Dysfunctional blood vessels are implicated in various diseases,including cardiovascular diseases,neurodegenerative diseases,and *** studies have attempted to prevent and treat vascular diseases and understand interactions between these diseases and blood vessels across different organs and *** studies were conducted using 2-dimensional(2D)in vitro and animal ***,these models have difficulties in mimicking the 3D microenvironment in human,simulating kinetics related to cell activities,and replicating human pathophysiology;in addition,3D models involve remarkably high ***,in vitro bioengineered models(BMs)have recently gained *** created through biofabrication based on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are breakthrough models that can overcome limitations of 2D and animal *** can also simulate the natural microenvironment in a patient-and target-specific *** this review,we will introduce 3D bioprinting methods for fabricating bioengineered blood vessel models,which can serve as the basis for treating and preventing various vascular ***,we will describe possible advancements from tubular to vascular ***,we will discuss specific applications,limitations,and future perspectives of fabricated BMs.

CREEP BEHAVIOR OF Zr-1.5Nb-0.4Sn-0.1Fe-0.1Cu ALLOY

Creep behavior of the Zr-1.5Nb-0.4Sn-0.1Fe-0.1Cu alloy sheet is investigated from 300℃ to 400℃ in the stress range from 50 MPa to 180 MPa along the rolling direction. The measured strain rates range from 8.8 × 10^-10 s^-1 to 4.7 × 10^-7 s^-1. The activation energies are estimated to assess the creep deformation mechanisms in this alloy. The strain rate is slightly different at low stress, while it shows a distinct difference at high stresses. Stress exponents of this alloy increase with increasing applied stress at all testing temperatures. It is concluded that the creep deformation of the Zr-1.5Nb-0.4Sn-0.1Fe-0. 1 Cu alloy is controlled by the diffusion creep at low stress region and by the climbing of dislocations at high stress region.

Seafood,especially sea cucumbers and oysters are an expensive delicacy in several Asian *** sun-drying of these products takes 3 to 4 days and fetches a lower market *** industrial drying machines used for seafood drying are unable to dry sea cucumbers and oysters without texture and color degradation as they are delicate,temperature-sensitive and have longer drying *** economical drying system that does not cause texture or color degradation is the heat pump drying system and is commonly applied for agriculture and fabric *** this study,the heat pump technology is applied to develop two hybrid dryer models(bottom discharge and front discharge)to dry shellfish and sea cucumbers in large scale for storage and *** model is tested in a laboratory-scale with wet sponges as input material for its dehumidification capacity and the power consumed to attain the target *** front discharge model is found to have rapid drying capability and *** fluid dynamic tools are used to study the hot air flow behavior and flow uniformity inside the drying *** front discharge model showed smooth uniform flow over the trays with fewer losses in the flow *** front discharge model with higher drying rate,lower power consumption and uniform airflow distribution over the trays is chosen for the industrial-scale design.

Can trans-anal reinforcing sutures after double stapling in lower anterior resection reduce the need for a temporary diverting ostomy?

AIM:To evaluate trans-anal reinforcing sutures in low anterior resection using the double-stapled anastomosis technique for primary rectal cancers performed at a single ***:The data of patients who received transanal reinforcing sutures were compared with those of patients who did not receive them after low anterior *** who underwent laparoscopic low anterior resection and the double-stapled anastomosis technique for primary rectal cancer between January2008 and December 2011 were included in this *** with no anastomosis,a hand-sewn anastomosis,high anterior resection,or preoperative chemoradiation were *** primary outcomes measured were the incidence of postoperative anastomotic complications and placement of a diverting ***:Among 110 patients,the rate of placement of a diverting ileostomy was significantly lower in the suture group(SG)compared with the non-suture control group(CG)[SG,n=6(12.8%);CG,n=19(30.2%),P=0.031].No significant difference was observed in the rate of anastomotic leakage[SG,n=3(6.4%);CG,n=5(7.9%)].CONCLUSION:Trans-anal reinforcing sutures may reduce the need for diverting ileostomy.A randomized prospective study with a larger population should be performed in the future to demonstrate the efficacy of trans-anal reinforcing sutures.

