Ellagic acid(EA)is one of the plant phenolics associated with human health *** derives from ellagitannins found in some nuts,seeds,and fruits,especially *** are considered a functional food and nutraceutical source,mainly because of their high concentration of EA and its *** review presents the current state of knowledge regarding EA,focusing on its content in strawberry plants,stability during processing and storage of strawberry-based foods,production methods,and relevance to human *** alternatives to acid-solvent extraction,fermentation-enzymatic bioprocesses hold great promises for more eco-efficient production of EA from plant *** fruits are generally rich in EA,with large variations depending on cultivar,growth conditions and maturity at *** EA contents are also reported in strawberry achenes and leaves,and in wild *** postharvest storage,processing and subsequent storage can influence EA *** low concentration in strawberry juice and wine can be increased by incorporating pre-treated *** recognition of strawberries as functional foods is substantiated by evidence of EA biological effects,including antioxidant,antiinflammatory,antidiabetic,cardioprotective,neuroprotective,and prebiotic *** health benefits attributed to EA-rich foods are thought to involve various protective mechanisms at the cellular *** EA is converted by the intestinal microbiota to urolithins,which are better absorbed than EA and may contribute significantly to the health effects attributed to EA-rich *** on the evidence available,strawberry EA shows strong promises for functional,nutraceutical,and pharmaceutical *** research should be directed at quantifying EA in different parts of the strawberry plant and in their byproducts;optimizing EA production from byproducts;understanding the biological actions of EA-derived metabolites in vivo,inc

Sepsis progression is significantly associated with the disruption of gut ***,the modulatory mechanisms of gut microbiota operating during sepsis are still ***,we investigated how gut commensals impact sepsis development in a pre-clinical *** ligation and puncture(CLP)surgery was used to establish polymicrobial sepsis in *** depleted of gut microbiota by an antibiotic cocktail(ABX)exhibited a significantly higher level of mortality than *** determined by metabolomics analysis,ABX treatment has depleted many metabolites,and subsequent supplementation with L-rhamnose(rhamnose,Rha),a bacterial carbohydrate metabolite,exerted profound immunomodulatory properties with a significant enhancement in macrophage phagocytosis,which in turn improved organ damage and ***,rhamnose binds directly to and activates the solute carrier family 12(potassium-chloride symporter),member 4(SLC12A4)in macrophages and promotes phagocytosis by activating the small G-proteins,Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate1(Rac1)and cell division control protein 42 homolog(Cdc42).Interestingly,rhamnose has enhanced the phagocytosis capacity of macrophages from sepsis *** conclusion,by identifying SLC12A4 as the host interacting protein,we disclosed that the gut commensal metabolite rhamnose is a functional molecular that could promote the phagocytosis capacity of macrophages and protect the host against sepsis.

Image Segmentation of Brain MR Images Using Otsu’s Based Hybrid WCMFO Algorithm

In this study,a novel hybrid Water Cycle Moth-Flame Optimization(WCMFO)algorithm is proposed for multilevel thresholding brain image segmentation in Magnetic Resonance(MR)image *** constitutes a hybrid between the two techniques,comprising the water cycle and moth-flame optimization *** optimal thresholds are obtained by maximizing the between class variance(Otsu’s function)of the *** test the performance of threshold searching process,the proposed algorithm has been evaluated on standard benchmark of ten axial T2-weighted brain MR images for image *** experimental outcomes infer that it produces better optimal threshold values at a greater and quicker convergence *** contrast to other state-of-the-art methods,namely Adaptive Wind Driven Optimization(AWDO),Adaptive Bacterial Foraging(ABF)and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),the proposed algorithm has been found to be better at producing the best objective function,Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Standard Deviation(STD)and lower computational time ***,it was observed thatthe segmented image gives greater detail when the threshold level ***,the statistical test result confirms that the best and mean values are almost zero and the average difference between best and mean value 1.86 is obtained through the 30 executions of the proposed ***,these images will lead to better segments of gray,white and cerebrospinal fluid that enable better clinical choices and diagnoses using a proposed algorithm.

Effect of Plastic Deformation on Magnetic Properties of Fe-40%Ni-2%Mn Austenitic Alloy

The effects of plastic deformation on the magnetic properties of austenite structure in an Fe-40% Ni-2 % Mn alloy is investigated by using Mossbauer spectroscopy and Differential Scanning Calorimetry （DSC） techniques The morphology of the alloy has been obtained by using Scanning Electron Microscopy （SEM）. The magnetic behaviour of austenite state is ferromagnetic. After plastic deformation, a mixed magnetic structure including both paramagnet- ic and ferromagnetic states has been obtained at the room temperature. The volume fraction changes, the effective hyperfine fields of the ferromagnetic austenite phase and isomery shift values have also been determined by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The Curie point （Tc） and the Neel temperature （TN） have been investigated by means of DSC system for non-deformed and deformed Fe-Ni-Mn alloy. The plastic deformation of the alloy reduces the TN and enhances the paramagnetic character of austenitic Fe-Ni-Mn alloy.

Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS),combined with dsDNA,produces cyclic GMP-AMP(cGAMP)to stimulate STING and activates the kinases TBK1 and IKK to induce interferon and other cytokines,which play an important role in host *** addition to the traditional interferon inflammatory signaling pathway of cGAS,recently,Chen et al.1 discovered a new mechanism in which cGAS-cGAMP-STING activated autophagy through WIPI2 and *** is a process induced under various cellular stress conditions,such as oxygen deficit,nutrient deprivation,lack of growth factors,and infection,aiming to maintain the basic survival of cells or promote apoptosis of senescent cells.2,3 The activation of the autophagy-related(ATG)1/Unc-51-like kinase(ULK)complex is vital for autophagy *** ATG1/ULK1 complex phosphorylates or recruits its downstream proteins,contributing to autophagosome formation.3 Under the regulation of related genes,“cargo”is transferred to the lysosome and digested by various *** addition,cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS),which detects exogenous or self-damaged dsDNA in the cytoplasm after binding to dsDNA,produces cGAMP to activate the adaptor protein stimulator of interferon genes(STING),triggering the downstream pathway and secretion of interferon or other cytokines.

Studies on the seasonal variations in the proximate composition of ascidians from the Palk Bay,Southeast coast of India

Antiproliferative role of Indig ofera aspalathoides on 20 methylcholanthrene induced fibrosarcoma in rats

Objective:To find out the anticancer effect of indigofera aspalathoides(***)on20-methylcholanthrene induced fibrosarcoma in ***:Fibrosarcoma was induced in Wistar strain male albino rats by ***(i.p.)administration of250 mg/kg body weight/day of aqueous extract of *** for 30 d effectively suppressed chemically induced *** such as body weight,liver and kidney weight,tumor weight,mean survival time,behavioral changes,blood glucose,blood glycogen and marker enzymes such as alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),acid phosphatase(ACP)and 5'-nucleiotidase(5'-NT)in serum,liver and kidney and lipid profiles such as total cholesterel,phospholipids,free fatty acids in liver and kidney of control and experimental animals were ***:Fibrosarcoma bearing animals were ferocious and *** mean survival time was found to increase after the *** body weights were significantly decreased(P<0.001)in groupⅡfibrosarcoma animals which steadily increased after the treatment with *** liver and kidney weights were significantly increased whereas the tumor weights decreased as compared to the weights in untreated fibrosarcoma bearing *** blood glucose and the liver and kidney glycogen levels were found to decrease significantly(P<0.001)in groupⅡ*** activities of marker enzymes were observed in serum,liver and kidney of fibrosarcoma bearing GroupⅡanimals which were normalize after *** *** the liver and kidney of GroupⅡanimals the total cholesterol increased whereas the pbospbolipids and free fatty acid levels decreased(P<0.001)which were normalized after ***:The treatment by *** on fihrosarcoma bearing rats has improved the levels of various parameters indicating its antiproliferative and anticancer activity.

The optimal timing of surgery in case of synchronous presentation of colorectal cancer and liver metastases is still under *** approach,with initial colorectal resection followed by liver resection(LR),or even the reverse,liver-first approach in specific situations,is traditionally *** resections,however,represent an appealing strategy,because may have perioperative risks comparable to staged resections in appropriately selected patients,while avoiding a second surgical *** patients with larger or multiple synchronous presentation of colorectal cancer and liver metastases,simultaneous major hepatectomies may determine worse perioperative outcomes,so that parenchymal-sparing LR should represent the most appropriate option whenever ***-invasive colorectal surgery has experienced rapid spread in the last decades,while laparoscopic LR has progressed much slower,and is usually reserved for limited tumours in favourable ***,mini-invasive parenchymal-sparing LR is more complex,especially for larger or multiple tumours in difficult *** remains to be established if simultaneous resections are presently feasible with mini-invasive approaches or if we need further technological advances and surgical expertise,at least for more complex *** review aims to critically analyze the current status and future perspectives of simultaneous resections,and the present role of the available miniinvasive techniques.

Toll-like receptor 3(TLR3),as an important pattern recognition receptor(PRR),dominates the innate and adaptive immunity regulating many acute and chronic inflammatory *** is proved as an inflammatory disease,and inflammatory events involved in the entire process of initiation and ***,the contribution of TLR3 to atherosclerosis remains ***,we identified the clinical relevance of TLR3 upregulation and disease processes in human ***,activation of TLR3 also directly led to significant expression of atherogenic chemokines and adhesion ***,silencing TLR3 inhibited the uptake of oxLDL by macrophages and significantly reduced foam cell *** the aberrance in TLR3 functions on atherosclerosis progression,we hypothesized that TLR3 could serve as novel target for clinical atherosclerosis ***,we developed the novel ellipticine derivative SMU-CX24,which specifically inhibited TLR3(IC_(50)=18.87±2.21 nmol/L).In vivo,atherosclerotic burden was alleviated in Western diet fed ApoE^(−/−)mice in response to SMU-CX24 treatment,accompanying notable reductions in TLR3 expression and inflammation infiltration within atherosclerotic ***,for the first time,we revealed that pharmacological downregulation of TLR3 with specific inhibitor regenerated inflammatory environment to counteract atherosclerosis progression,thereby proposing a new strategy and probe for atherosclerosis therapy.
