution of metal halide perovskites in the past decade makes them promise for next-generation optoelectronic material.In particular,nanocrystals(NCs)of inorganic perovskites have demonstrated excellent performance for light-emitting and display applications.However,the presence of surface defects on the NCs negatively impacts their performance in devices.Herein,we report a compatible facial post-treatment of CsPbI_(3) nanocrystals using guanidinium iodide(GuI).It is found that the GuI treatment effectively passivated the halide vacancy defects on the surface of the NCs while offering effective surface protection and exciton confinement thanks to the beneficial contribution of iodide and guanidinium cation.As a consequence,the film of treated CsPbI_(3) nanocrystals exhibited significantly enhanced luminescence and charge transport properties,leading to high-performance light-emitting diode with maximum external quantum efficiency of 13.8%with high brightness(peak luminance of 7039 cd m^(−2) and a peak current density of 10.8 cd A^(−1)).The EQE is over threefold higher than performance of untreated device(EQE:3.8%).The operational half-lifetime of the treated devices also was significantly improved with T50 of 20 min(at current density of 25 mA cm^(−2)),outperforming the untreated devices(T50~6 min).

Effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascena on nulliparous women's pain and anxiety of labor during first stage of labor

Background： Reducing labor pain and anxiety is one of the most important goals of maternity care. Objective： This study aimed to assess the effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascena on pain and anxiety in the first stage of labor among nulliparous women. Design, setting, participants and interventions： This was a randomized clinical trial of 110 nulliparous women. The eligible participants were randomly assigned to two groups of aromatherapy and control in an Iranian maternity hospital. The participants received 0.08 mL of Rosa damascena essence in the aro- matherapy group and 0.08 mL of normal saline in the control group, every 30 min. Pain was measured 3 times, once each at three stages of cervical dilation （4-5, 6-7, and 8-10 cm）. Anxiety was measured twice, once each at two stages of cervical dilation （4-7 and 8-10 cm）. The tools for data collection were the Spielberger anxiety questionnaire, numerical pain rating scale, demographic and obstetric questionnaire, and an observational checklist. Data analyses included the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-square test. Main outcome measures： Severity of labor pain and severity of anxiety were used as primary outcome measures. Labor and delivery characteristics （including number of contractions, duration of contractions in second stage, Bishop score, augmentation by oxytocin, Apgar score, and mode of delivery）, demographic characteristics, and fertility information were used as secondary outcome measures. Results： Pain severity in the group receiving aromatherapy with R. damoscena was significantly lower than in the control group after treatment at each pain assessment （cervical dilation of 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10 cm; P 〈 0.05）. Anxiety levels were also significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment at each time of measurement （cervical dilation of 4-7 and 8-10 cm; P 〈 0.05）. Functionalized hydrogels stimulate the migration and morphogenesis of endothelial cells(ECs)and are useful substrates for wound healing.The present study investigates the feasibility of covalent conjugation of taurine(Tau)on a gelatin-based hydrogel.This hydrogel is expected to maintain positive charged growth factors such as basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)and vascular endothelial growth factors(VEGFs)near ECs within the hydrogel microenvironment.The gelatin was conjugated with hydroxyl phenol(Ph)and Tau moieties,and in following that Ph residues were crosslinked through a horseradish peroxidase-catalyzed reaction.The migration characteristics of ECs were analyzed by scratch migration assay and microparticle-based cell migration assay.Cellular morphology and amounts of angiopoietin 1(Ang 1),bFGF,and VEGF proteins were evaluated for encapsulated cells.The potential of synthesized hydrogels in wound healing was assessed by the percentage of reduction from the original wound size and histopathological analyses of rat skin.The incorporated Tau molecules within the hydrogel remained stable through covalent bonds during incubation.During extended incubation,the gelatin-based hydrogel conjugated with Tau improved the migration distance and number of existing migrated ECs.Immobilized Tau within the gelatin-based hydrogel induced high motility of ECs,accompanied by robust cytoskeleton extension and a cell subpopulation that expressed CD44 and CD31 receptors as well as enhancement of Ang 1,bFGF,and VEGF.We found that injectable Gel-Ph-Tau effectively improves wound-healing parameters.

Studies on mass attenuation coefficients for some body tissues with different medical sources and their validation using Monte Carlo codes

The mass attenuation coefficients of the breasts,lungs,kidneys,pancreas,liver,eye lenses,thyroid,brain,ovary,heart,large intestines,blood,skin,spleen,muscle,and cortical bone were measured at different sources(i.e.,0.021,0.029,0.03,0.14,0.218,0.38,0.412,0.663,0.83,and 1.25 MeV)using various methods including the Monte Carlo N-particle transport code(MCNP),the geometry and tracking code(GEANT4),and theoretical approach described in this study.Mass attenuation coefficients were also compared with the values from the national institute of standards and technology(NIST-XCOM).The values obtained were similar to those obtained using NISTXCOM.Our results show that the theoretical method is quite convenient in comparison with GEANT4 and MCNP in the calculation of the mass attenuation coefficients of the human body samples applied when compared with the NIST values and demonstrated an acceptable difference.

Does cesarean section prevent adverse neonatal outcomes associated with meconium amniotic fluid?

Background Making decisions regarding the mode of delivery in the cases of meconium amniotic fluid(MAF)presents a challenge for healthcare providers.We aimed to compare the neonatal outcome of MAF cases delivered via cesarean section(CS)versus those delivered vaginally to determine if CS is a protective factor against the adverse neonatal outcomes.Methods In this retrospective study,we assessed singleton pregnant mothers diagnosed with MAF who gave birth at a tertiary hospital in Bandar Abbas,Iran,between January 2020-2022.Mothers with certain adverse pregnancy conditions were excluded from the study.These conditions included:abnormal fetal heart rate and pattern,bloody amniotic fluid,malpresentation,abnormal placentation,chorioamnionitis,intrauterine growth restriction,intrauterine fetal death,obstructed labor,and maternal comorbidities.The MAF mothers were divided into two groups based on the method of delivery:those who had CS and those who had a normal vaginal delivery(NVD).Demographic factors,obstetrical factors,and neonatal outcomes were compared between the two groups.Results Out of 746 MAF mothers,213(28.5%)underwent CS,while 533(71.4%)had NVD.There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of demographic characteristics.Among MAF mothers who had CS,66.2%were primiparous,and 33.8%were multiparous.For those who had NVD,35.1%were primiparous,and 64.9%were multiparous.The first and 5-min Apgar values,rates of asphyxia,neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)admission,and neonatal death were not statistically different between the two delivery modes.The rate of newborns who breastfed within the first hour did not differ depending on the mode of delivery.Although initial resuscitation steps were required more frequently in MAF mothers with NVD than in those with CS(11.1%vs.2.3%),no correlation was found between the mode of delivery and the need for resuscitation using logistic regression.Conclusions Our research findings suggest that there were no superior neonatal outcomes in terms of CS compared