Gene expression profiling:Canonical molecular changes and clinicopathological features in sporadic colorectal cancers

AIM： To investigate alternative or subordinate pathways involved in colorectal tumorigenesis and tumor growth, possibly determining at-risk populations and predicting responses to treatment. METHODS： Using microarray gene-expression analysis, we analyzed patterns of gene expression relative to canonical molecular changes and clinicopathological features in 84 sporadic colorectal cancer patients, standardized by tumor location. Subsets of differentially expressed genes were confirmed by real-time reverse-transcript polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）. RESULTS： The largest number of genes identified as being differentially expressed was by tumor location, and the next largest number by lymphovascular or neural invasion of tumor cells and by mismatch repair （NMR） defects. Amongst biological processes, the immune response was significantly implicated in entire molecular changes observed during colorectal tumorigenesis （P 〈 0.001）. Amongst 47 differentially expressed genes, seven （PISD, NIBP, BAI2, STOML1, MRPL21, MRPL16, and MKKS） were newly found to correlate with tumorigenesis and tumor growth. Most location-associated molecular changes had distinct effects on gene expression, but the effects of the latter were sometimes contradictory. CONCLUSION： We show that several differentially expressed genes were associated with canonical molecular changes in sporadic colorectal cancers, possibly constituting alternative or subordinate pathways of tumorigenesis. As tumor location was the dominant factor influencing differential gene expression, location-specific analysis may identify location-associated pathways and enhance the accuracy of class prediction.

Hydrodynamics and modeling of a ventilated supercavitating body in transition phase

Compared to other underwater vehicles, supercavitating vehicles can attain a high speed because they eliminate drag by creating a large cavity, thus establishing the so-called ＂supercavitating condition.＂ Such a cavity is difficult to develop under normal conditions, hence, ventilation is used to attain the supercavitating condition in the initial phase of flight. In this paper, we focus on the hydrodynamic characteristics of a ventilated supercavitating vehicle. First, dynamic modeling of the supercavitating vehicle is performed to calculate the hydrodynamic force/moment acting on the vehicle for a given size of cavity. We then define the relationship between the ventilation rate and the cavitation number based on an air entrainment model of the ventilated cavity. Numerical simulations were performed to analyze the physical feasibility and characteristics of the modeling. The results show that the cavity length/radius increases with the ventilation rate, proving that ventilation can be used to attain the supercavitating condition.

Clinical assessment and identification of immuno-oncology markers concerning the 19-gene based risk classifier in stage Ⅳ colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND Genomic profiling of tumors has contributed to the understanding of colorectal cancer(CRC), facilitating diagnosis, prognosis and selection of treatments,including targeted regimens. A report suggested that a 19-gene-based risk classifier(TCA19) was a prognostic tool for patients with stage III CRC. The survival outcomes in patients with stage IV CRC are still poor and appropriate selection of targeted therapies and immunotherapies is *** To assess clinical implication of TCA19 in patients with stage IV CRC, and to identify TCA19 with involvement in *** A retrospective review of the medical records of 60 patients with stage IV CRC was conducted, assessing clinicopathological variables and progression-free survival(PFS). TCA19 gene expression was determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR) in matched normal and tumor tissues taken from the study cohort. Expression of potential immune-oncology regulatory proteins and targets was examined by immunohistochemistry(IHC), western blot, immunofluorescence staining in tissues from a validation cohort of 10 patients, and in CRC cell lines co-cultured with monocyte in *** In the patients with TCA19 score higher than the median, the PFS rates of eight patients who received the targeted regimens were significantly higher than the PFS rates of four patients who received 5-fluorouracil-based regimen(P = 0.041).In multivariate analysis, expression of signaling lymphocytic activation molecule family, member 7(SLAMF7) and triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1(TREM1) was associated with PFS in the 60-patient cohort. Clinical characteristics of patients in their forties who underwent surgical resection for colorectal cancer in Korea

Bowel function and quality of life after minimally invasive colectomy with D3 lymphadenectomy for right-sided colon adenocarcinoma
